James Vaughan and Cardiff

Comments (21)

Cardiff have just had two of their outstanding strikers; Jay Bothroyd and Ross McCormack injured, and their chairman said specifically they want to loan a Premiership striker.

Anyone agree that striker should be James Vaughan? Should give him a lot of match practice in a decent level of the game, with Cardiff also going very well in the Championship.

It’s not as though we have a surplus of strikers though, and Saha is know as ’Sicknote’ for a reason...

I agree mate, God knows what the lad must be thinking when the only chance he gets is a minute at the end of a game here and there. Yakubu could turn up with no legs and still get a game ahead of Vaughan. Look at what Osman’s loan spells at Derby and Carlisle did for him. A run of games and restored confidence can transform a player.

In the next month Cardiff are to play 6 games against some very competitive teams. If Moyes continues in the vain 1 up front especially with Cahill back as a support striker a months loan is a very good option. Davie get on the phone and book the taxi for Jimmy. Might even calm Vaughn down a bit when he comes up against some ?orrible Championship centre halves!!! Would love to see him snap at their heels and get snapped back. I am all for determination but sometimes he is TOO aggressive for my liking. Agree??

Ben, I don?t think James should be going anywhere. I?d like to see him given a chance along side theYak.
Andy, the Yak must play, at the moment he?s the only quality we?ve got.

I don't think it would be such a bad idea to let him go out on loan for a couple of months or so to get some more game time and build up his confidence a bit, like Andy said it did Ossie the world of good going to Derby and his spell at Carlisle too and I think if Vaughan was to be loaned out to someone he?d get a better run of games to play in surely and that would benefit him heaps compared to the 5 minutes here and 5 minutes there situation he finds himself in here at Everton!

Although I would like to see him get match practice, I would be extremely wary that the lower league defenders would toey him everywhere. Not a great thought, as he seems to pick up injuries easily.

Vaughan, Anichebe maybe... not Baxter just yet... but yes, certainly one should be sent on their way to get some games under their belt.

Any average prem striker should be able to get at least 15 goals a season in the Championship. This would be a great test for our beloved ageing kids!

Andy Ferguson, Vic, perhaps doesn?t do much about the house but I?ve never seen him being lazy on the pitch. In fact we don't see him much at all. Maybe it?s time for him, Vaughan, Baxter, Rodwell and Turner to move on. They are never going to get a game here. After all, we are playing so well....

Sending Vaughany to Cardiff might not be a bad idea but I feel he has an important role to play this season especially with the Christmas period approaching. I think the Yak is in need of a rest to recharge his batteries, a striker who hasn?t scored in 9 games, no matter what level they play at, should be dropped. Everyone seems to be putting blame on our creative players for not creating much for the Yak but I believe that putting in Vaughan instead of him will freshen up Arteta and Piennar.

Taking into account that most of our games this month are away from home, why not put Vaughan there to hassle the defenders and maybe stick the Yak on with 20 minutes to go as the game will be more open. On Saturday I thought Vaughany did more in 5 minutes than the Yak did in the previous 85 and, with Saha now off the mark, why not go to West Ham with Vaughany and Saha up front?

Any Crooks, you say it's time for Baxter to move on!! You do realise he is only 16 and has years to mature as a footballer...

I am a firm believer that Vaughan is our second best striker. The only reason I put him behind Yak is Yak has a proven record but Vaughan isn’t get a chance to take the mantle. I’d let Anichebe go on loan as I remain unconvinced. He does a lot of graft, is big, strong etc but his finishing seems to lack composure which is a bit like a midfielder who covers a lot of ground but hardly ever finds an opponent with a pass.

I see Moyes is converting Anichebe to a right midfielder. Or a target man on the right. So unless Vaughan gets converted to defensive mid he?s not going to get any minutes on the pitch.

Ha ha... send the Yak on loan!! I think Vaughan should be starting, he's definetly good enough. Defenders hate him cos he just won't stop chasing and harrasing them. He should definitely at least be getting on with 20-30 minutes remaining ? not 6!!! I wouldn't want to send him on loan though. I don't really get why he isn't included a bit more. I have nothing against Anichebe but Vaughan is head and shoulders above him in terms of skill and ability.

Agree with you C.Fisher. I think Vaughany is much better than Vic. Hoping for Vaughany goal at Saturday against West Ham!

As other people have pointed out that Chopra has gone to Cardiff and I’m happy about that. Not saying that Cardiff aren’t a good team because they are, but our gain rather then Cardiff’s gain.

For a few games in his career he has come off the bench and lifted the players from a defeat to a draw, or even a draw to a win.

I can see in the next few games he’ll become a great player, start winning more headers and start outpasing defenders like he used to, C’mon Vaughany! You can do it mate!

Given the limited opportunities for youngsters breaking into the prem, all the lads on the outside should be sent on loan... with the proviso they can be called back whenever needed due to injury to the first team player.
