Segundo Castillo?

Moyes is backing Segundo Castillo to make an impact with the Blues. The Ecuadorian, who joined on loan from Red Star Belgrade in the summer, has found first-team opportunities hard to come by in recent weeks. But following his run-out for Andy Holden's reserves on Monday, Moyes assured Castillo he is very much in his plans. ?He is fine now,? said Moyes. ?Segundo did okay in the games he played, it?s just I have been looking for something different recently.?
Perhaps he was injured? Nobody really knows or I wonder does Moyes not rate him when he says he wants someting different. I hope he plays against West Ham as Fellaini can't play.

So Moyes "wants something different"... My God don?t we all.
I read this article and thought exactly the same as you.
In his and Fellaini?s first game together, I thought that they were both ?average?, only separated by a power strike by Segundo. I was surprised to see him left out of the next games actually... so I think there must be a larger gap between the two in training. Fellaini is clearly stepping it up a gear now so Castillo will have to prove what he?s worth with one game (if he gets in) otherwise Fellaini will be back in.
Good for competition of places though!
I don't agree with the people that want to see Castillo in the side. In the few games that he played, I think he was a bit of a headless chicken. He was running around chasing the ball and just getting it passed around him, for me he didn't have enough discipline to play in front of the back four which I think is the problem at the minute.
I think for some people he was an improvement on Jagielka, who had been playing there at the start of the season but to be honest I would have been an improvement on Jagielka in that position, he also scored a good goal (from outside the box) against Liege. These two things are getting in the way of the fact that he never really done the job he was asked to do and as I've said before that job should go to Jack Rodwell who in my opinion is going to be a very good footballer, I just hope its playing for us.
I think the lad needs to be given a good run of games before we can judge him. What I have already seen of him, he does get about the pitch and can win tackles in the holding role. He did give stupid passes away in dangerous positions though.
He’s fine now?
He was also fine when you dropped him for no apparent reason and put a right back on in his position...
He got injured on international duty.
Yes Colonel
but it wasnt on MOTD
So: "Moyes wants something different"
Why did he bloody well sign him then? He may end up being another one to add to the list of mishapes, mistakes, misfits that Dithering Dave wastes our money on!
Does Moyes actually know what he?s doing or wants? Other than being vastly overpaid for acheiving fuck all!
I would like to see Castillo given more of a chance ? after all if he doesn?t get a game, how can he adapt to the Premier League? My main criticism of Moyes ? and basically I think he is the right bloke for Everton, so don?t class me as a "Moyes basher" ? is that, given we have most of our players available, why doesn?t he make use of more of them? For example, I think Yakubu is a top striker but he is off form at the moment so why doesn?t Moyes start with Saha and have Yak on the bench?
It seems to me that some players only have to have 1 bad game and they are on the bench whilst others e.g. Lescott and Yak can have 3 or 4 below average games and they are still in the starting eleven. I know Moyes may not have the same "squad rotation" options as Wenger or Scolari but he does have some scope for making some changes, yet he seems reluctant to "rest" certain players. Castillo needs to be given the opportunities to play so that he can adapt fully to the English game.
To say "Jack Rodwell is going to be a good footballer in my opinion" is a statement that will not shock anyone by the way. I?m sure we all think that and it certainly isn?t a secret. It?s been on the cards for a fair few years as it happens.
Anyway, Castillo is not the greatest in the world, but I felt that he tackled quite well, rarely wasted balls (rare in our team). His only flaw really was standing off a little too often instead of chasing down and snapping at heals. This can be taught to a degree, so more games in the side my turn him into the player we want him to be. He has most definitely earned more playing time though from what I have seen. Let's give him a try.
So, essentially, after six and a half years in the job and having built his own squad, Moyes wants something different?
And a player he brought in three months ago doesn’t give that?
Let’s start with a different manager eh?
All together now - "You don’t know what you’re doing!"
At the end of the day, Castillo is a very average player. Injured or not, he was rightly put on the bench after his first few games because he’s not in our best midfield, simple. Moyes has probably just come out and said this because he knows he has to play him with Fellaini being out.
"He got injured on international duty. " ? which stopped him being played in matches before that international duty???
So Moyes isn?t really interested in playing Castillo because he?s looking for something different? So why the hell did he bring him to Goodison? Oh yeah, I know the answer, it?s because Moyes spent the whole of the summer sulking and dithering over every little aspect of his career at Everton. Castillo, like Fellaini and Saha, were brought in because Moyes suddenly panicked when it finally sunk into his thick skull that he had left everything too late. But at least the club has sorted out Moyes?s new contract. I?m dead pleased about that.
Moyes's contract was afforded absolute priority during the last close season. I understand there was every reason to believe that he was wanted by a number of clubs and he only had to say the word for 'vacancies? to be created. Whilst he dithered over whether to stay or go, BB?s hands were tied as quite sensibly he would not commit funds for players a new manager might not want.
When Moyes finally decided to stay ? and that was after the season started ? only last minute panic signings like Castillo could be made. I suspect he was signed on an agent's recommendation.
Marc Williams - I don?t believe we?ve taken up the option to buy yet so any money wasted as you put it is simply for the loan period so far. For now at least he bolsters a numerically weak side.
Personally, I don?t think its right to judge him on what's been seen so far. A day or two after stepping off the plane he came into a team struggling with injuries and form, into a much faster paced style of football (hence arguably the mis-placed passes) than he would be used to and into an unbalanced and completely different line up to the one that finished last season. I don?t remember anyone playing that well at this time.
Maybe the guy will not adjust or simply be crap, who knows, but I personally will not write anyone off until they have been given a proper opportunity to show Moyes and the fans what he is about. At the end of the day we needed a replacement for Carsley and we only have this guy on loan initially for a year. End of....
I think we?ve seen all we are ever likely to of Castillo. I understand he has ?an attitute problem? that will see him returned whence he came come January. As you say, Spencer, End of.
Yes, Tony Clemson, but what you don?t say is that the clubs who were interested were Celtic and Bolton and neither of them were ever likely to offer Moyes £65K a week. So Kenwright knew he was in the pound seats but the whole thing drifted on so long it fucked up the beginning of our season. Hence, Everton got lumbered with the likes of Castillo, Jacobsen and Nash. Moyes might be filling his boots but he has a lot to answer for.
Moyes will go 4-4-2 now fellaini is banned with Cahill droping into the centre, Saha has to start.
Anyone seeing Castillo playing for Ecuador will know that he is probably their best player and always gives a good account of himself in their internationals. I cannot believe any negative comments about this player ? for god's sake, he's only been here for 5 minutes, new club, country, language, environment, hell, give the lad a chance, and let's look at him again at the end of the season.
I think the strangest decision on him so far (by Moyes) was to drop him for the return leg against Standard Liege. We were crying out for creativity, had few other options, he’d scored a cracker in the first leg, wasn’t injured and he still didn’t play him or bring him off the bench. Unbelievable!
We need to be changing players around to stop the rot setting in. Those playing now are almost guaranteed a first team place barring injury. Use other players not getting a look in like Rodwell, Castillo and Van der Meyde. Get Osman on the operating table if he needs his knee sorting and make them challenge for places before they become complacent. We need to see competitive competition for places to knock us up a gear or two.
Its funny, half of the comments are for giving Castillo a definite chance and the other half maintain he?s useless, rather hard after just the one game in which he scored a cracker.
I'm with the former, I think he is comfortable with the ball at his feet, he can hit a ball and how!!! As for tackling, I believe the pace of the Premier League deceived him as it does so many from other Leagues. Lets see him after two or three outings.
Bring Rodwell in, he is better than Castillo.
