Is there anyone out there?

Comments (6)

I realise that this isn't exactly the place to ask, but I'm rather fed up with the silence.... recently the North American website, EFCSCNA, was replaced by EvertonUSA. I was in contact with the site administrator and paid for 2 memberships early May. Since then, I have not heard anything and have subsequently cancelled the AmEx fees. I have written to the Official Site requesting information but, again, there has been a wall of silence.

Does anyone out there know if this site still exists? The home page still has the Tottenham match report, FFS!!!! With Everton visiting the USA again at the end of this month, it would be great to arrange a get-together for all the fans going to Salt Lake City.

If there are any readers/editors on ToffeeWeb who can find out it would be appreciated...

Sorry Gerry, no fringing idea. One thing about the internet over the years: lack of follow-through. Plenty of bright ideas and innovative ventures... that are just left to die of neglect.

Personally, I don't think I was really aware of the site and certainly never visited it. What did I miss? What use was it anaway? I guess I don't understand the need for national websites unless there is a language issue (eg Chinese... uhoh! another venture that proves the point, methinks!).

I’m with Michael, sod the US site — sites like ToffeeWeb should be the hub. I’m over in the States (most of the time) and there isn’t much in terms of EFC blogs etc — I always end up coming back here.

Michael,
The website wasn’t anything remotely like ToffeeWeb, or Bluekipper for that matter, but it is at times like this that you expect a "local" website to inform (and possibly organise) when the team is due to visit.

Last time I sent messages to TW and BK to inform the fans of an organised piss-up in Denver the night before the match, the messages took so long to get onto the sites the visit was over!

There are hundreds of ex-scousers scattered throughout the States and Canada, you only have to go to these friendlies to realise our fans do travel anywhere, any distance, to see their blue heroes — we talked with a family originally from Bootle who drove from their home in Calgary all the way to Houston and then straight back again after the match!

Anyway, thanks for the "airspace" Michael, I agree with Ed — it’s a site you do return to no matter what.

Gerry-
The North American site -I believe don’t hold me to this - was run by a scouser come to America. She was transferred back to England and the site was taken up by another woman to run. It’s never been adequetely paid attention to.
It is frustrating... you’d think there’d be a good NA site - but no.

If my memory serves that site was run out of Chicago and was a glorified "let’s meet at this pub in Chicagoland to see the match" type of site.

Jamie, thanks for your response — I think you nailed it on the head with regards to the "Chicago" comments. I thought that with a fresh face we could at least expect a more open approach to the multitude of fans based here in the States and Canada.

Michael, I’ve also had time to read your strange response in a more "sober" light this morning, and your quote, "Personally, I don’t think I was really aware of the site and certainly never visited it. What did I miss? What use was it anyway? I guess I don’t understand the need for national websites unless there is a language issue (eg Chinese... uhoh! another venture that proves the point, methinks!)", unquote, I find somewhat negative and condescending from a website that states of it’s Overseas Supporters Clubs, quote, "Everton fans have been scattered to the four corners of the earth. Get back to your spiritual home along with a horde of other exiled locals through these unique pages". As one of the ToffeeWeb editors, I would imagine that you, of all people, should be aware of other Supporters Clubs, after all, you do advertise for us to visit them!

Once you have found out about the new Everton USA site (which is advertised on the OS incorrectly too — they have been told), would you then take the opportunity to update the information on the Overseas Supporters Club page please? Remember, just because we are 5,000 miles away doesn’t make us outcasts!

Sorry, Gerry, I had something different in mind... I thought it was something done by the club, in relation to that thing they were doing in the US last season.

Guess this one never got on our list of Supporters Clubs, which has now been superseded by the one on the Official Site. I put that section up originally years ago because there was no such registry on the web. Now the Club is doing a better job than we can, so it’s probably time for us to ditch that section.

(Their link worked for me, so the message must have finally got through!)
