Tim Cahill

Comments (13)

Just read some rubbish about our Tim telling someone he's fed up with British weather and is hoping to move to Italy or USA??

Now while I don't believe any of this BS, what did worry me was the fact that Tim has only 12 months left on his contract. Anyone else out there worried by this fact? Has he been offered an extension at any point or do the club plan on offering him one? I for one think the lad has represented everything good about the club over the last few years — pride, 100% effort, class and dignity. Just a tad concerned that we could lose him in the very near future.

I thought he signed a new 5-year contract at the same time as Arteta last summer.

I’m under the same impression as Jay Wilson. Looks like TW’s own player page reflects that too : http://www.toffeeweb.com/players/current/Cahill.asp

Pretty certain that Cahill’s current contract runs out at the end of July 2012. Dont worry, I read last week that Yobo only had twelve months left, when in fact he signed a new four-year deal less than two months ago.

Tim, along with Mikel, signed a 5-year revised contract in June 2007. He told some of us in Singapore at an event we put on for him when the Aussie squad was on a 10-day training camp here.

He also told us how his parents had taken a loan to bring him to the UK when he was still a kid to pursue his dream, and how the English league was the best for him.

So he’s been here since 15-16. And he’s now decided he’s had enough of the weather?

We’ve had some right shitbags down the years who openly treated Everton as a cash cow or a stepping stone (how was your career at Fulham, Radzinski?), but rest assured, the only way Tim ever leaves Everton is if the club decide to cash in on him, or Moyes wants rid (in that order).

Tim Cahill has just had some tough times in the Australian media recently. Of course there were allegations that he was kicked out of a night club before the Australia vs Japan game, and he was very quite after the match — when asked about anything, his response would be, "I just wanna thank the fans". This was despite scoring twice and winning the game for us.

Knowing our media, they’re just trying to unsettle him, but we shouldn’t panic, he has EFC tattooed on his arm, and his contract does end 2012. He is truly a Toffee4Life.

Knowing some, he will have to come out and say (again) that he is committed to EFC before we believe he’s not gonna up ship for City or Chelsea or Real or LA Galaxy

Just media stirring, I’m sure. Recent articles and interview with Tim have mentioned the weather etc and Tim (being an Aussie) complaining about it, the summary being three or four years down the road he’ll be off to sunnier climes. But you know what the papers are like... (re: Tempting SAF with a swap Rodwell for Scholes).

Tim’s gone on record as saying that in 5yrs he is off back to Oz and the sun with his cash and start a ’soccer’ school and also said that he hopes to finish those years with us.

SHIT STIRRING, end of.

I saw this rumour a couple of weeks ago on an Aussie website, in the comments section in a story about his trouble with the bouncer. I can’t believe the media has actually picked this up as it was written as ’a friend of a friend’ spoke to Timmy blah blah...... It's a slow time in the transfer market at the moment for most of the clubs, so the media hasn’t anything better to do other than take stories from made up sources.

Of course it never rains or snows in Rome, Madrid, Barcelona etc...

Where’s the source?

I always thought it was common knowledge that Tim’s aspirations were to see out the rest of his contract (2012) then go home and work at the academies he’s set up, specifically in Sydney.

Mike - good point I forgot to mention. Tim has already set the ball rolling with his academies. He does a lot of sponsorship / personal appearances etc. with the likes of Weetbix in Aus (they spell it without the ’a’).

Plus, the original story about the nightclub — even the club and their staff went to great lengths to say they were asked, politely, to leave when the club closed and all the players (Tim being most high profile), readily did so. No story.

If Journo’s wrote "Australian players in mild mannered departure from club" — it wouldn’t sell?

They’re the same as the (in the main) useless wankers in the UK press.

As someone else said — don’t buy it. You can read all the news you want on line anyway.

This appeared on the Paper Talk section of the Sky Sports website… posted by a Tug-boat fan!!

Andy Cross (Tottenham Hotspur fan) says...
I’m currently in Australia working and went into a bank in Sydney near where Tim Cahill grew up, got chatting to a member of staff who went to school with Tim and is a family friend, and he tells me Mr Cahill wants to leave England (hates the weather) with Italy his preferred destination, either this season or next! Ciao!

Since this was posted several papers have written almost identical reports… funny ay!! Mr Cross must be highly thought of by the tabloids. I think we as TW’ers should come up with a fake post (even if it’s not about Everton), just to see how far it goes in the media.

I personally found the bit about the weather being crap here funny. My girlfriend is an Australian and lives with me here in England; she got burnt as well as sunstroke at the pub last week and then got burnt again Sunday.
