Jo deal fallen through?

Comments (21)

The link posted to take you to the Man CIty website confirming the Jo deal has now been removed, with no history of the story on the site. Has the deal collapsed? Released the article before it was confirmed?

I don't know, am not even that bothered, but just thought it was a bit mad the way I could read the story before and now its vanished. Would be a decent, not great, addition to the squad, not first team. COYB!

I have a feeling — just a hunch mind — that a deal for Jo on a permanent deal is being negotiated, with Lescott being a piece of the jigsaw. At lunch, it was negotiating a deal for Jo... then it was a loan deal... now, no word on either site. I think Lescott is involved!!!

Just to add fuel to the fire, if you go on the official site and watch the video of Everton training in Scotland, you can see Jo there but — guess what.... NO Lescott!!!!

Well, all I will say is there better be a good chunk of money coming to us if this is true, becuase IMO a straight swap would be tantamount to daylight robbery!

I must admit, on the evidence of last season, all I can see is some potential, at times he looked like Bambi on ice, but he is not worth £20m!

Ah, don’t you just love a dodgy conspiracy theory?

MC changed the story- http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Team-news/2009/July/Jo-trains-with-Everton

Looks like it’s not quite done.

Lescott has an extended summer break after the England internationals.

Oh come on, none of the players involved in recent international games are at training this week. The club announced weeks ago that these players would be given an extended break.

Also on SkySports.com, the Jo loan story can now not be retrieved.... oh what fun it is supporting Everton. Another summer of long saga transfers for people who we already had. The excitement is killing me!!!

Not so sure what I’ll make of this...

OS confirms Jo talks and Chief Executive Elstone adds: "We have had a conversation with Manchester City over the options available to us and discussions are set to continue."

Obviously he does not state what these options are actually referring to...

OS: "Everton officials have confirmed that discussions with Manchester City are continuing over the signing of Jo." Signing? Doesn’t that normally mean something a little more than a loan? Or could it just be a typing oversight?

Yeah, I have a bad feeling about all this, as soon as I heard Joleon was being left at home.

The signing of Jo wouldn’t even come close to compensating for Lescott’s loss - UNLESS Moyes has a trick up his sleeve, delves into his scouting network and uncovers another gem of Lescott/Jagielka’s quality.

Did you not read above — NONE of the international players have gone to Scotland, as they are having an extended break! Lescott may or may not go, but it is nothing to do with him not travelling.

As for other posts stating they KNOW Owen /_______ [insert any name] are done deals, they are just stupid. I hate the transfer window. We’ll know who Moyes is interested in when they are wearing that Blue shirt

If we go along with following reports from the rags, there hasn’t been a Lescott story for over a week now. The rags are reporting a 3rd bid for Terry from City and they’ve now turned their attentions to a fella called Luco or Lucio. Moyes must have told City where to go.

I have been reading the ’strong’ links between Everton and Tuncay Sanli today. Why all the strikers?

The Yak, Saha, possibly Jo and Tuncay? Not to mention one Vaughan (who actually needs the games!) I really wouldn’t understand it. Especially as we are likely to play 4-5-1!

There is something going on.

Last night at around 6pm, Everton released an article on the offical site saying he had signed on a season long loan. There was even some quotes from Jo saying how pleased he was to be here and be playing football.

That article has been removed as has the one on the city website. The last article is now saying we’re just in talks.

My guess is that Jo refused to turn up at City for training, the same as many players at other clubs have — Mido, Alves, many players at Newcastle — as they are all engineering moves. City may as well let him train with us as then he’s at least happy, fit and ready for a move on loan or permanent to us or someone else.

Lescott has been on international duty and so is given extra time off, I doubt the two Tims are in Scotland either.

And if City want Lescott then I believe the answer would be £20 million, Richards and Michael Johnson. If they want shot of Jo, I'd give them £7 million — no more, no less... but I'd rather keep Lescott AND offer them £5 million or so for Micah Richards because, if they are prepared to swap him, they obviously don't want him. Richards would add some good competition for Hibbo.

On a different issue, why hasn’t the OS announced the signing of Anton Peterlin? He is with the squad in Scotland (as can be seen on the OS photos from yesterday). Why can’t our club just say we sign the people when we actually do rather than space out the announcements to leave us waiting by our computers?

One thing you have to admire about Jo, is that he has made it very clear that he loves being at Everton. The support he gave for the FA Cup even though he was not involved and the fact that he is at pre-season training when a deal is still not done says it all for me.

Let’s be honest guys, the OS never seems to be up to speed on anything! How it can spend so much time previewing the new store and kit, but the new signings, (be they youth or the likes of Peterlin), get what amounts to a few column inches is a joke.

Also, why show shots of Jo training with us and appearing in our kit when the deal is clearly not done?? Well, gotta go and see what shit the OS has up now...
