Lorick Cana

Comments (26)

It is being reported in French newspapers today that Cana is coming to EFC for a medical tomorrow with Marseille having already agreed terms.

If we think Fellaini is a sucker for yellow cards, just watch this guy... Looking on the positive side he's like a carsley who can pass.

Anyway (if true) I'm sure Moyes will sort him out.

I'm sure a few posters will say let's wait until he's photographed wearing the shirt but I thought I would just pass the info on.

Make your own minds up...

Nice one, cheers for that Jay...let’s hope it’s true as it’s definitely a position that we need to strengthen. I’m praying we land Naughton too as Hibbo’s regular inclusion is becoming too hard to bear.

I hope it's true, Jay, but last week he was signing for Hamburg. Also some Swedish winger has been shown around Finch Farm last Friday. Like you say, Jay, until they are holding the shirt.... here’s hoping.

Jay, I said on another post he got exactly the same cards as Cahill last season; 7 yellows and 1 red, youtube makes him look a headcase, Fellaini got 13 yellows last season, Neville got 8 yellows last season and Pienaar got 7 yellows too.

Lorik Cana is twice the player Carsley is. Cana can pass, dribble and influence attacks add those to everything Carsley has got and you will have an idea of the sort of player Cana is.

I never judge a player by his you tube videos. I only judge on what i have seen. And for Cana the only time I have seen him in a full match was against the RS in CL. He looked good but thats the only time I’ve seen him. I’d say i trust Moyes but he did sign Fellaini who I am still not convinced over.

If he signs then that’ll be Gerard out injured for six months, following Cana’s first Derby !

If Moyes buys Cana, that must mean Neville moves to full back, in which case, Moyes should stop wasting £6 million trying to sign Naughton and go all out for a quality right winger.

I’m excited about this one... Hope it turns out to be true. He would be a huge signing.

He has been described as a leader in the dressing room as well as on the field... he can play a bit as well!

We already have 3 right-backs... do we really need Naughton? Maybe Moyse is looking to play Coleman in midfield?

Alan — If we get Cana I would still want a right back that could cross a ball as well as that right winger you mention.

Hibbo and Neville cannot cross. Coleman looks a decent prospect but perhaps Moyes feels Naughton is better and ready to jump straight into the first team.

Let’s hope these two transfers come off.

Was in the Crofters in Huyton, and I heard from a good source Hibbert's dad was there, his words not mine. Lescott does not want to go, Kenwright trying to push him out for the money. Sorry for breaking in with different news, but I thought this is important, and all Everton fans should know.

What a cheap shot for some Kenwright bashing no substance to this story what so ever. I saw Preki in a Kebab House and his links with Carlo Nash told me Lescott wants out for £100k a week at City.

As a side issue, I hope we sign both players and keep Joleon!!!

The question is do we really need another central midfielder?

Gerry, When you say you "heard from a good source Hibbert's dad was there" — Does that just mean exactly that? Hibbert's dad was there!! Or are you saying that Hibbert's dad said Lescott does not want to go etc...?

Either way, I think it not to be true. Lescott not wanting to go I can understand... Kenwright talking money with Man City I can understand... Kenwright pushing the sale I just don't buy into.

Bloody hell Gerry, I heard from Hibbo’s dad that we were meant to be signing Nugent 2 summers ago! The lad in front of me in the Park End said he drinks in the same local as HIbbo’s dad. The players are kept as much in the dark as we are.

Glen, I agree but I’d rather put the £6 million towards a winger who can beat a man and cross the ball.

Alan Clarke, I’ve just been agreeing with you on another thread as well, but I think your logic is correct here as well.

If we sign Cana or another holding midfielder (Christian Poulsen is also available for £6M apparently) we can keep Neville at right back and the need for Naughton is far less urgent.

Two responses might be that 1) Naughton’s style of play really suits him to play on the wing anyway, and that might be where he starts out, and 2) The Swedish kid Rasmus Elm might be the guy Moyes thinks is his ’quality right winger’. I’ve been looking but can’t find any reference to Elm as anything other than ’versatile midfielder’, so I don’t know exactly what his role is.

"Was in the Crofters in Huyton...."

Isn't this almost word for word the Rooney story? Same pub even?

Its like deja vu all over again!

Alan Clarke — What do you make of Elano over at Man City as a right winger? Currently out of favour, has a killer pass and can certainly beat a man! Reckon we could pry him away for less than $6m if we made a bid... especially with a bit of "influence" from Jo... Plus he can play in the centre too.

I think if we did get Cana, then Arteta would end up back at right wing. Moyes loves his 4-5-1 too much, and I think the first choice midfield would be Cana, Fellaini, Cahill, Arteta and Pienaar with Neville playing right back. Personally, I'd be well happy with that.

Just seen film of Cana on Youtube .... Jesus, we have got to get this man in our midfield , a real powerhouse with the right blues attitude... love him already.

Yes, I can see a few yellow cards , but he gives 100 % in every tackle, just what we need and a BIG step towards us getting in the top four. Break the bank, Moyesy... COYB !!!!

For what it’s worth, out of all the players we have been linked with over the last 12 months or so, Cana is the only one I want to see in an Everton shirt.

I am worried by the YouTube videos of Cana. With his tackling and Fellaini’s elbow, there is no way we are going to win the Fair Play league next season.

I am not sure we need a RB, but everyone is raving about this Naughton kid and Rasmus Elm looks outstanding. If we got those two, one more season-long loan and a Bosman I would be happy with that. If we were to get a central midfielder, I would like it to be Moutinho.

It’s not looking good when the Liverpool Daily Post says: "Marseille’s captain Lorik Cana, meanwhile, has again gone public in his desire to speak with Everton officials but a move for the Albanian is not on the cards."
