Moyes in Turner Sniff

Comments (12)

Word has it Moyes has almost conceded defeat in the Lescott/Man City saga. Lescott has demanded talks about their enquiry and at the very least wants to talk to them about what is on offer. This has prompted Moyes to start the search for his replacement.

Michael Turner is currently the name being touted about by the Red-tops with a staggering £8 million fee to be paid to the Tigers. Where this price has been plucked from God only knows.

Yes prices are over inflated this season, but the difference between Lescott and Turner in class and achievements is dramatically different. Surely a fee just under the £5 million mark would be more appropriate, and possibly worth a punt.

Realistically Lescott will drop his pants for the amount of cash he will be offered at City so a replacement is essential, but I do strongly believe we must push for a minimum of £20 million plus Onouha or Richards as both impressed recently for the U21's and have age on their side.

David, I dont know where you get you info from re. Moyes conceding defeat but I do hope it's as reliable as your assessment of Richards in the recent U-21 tournament.

Richards was shit last season for City and shit in the U-21 tournament playing against boys his own age but half his size.

He may well be an athlete but he is not a good enough footballer to replace Lescott.

If Lescott has asked to speak to City then I would much rather see us take £18-£20m plus Onuoha for Lescott if thats the case, at least then we’d get a lot of cash to hopefully go towards the kitty and an up-and coming English centre-back that would be a decent replacement and within years to come, become a top defender for are club! With the money then we could go out and sign a decent right-back, right-sided midfielder and a holding midfielder and one or two squad fillers.

I watched that Rasmus Elm tonight on Eurosport playing in a Champions League qualifier and his side got knocked out so hopefully with them in no European competition at all this season, the ball will start rolling on that deal and this is one we should look to get tied up quickly because, from what the commentators were saying, this lad as got a lot of interest in him from the likes of Bayern, Ajax, Sevilla and PSV.

So Moyesy, get your finger out and get this deal sorted because, just from what I saw tonight, he would be a good signing for us, can play anywhere across midfield, mainly over on the right, has good movement, gets into good positions and areas, spots things quickly and as a great eye for a pass, likes to get forward and he scores goals too as he got two for his team tonight and hit the bar with a free-kick.

And oh yeh, he’s got a Delapesque throw too in is harmoury so that could be a useful weapon for us to have with the like’s of Cahill, Fellaini etc in are side!

I do have a source who is very close to Man City in South Africa at the moment and he tells me that Lescott is desperate to talk to City. Of course, that could well be the biased view of people in the City camp, but personally I think the silence of Lescott and John Terry on this subject suggests they are both interested.

Personally, I loathe the way they are trying to drive a train through Moyesie’s plans and I have never liked Mark Hughes much either. They are rapidly falling into the same category as Chelsea.

More guesswork, imaginings and supposition! If David Moyes doesn’t want to sell Lescott he doesn’t have to, simple as that. He’s got three years, I believe, on his contract and as if Moyes wants to keep him he can even against his "desperation" to talk to City, which I reckon is a load of utter shite by the way.

I can’t understand why people feel the need for Lescott to come out and state anything. I believe Moyes already has though, last week: "None of my players are for sale."

We should still hold out for £30m for Lescott. If City want him, they will pay it. If 25% (can someone confirm?) has to go to Wolves, that leaves £22.5m.

£10m for a replacement should be enough, such as Michael Turner, Gary Cahill or Matthew Upson. That leaves £12.5m.

£12.5m plus this season’s transfer budget (£5m-£10m) should be enough to get either Defour or Moutinho.

If we sell a player that wants to play for money and get in Defour/Moutinho and Turner/Cahill/Upson, then I’d be happy.

David, Where did you get "Word has it" from?

It was reported in one media outlet so that makes it Word has it?

Lescott appeared to be totally enjoying himself with the Everton squad the other day so any suggestion that he has pleaded with Moyes to let him talk to City seems to me to be fantasy made up by a Manchester Journo.

I may be wrong but I believe the character of the Everton squad is they want to show these overpaid overhyped mercenaries how to succeed — and he won't do that at City.

I do think this Turner link is the very definition of bored tabloid journalist bollocks but, should we indeed "swoop" for the lad, I actually think he seems decent. And bear in mind no-one exactly had high hopes when Moyes splashed out on mediocre Wigan defender Leighton Baines (I certainly didn’t!) and for me he was our second-best player last season after Jags.

Doesn’t it give you the shits that we buy a player from a lower league team, who is developed by our excellent manager to the status of earning his first England cap, but is now being potentially tempted away by an inferior club?

So, City are sinners for enticing Lescott away from us. And to show our class and dignity, we propose to do exactly the same with Turner.

Does the inherent hypocrisy in these positions suggest that such posts are lacking a little something? Relevance to the real worlld of football, perhaps? The entertainment (God help us) industry / business. The one where businessmen make decisions and feed the jackasses nonsensical notions such as class, dignity, we’re a family blah blah. The one where the jackasses swallow the lies wholesale and come back for more till they reach the point where the insult to their intelligence is such that they say: stuff this. They’ve had enough money from me.
