Possible Takeover?

Comments (33)

Yes I know I will get slated and people will say, oh no here we go again, but this seems to have a lot more authenticity...

Heres hoping... although I'm sure Everton will find someway to mess this up...

The Grand Old Team forum are reporting that a UAE investment group have held talks with Bill; however, from what it says, it seems they are only interested if the new ground gets the go-ahead... oh and they also want to speak to the redshite too!!!!

I also noticed on the report about the UAE investment group that it states that the investor wants to build a football village next to the ground. Well, that screws us as we can't build one next to Goodison and I can't see us getting permission to build one next to the Tescodrome if we get the go ahead for that.

If, as Terry Beeken states, that they are interested in the Shite too it seems to be falling in their lap as haven’t the LCC given them planning permission to build on Stanley Park? And they could always knock down Anfield and create space for some of this football village there. This stadium debacle may yet scupper our future for any tidy investors.

This isn’t just a case of ’Show me the money’. If, for instance, this new UAE conglomerate offer manifests itself into a reality and a load of money is flung around — just who is left with the debt if they ever pull out? The club or the UAE lot? If the latter — I’m all for Moyes having a chance to finally mix it on a level playing field with the others. If it’s the club... we may just find ourselves a different kind of UAE... Under Administration Everton.

Jim, the UAE rumours sound just like another BK fucking fairy tale. How convenient, just as the fans are getting disgruntled at Bullshit Billy, a story appears saying investors are interested all of a sudden but they want a fairy tale village next to a new stadium. You really couldn’t make this shit up if you tried, a football village are they having a laugh?

Name me one football stadium with a football village next to it? Hotel and leisure maybe but some bleeding village? “The interesting proposition for the group is Everton’s new stadium plans. Nathaniel’s client’s vision — for whichever club he ultimately owns — is to build a football village alongside the ground."

No doubt some of the apologists will be yet again lured in like sheep to Kirkby being the utopia to save us with a fairy tale "football village" next to it.

Far too many people can’t remember football before Sky. Back in the 60s, Everton were the equivalent of your Chelski and Man Shitty, we simply outbid other teams and took our pick. It’s the same but just on far more eye watering levels. The "money can’t buy you everything lines" wears thin very quickly as more and more teams start to do so.

Don’t mind me asking but what exactly is a ’football village’?

Does it come complete with village idiots, trusty yeomen, horny handed sons of the soil and a village bike who lives in the council houses?

Or is it a place that sells overpriced nylon crap and pencil sharpeners with a bit of latin on them?

Just wondering.

We wait once more with bated breath... however, what would make a great deal of sense is that the consortium purchases both LFC and EFC and puts a joint Stadium on Stanley park as the centre of a football village of red and blue..

If they have the money, if the clubs have the will and if the fans could live with it..

Don;t you love what ifs?

Christine a shared stadium makes so much sense financially but the RS would never wear it. BK will probably balls it up too or his real masters just block it.

Is it me or does this seem like the kind of rumour that will be used as an excuse to not sign anyone i.e that we are waiting to see how much money we have to splash when we are loaded so there is no need to spend on players that wont make it when we do have cash. Not that i dont trust the chairman not to do such a thing, sorry must go, choking

The club have denied this so I would like the company supposedly trying to buy Everton to really make something of this in the press. So far there has never been any real solid proof that Kenwright has turned investment away, it’s only ever been hearsay. So if these guys are for real I want to hear more from them about their intentions and the fact they’ve made a formal bid. They don’t need to talk about figures, just make a statement that they have made a formal bid to buy Everton FC.

Kenwright will then have to come out and give some reasons as to why he’s turned investment away especially after all his "24/7" bullshit.

Alan - terrific point. At the moment, it’s a media report. As you say, if the interest is real, and they were to formally declare interest, we’d soon find out for real what BK’s intentions are. Would sure stop some of the rants on this site, or give them substance.

Why is it when we are trying to sign a player, there is never any news from the club for weeks and when there is a sniff of a takeover rumour (with the speed of lightening bolt) our PR department are on it dismissing it!!! You can see why there are conspiracy theories.

I’m the same as most fans who post on here, we fear the worst, hope for the best. Talk of a takeover, BK has told us he has asked Keith Harris to help, do you think, instead of asking the Investment Banker, he went to Keith Harris, the man with one arm up a duck called Orville?

Ah well, back to hoping for the best, fingers crossed, lucky heather and all that.

Alan Clarke, I don't understand your reasoning here, mate. Why should any potential investor show their hand and go public in the press just to appease fans' fears? Most of these big corporations want to keep cards close to thier chest when doing buisness and football is no different.

When the Arabs took over at Man City, it was in the news one day and a few days later it was job done. If there was interest in Everton from foriegn investors and Kenwright knocked it back, why should they go public? They simply move on to the next club and say, "It's your loss, Buddy!"

Tony, it’s more wishful thinking. There’s no reason why any investors would declare their hand publicly. I’m just sick of all the hearsay and would like some actual proof that BK is turning investors away. Then there would be the riot that you’ve suggested.

It’s all so........STUPID!

I mean let’s think about this.

Some feller called Chris Nathaniel (so not just ’some feller’) says..

"I can confirm I am acting on behalf of a UAE-based business consortium, who are chaired by a prominent Dubai businessman, and that I am currently in discussions with a number of Premier League clubs, one of which is Everton Football Club"

Fairly specific.

However, Ian Ross Everton’s ’head of communications’ (takes 15 minute laughter break), says "the rumours are baseless".

So there you have it - Ross is telling us that some feller, COMPLETELY OUT OF THE BLUE, for NO reason whatsoever, decides to completely invent a rumour.

A BASELESS rumour!

Nathaniel could have said "Ronnie Corbett’s nobbing Jordan!".

He could have said "I’m representing a group of millionaires who are hoping to buy an Egyptian Pyramid and have it shipped brick-by-brick to Leeds".

He could have said "I saw Lord Lucan riding Shergar...bollocko!" (Lord Lucan..obviously).

Instead he says he’s representing people possibly intereseted in buying Everton.

Incredible really, when you think of aaaaaaaall the baseless rumours one could invent, he invented THAT one.

My guess is Everton will sue Nathaniel (under sub-section 5 of the pants on fire act)

Don’t get me wrong, I hope these people have fuuck all to do with us.

After all, Nathaniel also stated...

"The interesting proposition for the group is Everton’s new stadium plans" and his client’s vision for whichever club he ultimately owns "is to build a football village alongside the ground. It’s about purchasing a club as a viable business proposition. It’s not about owning a trophy, it’s a sound business venture".

(still...all very specific for a baseless rumour..or maybe he’s just good with the oul’ verisimilitude?)

My point is why do Everton have to act like big soft kids with a secret and worse, treat US like big soft kids?

Why can’t Ross simply say "there has been some very informal exploratory discussion, nothing of any real substance"? etc

Personally I hope Nathaniel gets caught in The UAE having an adulterous affair with the Sheikh’s missus (during a week when there’s a two-for-every-one offer on floggings).

And Ross is caught in bed with them....bladdered!

You either want the investment from some stupidly rich party (in which case you have to accept that we need to move stadium), or you want to stay at Goodison (in which case you have to accept that the financial input will not come). City would never have been invested in, to this extent, had they still been at Maine Road.

In these debates we have a majority in favour of staying at Goodison and a majority in favour of investment. It just doesn’t make sense — make you minds up.

It is rather interesting that Everton says that the rumours are baseless, having reacted with unusual swiftness to nip this in the bud.

The person in question is QUOTED, as saying that the consotrium in question is in "negotiation with several clubs, including Everton."

Newspapers make up a lot of stuff, but you can’t really manufacture a direct quote

from someone. It would usually be "sources acting on behalf of UAE consortium (unnamed) say, etc.."

So assuming this person indeed said this, what exactly is "baseless". Does this named person have fuck all better with his time than to make up a perfectly pontless rumour involving Everton, or is it the club’s cunning manner of dealing publicly with such dealings.

What is going on?

It's about time the club gave us some answers and not just laughed things like this off. I have been one of BK's biggest supporters but he needs to come out and give a full statement as to these rumours and where the club stands on investment. What is the problem with them letting us know what is going on if the other party have released a statement to say they are interested give us a reason why they are not suitable, the lack of communication at this club is very bad at the best of times.

And Tony Marsh, you are right about the amount of information these people release but they can't just keep fobbing us off — we want answers.

If the later is true forget about who it involves, BK & Elstone should jump on the next flight and tell Mr Nathaniel why it should be us they invest in!

The problem with that, Dave is that the conversation would come to an abrupt end at this point!

Mr Nathaniel: "Ok, everything sounds great, so let's talk numbers, how much do you want for EFC?"

BK: “Here we go… oh please… come on!”

Mr Nathaniel : "You’re not answering the question…”

BK: "I’m not answering your question… I’m bored with your question… you’re not getting an answer to the question.”

The plot thickens yet again with Elstone now admitting he was in talks with Nathaniel a year ago.

To all those who say anybody approaching EFC with an interest to buy would be all over the media please note.

It also took 5 years for the media to catch that Lerner was interested in EFC before he took over Villa.

Very funny Dan.

There, it’s all been a big misunderstanding. The press don’t half write some shite.

How exactly have Nathaniel’s claims been exposed as phoney?

The fact is that there is claim and counterclaim, both contradicting each other - the only thing we can say with certainty is that someone is lying. I know who my money would be on.
