Michael Ball

Comments (14)

I read a few weeks ago that Michael Ball was released by Man City. Now, Everton are looking for squad cover at left back and centre half. He's a blue, going for free and lives local. He is also a proper footballer and appears to have got over his injury problems. Give him a year and see how it goes — otherwise we'll be back in for Pistone!

A very good shout Paul. If were are as scint as we all believe, Bally represents a worthwhile choice to do both jobs. At least he was trained as a youngster the correct way. Good call!

I’ve been suggesting Ball for a while now. He costs the right amount for Everton i.e. nothing wouldnt be on big money as big a blue as any of us would be happy to back even only as cover with a few carling cup games thrown in.

As he’s free it wouldn’t be a bad move for cover.

Bring back Valente. Dont know why we let him go.
Nuno can also play in midfeld.

It seemed strange that noone had signed him already, so I checked his wikipedia page and read this - "At the end of January 2009 Ball had an knee operation on his left patella tendon, will be out of action for 7-12 months".

Not much use then as cover for Jagielka !

Poor lad, those damn knee injections we gave him to save us from relegation are still impacting today. Get well lad and pull a blue shirt on.

Mauritz Volz is also on a free too if we are looking for a right back! Played for arsenal and fulham, plenty of experience, and still only 26 years old!

Mauritz Voltz, if he was any good he’d still be at Arsenal. Or Fulham even. Do we really want Fulham cast-offs?

For goodness sake, why not get Gravesen, Unsworth & Co back? We don't want finished players.

Utter load of nonsense.

I agree we do not want to turn the clock back, Next we will be looking to swap Lescott for Dunne. We need bright new young talent like Elm

Yes, we do want young talent. No, we don’t want players who are finished. But we do need to have experienced cover for a variety of positions & we don’t have money to spend to get it. Were he fit, & Moyes felt he could do a job for us, Ball would be worthy of consideration.

Oh, & as far as I can recall we did get Gravesen & Unsworth back, Jeffers & Ferguson too — with varying degrees of success, of course.

Moyes has stated he needs defenders for our club. As a fan, I wouldn't like us to splash the cash on defenders, so why not go for the free and look at Lucas Neill, and Michael Ball? Both experienced, both talented, both free, why not?
