About time....

Comments (6)

I'm fed up to the back teeth about stories of how much the young lads enjoyed watching a Mariners' game, Freddie Ljungberg's tips for the Premiership in 2009-10, how Louis Saha has realised that Utah is warmer than Sefton or even how David Moyes thinks the MLS has really come on.

How about some stories about Everton, about continued search for investment, about the constant Lescott will-he won't-he saga or even (as we're not allowed to trigger meetings anymore) some comment from Bill with reassurances about investment in the team or even his expectations for the coming season?

I'm not going to go all Football Manager on you, but I would like to know that efforts are continuing with reference to Moyes' hope (or was it a promise) that transfer business would be done early this year. I'm probably clutching at straws and I know we're more likely to get a "Breaking News" story on the website about Phil Neville knocking out some Gloria Gaynor karaoke in a downtown bar in Salt Lake City.

I guess I'm just fed up of being treated like a mushroom when I put money into the club year in, year out.

Sounds like you’ve arrived at the right place... albeit hearsay, supposition and guess work. Bill’s bored of anyone daring to question him, Elstone’s proving the point that even those with what seem like good intentions and common sense do not have the power to carry out their convictictions without a transfer budget in place(?). Davey Moyes has all the ammunition he needs even without Lescott leaving to point the finger elsewhere if we don’t excell or sustain last season’s impressive (given what we have available) run.

Welcome to the cheery party.

No-one is going to tell you anything about investment or signings in a public forum. It was ever thus.

What - you are no seeing any decent communication from Eveton? but surely this cannot be true afterall Bill said at the latest Shareholders Forum quote "The agenda today is all about communication. As has always been the case at Everton we stand up on every issue…nothing is off limits tonight…no sense of a closed door or a closed mind…that’s not the way Everton are…Everton are proud of the way it communicates.” - So you must be mistaken.

Good post Mark. I’m loathe to criticise Moyes but in terms of PR he sets the tone for the whole miserable out-of-season experience. I know he is in the business of winning football matches and getting together a solid team but it would be good just once in a while to hear from the horse’s mouth of some of the club’s efforts to sign quality players.

Last year was the worst. After the event it was clear that Blue Bill and Moyes had done their best to bring in players with their limited budget but by that time a lot of fans were left with a really bitter taste at the lack of communication from the club when it appeared we didn’t even have enough professionals to take the field in the opening games.

Why should Moyes say something, or BK for that matter?

Let's face it if he says they are targeting x, y or z player then the price goes up, it flags other teams to look... and when it doesn’t happen the reaction is everything from ’Another cunning smoke screen from the lying bastards’ to ’ Shit! kick out blunder boy Bill’ for not making it happen.

If they keep schtum then at least they can't say one thing and end up being forced to do something else due to whatever circumstances they find themselves in.

Let them be to do business on the QT, and when they have something worth while to say I am sure they will speak out.

From my own experience, business deals are complicated and nerve wracking enough without everyone looking over your shoulder and making comments. They are the men in charge so we have to leave them to get on with it and trust them - because we have no other choice.

BTW I for one think that securing Jo for another season for free is like getting a £20million player for nothing — oh hold on — it is.

Do people really think its better to spend £20million for a player than to get him free? He is still our player, and he is good (could be better) but he is ours and he will do the job for us. Yet another fantastic bit of work by the Everton Management team —I think it's time people at least congratulated them for that instead of complaining all the time!
