The Mail Bag

Today's match

This could be a real tough game to win in light of the injuries and the long trip to Belarus. Stoke are a very big physical side who are going to be a real danger with their 4 centre backs especially when they come forward for throw-ins and corners. Playing Hibbert again in the middle would be suicide if Yobo is out. Certainly that will be Stoke's main ploy and Everton need to keep possession for long spells and not surrender the ball cheaply like they usually do.

Can’t see team news yet anywhere, but I’d punt for a starting line-up of:

Howard
Hibbert - Yobo/Heitinga - Distin - Baines
Osman - Rodwell - Felliani - Billy
Cahill
Saha

With:
Neill, Yakubu, Gosling and Jo plus a youngster on bench ready to come on as/when

That Iraqgoals link isnt live (yet) but also have a look at

which should go live at kick off.

Wonder if Hibbo is gonna be given another chance at CB? Is Moyes gonna risk that in the prem?... COYB

You know even though we haven't hit top gear yet this season, if we win today, we're 3 points behind Arsenal who smacked our arse first game of season. So we can't be that bad.

Blimey, I was close there! Got Cahill and Felli wrong way round.

Although I’m not up for the usual player-knocking, I’m not convinced about logic of Osman as captain with the likes of Cahill, Distin and Baines out there, maybe Moyes is trying to boost the lads confidence. He doesn’t strike me as a shouter/leader though.

Stoke closing our left side down really quickly - Bainsey and Billy are finding it tougher than usual to switch play. Rodwell flying the ball about with confidence and Fellaini looking good, along with Osman. Not much from our right hand side at all, not Hibbo’s fault, nothing ahead of him to help the cause

What does Cahill have to do to be captian?

Looks a great role model off the pitch and shows so much passion on it.

Who should've been on the back post for their goal?

Aye. These are the games you need to win to clinch 4 or 5.

Never really get that feeling of progression with a result like this.

You just know the Sky 4, Spurs and probably Villa would've all got a home win against Stoke today.

That was a stressfull 90 mins flicking between links. At least Beattie didn't score though. With regards to who should have been on the back post for their goal, isn't it the full-back who should cover that? Not wanting to have a pop at big Tone...

Paul, not sure if Hibbo can be blamed for not marking Robert Huth.

Anyway, it is not the goal that mattered today, but the fact we didn't put our chances away. 2 points dropped, no doubt about it. Thank god Ossie popped up to get a point for us. That literally came out of nowhere. That was the finest strike I have seen at GP for a long long time.

Don't get me wrong, Dan I'm not blaming Hibbo for their goal, it was just a thought about who should be on the line. I agree it was a great goal from Osman
