The Mail Bag

Everton v Wolves

Comments (146)

Team for today :

Howard, Hibbert, Yobo, Distin, Baines, Osman, Rodwell, Heitinga, Bilyaletdinov, Cahill, Saha. Subs: Nash, Jo, Gosling, Yakubu, Neill, Fellaini, Coleman

Is it me, or does anyone else think this line-up is, well, a bit negative. Especially with what looks like 2 defensive midfielders starting (Rodwell and Heitinga). I mean come on Moyesy, we're at home, to Wolves!

Hey Martin
I too live abroad but manage to watch most games. As long as you have access to a PC you can usually come onto toffeeweb and follow the matchday thread and the lads will give you some links.
If you’re interested you can download sopcast which is free and then if you join www.livefootballstreams.co.uk, its a one of payment of 30 quid, that will give you all the live links, many for each game, its pretty good, though you might have to turn off your fire wall to watch.

I’m waiting to see it the usual ’iraqgoals.net’ link comes up trumps.

If its not a particularly big fixture (like this), the streaming is often quite poor due to the lack of showings accross the world.

COYB!!!

Subs: Nash, Gosling, Jo, Yakubu, Coleman, Fellaini and Neill.

Looks a decent team, should be lookin for a win here.

I am normally a Moyes fan but after that 1st half he needs to take a look at himself. We have been rubbish against a side that our quite poor. They have had more of the ball than us and could quite easily be winning.

We are at home, we are playing 2 holding midfielders and only 1 forward. How negative can you be?

It is embarrassing!

Take off Hibbert & Osman, bring on the Yak & Gosling. Go 4-4-2, tell the boys to play some football and we will win. Simple as

This is so poor. When is Moyes going to learn? We are at home to Wolves, with the players we’ve got, we should be winning easily. Instead we play two defensive midfielders and only one striker. How are we going to win any game like that?

Negative tactics by Moyes I must admit. Why no Fellaini instead of Heitinga in midfield? We’re giving away possession to a poor visiting team, what’s going on? C’mon Moyes, make the changes.

Fellaini for Heitinga to start and if still no score with 30 to go, Yakubu for Rodwell.

I’m surprised no-one has mentioned the moment where Hibbert broke down the right, Osman tripped him, and they both fell flat on their faces. Kind of sums it up for me.

I was thinking that Moyes needs to give the team a bollocking at half time but how can he when he’s the architect of the problems?

If he insists on playing Hibbert and/or Osman against all reason then it’s so obvious to at least not put them on the same flank.

A bit of a strange game that. Totally rubbish first half followed by a good second half let down by some rather inept defending.

I feel we really missed Pienaar today but we didn’t help ourselves by playing two defensive midfielders. I suspect that, if we had started with a proper two up front, we may have got the win.

To be honest the league form doesn’t really worry me too much. I expect we’ll finish Top 10 which isn’t bad considering almost every team in the league is now owned by billionaires.

Personally, what excites me most is the prospect of winning the Europa League. I really believe we have a shot at that.

Dick......in two words: Fuck Off!

I take it you are happy with the constant 4-5-1 at home to crap like Wolves then???

Yeah Dick, 2pts from a possible 12 against those top sides of Burnley, Fulham, Stoke and Wolves. Apart from Arsenal, we haven’t acctually played anyone of note yet.

I watched the Villa/Chelsea game earlier and to think that they went a goal down, still played good football and come back to win is something I’ve not seen Everton do for a while.

I’ll stick with my original thoughts before the season started: Villa, Spurs and Man City will all finish above us. Don’t think Stoke and Wolves will go to Villa Park, White Hart Lane and Eastlands and get anything from those this season. 8th for me it is!

Wake up Joe McMahon and Brian Waring, this is the best league in the world.

Add to that we are short some of our best and most important players Arteta, Jagielka, Pienaar, Neville and Yakubu (still not fit). Results like this happen:

Man Utd 2-2 Sunderland
Wigan 3-1 Chelsea
Aston Villa 0-2 Wigan.

It's only a game you know. I’m sure the team will improve soon. No point getting into a sulk over it.

Chris Whitby, thanks for the link, it was excellent.

Joe M and Brian W: calm down whilst our football isn't great at the moment, it's still early days and there’s a few decent players to come back from injury. Yak's starting to gain form, Heitinga and Bily are getting better with every game, and we are more than capable of going on long unbeaten run. COYB on Thursday nite.

At the end of the day we have the recession, lack of jobs, swine flu and soldiers being killed in Afganistan to worry about.

Not really that bothered Everton dropped two points to Wolves.

You’d be bothered if you’d paid gone money to watch that shite.

I think you're demeaning what a lot of long suffering punters have to put up with — the conservative tit that is David Moyes.

Dick, you’re raising some good points but I feel this might not be the place to be doing it mate!

Right, I'm off to get pissed (with whoever makes beach balls) hopefully it will make match of the day look better for our usual last-team up slot! Not that we deserve any better after that!
