Perception of Events

It is interesting to me, espeially given the recent articles in this site concerning the injuries Everton currentyly suffer and the media coverage typically provided: the BBC and many sites are currently loudly proclaiming that Rafa's injury list is "the worst during his 5 year reign". The Reds have Gerrard, Reira and Torres out.

According to the EFC website there will be 10 first team players missing from the squad to face Benfica.

It is interesting to see the reactions of both managers and the reaction by the press to what they say — perhaps some budding journo should point out to Rafa what a real crisis is — but then (cheap shot alert) perhaps because LFC only have two players of quality, they really are in a crisis.

Sadly missing a GK but how about this for a team:

GK - ?
RB - Heitinger
CB - Yobo
CB - Jags
LB - Neill
RM - Osman
CM - Neville
CM - Arteta
LM - Piennar
ST - Vaughan
ST - Anichebe

Now whilst they are not all first choice players they have all played a role for Everton in the last couple of years. But none of them are available tonight.

I hope everyone really gets behind our boys tonight cos they will need it.

You could stick Ruddy in goal as he’s out on loan at the moment...

Steve, that is truly shocking ! But (as Moyes and Leighton Baines mentioned in the OS), I think that in a strange way it plays to Everton’s advantage. We always seem to do well in an adversity.

My predictions for the next 3 games:

Benfica 1 - Everton 1
Bolton 1 - Everton 3
Tottenham 2 - Everton 2 (Everton on penalties/replay)

I’m fed up with Moyes whingeing.
On the basis of the display in the last two games and allowing for even more excuses from Moyes the following results are more likely:

Benfica 3 Everton 0
Bolton 1 Everton 0 (backs to the wall stuff)
Spurs 5 Everton 0 (DM fields the reserves as a protest)

Perhaps then Moyes will finally realise he hasn’t got what it takes and we can find a manager who has.

If Billy boy won’t sack him the fans probably will.

Eric; Interesting point about the fans ’sacking’ Moyes. I believe it was Blue Bill his self that told Walter he had to go coz the fans were on his back. Oh, and by the way, have you any idea as to a replacement, some one young who will see it as a step up (aka cheap).
