Kirkby Again!?

Comments (7)

Please BK, do NOT let Mandelson anywhere near this subject. We have enough problems without involving this government in what is already a shambles. We have wasted heaven knows how much in feasibility studies and tied ourselves in exclusive partnerships denying ourselves the ability to negotiate with whom we wish. Presumably we have something in the kitty which we can use to redevelop GP — that's where we belong; end of story !

I am quite sure LCC will give us the go ahead regarding Bellfield if it meant the start of a gradual redevelopment of Goodison.

You’re assuming Labour get voted back in. The tories couldn’t give a toss about Liverpool, see Boris Johnson’s comments.

Even in a good economic climate, I wouldn’t let this government near a project for a shed in my garden.

By the time they’d employed vastly expensive consultants to establish meaningless targets for this and strategies for that, followed by more enquiries chaired by cronies and the establishment of a few Quangos they can sit on when they get fired, there’d be nothing left to fund the project. anyway.

But as I said in this climate don’t expect any help or cash from that source.

Are Everton still under any agreement, legal or otherwise with Tesco, or have all ties now been cut? Can Everton now openly look for new commercial partners and/or locations to build a stadium?

Exclusivity agreement would’ve ended with the ballot.

A red herring if ever there was one.

Tony - so here we have it. A simple test. BK says, according to TW "the chapter is over and the book is closed." So any resurrection of that scheme might demonstrate what some posters on here think about the chairman to be true, that he tells fibs and never knew his father. We will have to wait and see. Mind you, they’d probably say that if he found a site in Speke.

Of course there’ll be another stage to Tesco’s plans to redevelop Kirkby, but Everton won’t be part of it. tesco playa long game & although they may have to trim back the scale of the development, they’ll still get something they find acceptable out of it. Tesco’s strategy seems to be to ask for everything & then see how much they actually get - confident they’ll generally get at least what they’re entitled to & often a bit more.
