Bad feeling - we are gonna get battered....Coleman and Hibbo...good god.
We played q well in patches on Sunday though, looks like Moyes is trying to stick by what’s the of the team that played the RS.
Anyone got any links though?!?
Wow what a surprise Hibbert CB.

I was sending this when we scored. Bily!
Goal from Bily - Everton 1-0
Gosling on the stretcher after 10 mins... not sure yet who’ll replace him in midfield
Looks like Baxter is the replacement on right side of midfield.
Anybody got any radio links?problems with the TV links in my office

I’m glad Baxter is on.

Looks like a rugby pitch and it’s coming down in buckets...Gosling slipped in a puddle and did his hamstring
Well i would prefer Baxter to Gosling anyway so good!
Jo playing well...and he laid off the ball for Bily for the goal.
Now Distin is down

Any description of the goal?
Looks like Jo finally understands the offside law!
Got a working stream.....http://www.atdhe.net/10694/watch-aek-athens-vs-everton-fc
Happy to see Baxter on, just can’t believe the injuries. The true evertonian in me thinks we’ll hold onto to this with some ease only for the ref to call it off ten mins berfore full time ’cos of the rain!!
Bily-what a finish!
Jo held off two on the edge of the box as Bily made a dash into the area from the left. Jo slipped him in, keeper came forward and Bily powered in into the top corner from about seven yards
Header from Cahill down to Jo on the edge of the box. Jo tussled with 2 defenders and laid it off to Bily overlapping on the left who despatched a thundering blast into the top of the net from about 8 yards out.
Michael,
Ball played upto Jo just inside the box,he held off 2 defenders & layed it to Bily who placed a left footer past the on rushing keeper into the roof of the net. Good finish. Good strength from Jo as well for a change!
Split the difference.
I think there are more people logged onto TW than fans in the stadium
Nice dummy from Duffy in his own box, even fooled himself
Who are the commentators on iraq goals?!
Hibbo’s gonna get sent off in this.
Hibbo with a lovely tackle...Bobby Mooresque
Hibbert got away with that. Good challenge as last man. Good job ref is on his game. Other Euro refs would be pulling out a seond yellow.
Jo’s best game by a mile. Hibbert is doing his usual ball watching and will be lucky to stay on the pitch.

Dirty dive after Hibbert’s tackle. Good performance so far.
Impressed with Baxter and Coleman so far. Showing good maturity and sense on the ball. Cahill looks like he’s found how to play again.
Great Everton support at the match, any ideas how many travelled??
2 more injuries... and we have not even reached half time!
Baxter, Coleman, Duffy - true indications that we are really down to bare bones.
Assured defending from Coleman so far
It’s against different opposition but the way those three have played so far it’s a damn sight better than waht we’ve seen from others over the last few weeks.
Fingers crossed there’ll be no more injuries tonight though.
Good, solid performance so far.
Said it before & i’ll say it again, Cahill HAS to play off the striker or else his game is pretty limited.Felli looks more comfortable than Cahill playing a deeper role.
AEK Reserves 0 Everton Under 21s 1 - I’ll take that though! Baxter looks decent.
Watching on ESPN. Crap surface, yet more injuries and a very makeshift defence. I’d take 1-0 and no more bloody injuries!
The young lads look ok, although, this is a really poor AEK side. Lay off Hibbert, he’s doing ok.
Is it me or is Fellani everywhere? He must like the wet.

Fellaini has looked promising again recently.
David: agreed. I guess every cloud has a silver lining. The kids will probably have gained valuable experience and extra playing time.
Tsk,tsk, tsk the last two punters when will you ever learn, instead of concentrating on the good team performance and the youngsters you should be knocking down Hibbert, dont you know?!?
Hibbert out! There, got to get it out of the system first.
Again Pienaar looks fantastic in the middle. Hope Davey keeps him there when Arteta returns...now that will be a creative central midfield.
Good stuff from the young’uns all round.
Bily being effective down the left.
As above the Big Fella doing well in a deeper role.
Hibbo marshalling well from the back.
Jo playing his best so far this season. Now has a coupleof games under his belt.
According to the BBC Sport website, Tony Hibbert is making his 19th appearance for Everton in European competition, equalling the record currently held by Colin Harvey and Brian Labone.
That’s Labone, Harvey, Hibbert.
Any thoughts...?!
Perhaps the only way to squeeze Hibbo into the same sentence as Labone and Harvey
Mike, with 1 more game to come (at the very least), Hibbert could have the record all to his own. Now, given that he’s shite and the worst player many have ever known, that’s something worth thinking about!
I think we should replace the Dixie Dean statue with a Tony Hibbert one. Probaly end up facing the wrong way though....Only jokin Hibbo lovers.
Anyone still relying on commentary from TW?
I am,
keep it coming please!
FFS what hs hibbert got to do for a bit of recognition, He’s the only defender in this squad who can hold his head high this season
Cahill on a yellow now.
Absolutely abysmal freekick from Jo there...his only qualification for such matters is being Brazilian
Watching the game on ESPN, has the penny dropped, Moyes? Balance in midfield looks good, Felli holding with Pienaar, Bily wide with Baxter wide, Cahill supporting Jo... we look much much better. Better football on a shite pitch! Peanuts, Felli, Cahill and Jo have been excellent, this is the way forward, even if we lose tonight.
Good to see that Coleman is playing well. One thing though, our freekicks and corner kicks this season has been shite, and it doesn’t matter whoever is taking them! This is one (or two) area we need to get it sorted out.
Howard gets a yellow...timewasting!
Howard, despite the flood of goals this season, I think has looked rather good this year. Dealing with crosses better, and as always a brilliant shot stopper
Important block by Hibbert before that - while facing the wrong way!
Inches wide...actually clipped the post, from Athens. Defenders standing off a bit
Another injury? good god - we’ll end up with Sol Campbell at this rate!
Good stuff from Jo, beat his man to the left (surprise!) and sent his shot inches wide
We are sitting deep, not a good thing to do.
Argentine tart Blanco on for Athens
I’d have David Moyes at the back over Sol Campbell. Worryingly he’s been released from his Notts County contract
Fret not guys. There’s still the German lad. Not quite sure who else from the U21 we can call up to fill the bench next.
we are throug Benfica are 2-0 up COYB
Campbell moaned his way out of that contract...that’s it for me if DM signs that lump
He may have the 1st touch and control of a 4 yr old but at least Jo has put a shift in tonight! Just what was needed on this pitch.
Perhaps we can get a couple of our Under-10’s excused from P.E.
Is it me or is Baxter better than Osman?!

Baxter is better than Gosling anyway. More potential than Osman
Iain: AEK is pretty shite to draw out any conclusions.
BATE 1 Benfica 2
Jo down with a knee injury
jo is just playing. its Jo!
At this rate the U10s will be the only ones left fit!
Mike Allison (18:54)
Well done on picking up on Hibbo joining Labby and Colin. Many congratulations to Tony Hibbert for equalling their appearances.
OK, he’s no world beater, we know that - but it disheartens me to hear so much criticism of him. He is Everton through and through.
Goodness! Another hamstring? Let’s hope Jo is ok to continue.
The Yak is next to risk life and limb on this pitch
Wilson: True - but would Osman have done any better tonight?
Really didn’t want to see the Yak on that pitch...

The boys look busted.
Iain: Osman would have looked world class against them. AEK is that bad, seriously.
Duffy with that block...off the line just about...Howard beaten
Baxter with the clearance - to be honest they are much of a muchness!
That was beyond shite from Felli!
Great break by Pieenar, lay off to Fellaini on edge of the box, poor shot over the bar
Yak looks slow. Is he still not 100%?
All over th shop now. I’ve a fiver on our boys like!
Fellaini with an inexplicable attempt at a chip over the goalie after a long breakaway by Pienaar...had Yak to his left
Felli is shite. Cahill is shite. Hibbert is shite. Osman (even though he isn’t playing) is shite. Howard is shite. Yak is shite. Jo is shite.
Do we honestly have 11 players who aren’t shite?
Well done Wilson Tan(!!??), the retard award for tonight goes to you!
James: thanks. Been some time since I won an award ;)
We’re just packing the box now...7 mins left. everyone looks shattered
How many toffees fans there tonight?
U any good yourself Wilson?
to state the bleedin obvious we need another goal

@Wilson Tan...Maradona was shite, the Brazil ’70 team were shite....
IF Everton win this tonight, what an effort under extremely difficult circumstances. In fact, all Everton fans should turn up at the airport to see the boys sporting their blooded head bandages and crutches being led through customs by Moysie with a tin whistle playing "Dixie" and struggling with a heavy limp!
Rob: obviously, I’m not. But if you were following toffeeweb, all these players are supposed to be shite! I never quite understood what they need to do to win people over.
Baxters goal looked onside from other angle

Wilson Tan is shite...
Coleman lucky there...should have been a penalty to Athens...balances out the Baxter offside call
Seamus Coleman limping now, only 2 mins to go lad, hang on!
Well done Shane Duffy, Seamus Coleman and Jose Baxter, couldn’t have asked for more in difficult circumstances.
Cool Wilson, just asking cos we might need a few bodies to tog out this weekend!!
All over...Salute the heroes!
good result in the circumstances. especially with all the kids
BATE 1-2 Benfica
We are through
The plane should divert to Lourdes on the way back. Is there anyone left standing?
Great stuff .The lads were immense, especially Stevie P.Thankfully he didn’t get injured we look half a side with him playing. And my free fiver bet with paddy power is now worth 13 quid!!Nice wan ;-)
Wilson - Good win!
That’s the first sentence you’ve put together without the word "shite"........
Through with a game to spare - we’ll be able to give a few of the kids a run out in the last group game.
Pluses from the game:
Pienaar, Billy, Coleman, Duffy.
Cahill is definitely better playing up front (and behind the front man), with Felli playing deep. Best game for Jo, but pity he has gone off injured.
Mark - that was the kids playing - do we have more?
Gerry: Yes we do have more. At the rate the lads are getting injured, we should expect to see more of Agard, Hope, Mustafi, Peterlin and Wallace soon.
Anyone know what condition Stubbsy is in at the moment.... when needs must and all that!!
Just watched a replay of Bily's goal again... finally looks like we have a left foot to fill Kevin Sheedys left boot.
Good night for Irish Blues, Coleman and Duffy were brave and strong

Right, let the Hibbert bashing begin. How has this clown notched up a record number of European games etc etc blah blah blah.
Well played Hibbo, I for one think your dedication, determination and work ethic make up for your obvious lack of true class.
And you’re not a bad deputy centre half either.
Top lad.
Totally agree Michael. Ive just read down the list of posts on Toffeeweb tonight, starting with Iain Smith’s first post about Hibbo and Coleman playing. "Good god" he says. I hope he has eaten his words already. A man of the match performance from Hibbo i think. Not easy switching from right-back to centre-half but i thought for the two games he’s had to switch, he’s done it well. Especially with Coleman and Duffy in defence with him. I thought he done fantastic. He definately is a Top lad. COYB
Watched the game in USA on DirectTV. A solid performance from all concerned. Collectively they worked their socks off. Pienaar was a standout but credit too to the much maligned Jo who did a lot in this game,in addition to making the first goal. A captains performance from Cahill also. We deserved to hold out for the win when they threw everything at us in the last 10 minutes. Credit to the young kids.A part from getting lucky with the late penalty appeal, Coleman put the Benfica game solidly behind him
