Just wondering

Comments (8)

I have seen a recording of the "Bily" goal of Athens and wonder if anyone else has noticed any sort of likeness to Sheedy's goal in Rotterdam?

Please ignore such facts as they are both in blue and shoot with the left foot, I am more looking for the body posture.

Cheers guys (and gals)...

Yes Ian, I thought exactly the same when watching it again, they are very similar... I rate Bilyaletdinov very highly.

And he is our second highest goalscorer this season. I think if we encourage, value, and nurture this new signing (rather than rip him to shreds the minute he misses a chance), he could really be a hero. Other quality players like Saha and Peinaar around him and the crowd behind the whole team, he could contribute to an exciting future for the team.

I thought exactly the same thing when I saw it.

Ian - yes I know what you mean. Although Sheeds goal was from greater distance there are similarities between the players in Style (although Billy is more athletic - but who isn’t compared to Sheeds?).
Good to see another Blue in Wilmslow - I’m in Handforth.

Dermot, people can’t do that cos they concentrate too much on the price tag - ’well he cost 10 mill so he should be scoring goals for fun.’ The same is true for Fellaini - both players look very good technically, and are big in physical terms - and most Evertonians are looking forward to seeing the 2 alongside Arteta and Pienaar, but there are some who think that cos the 2 cost a combined £20 odd million, they should be world beaters here and now, when they’re only 21 and 24. Give it til next season, and we’ll see our money’s worth from these 2, as well as a whole midfield that cost less than 30 mill.

Could not agree more about giving our players (and manager) a bit of slack until we get over this sticky period caused, in the main part I believe, by the injuries.

I have been the searching posts between the unlucky derby loss and the gritty win in Athens where someone (I think it was Tony Marsh but apologies Tony if I am incorrect) who said something along the lines of ’...if I never saw Bily in an Everton shirt again I would be happy..’ to ask if that person was happy or not when Billy scored what I thought was far more difficult chance than the miss in the Derby.

I have a suggestion for TW which is to have a link to such utterances so we can all go back and gloat/take the piss etc when events do/don’t turn out as predicted.

I am happy to start the ball rolling by predicting that, if the Moyes haters get their wish and he walks and/or is pushed, we will be relegated in the same season (if mid-season walk out/sack) or the next season if he leaves in the close season.

Obviously I will be gutted if my prediction is correct but I am happy for you to record it somewhere easily accessible so that I can gratefully accept the abuse I would be due if the Moyes out brigade had been proved correct and all of a sudden we suffer no injuries, no bad luck and without the necessary financial backing we are taking on the Sky4/5/6 in both terms of attracting/paying the best players and playing football which looks like Arsenal at their piss taking best whilst grinding out results like Chelsea in their hayday!

Made exactly same comment to a fellow blue watching the game on TV in Malta! Bizarre! I think Bily is class. Give the lad time!

Chris - yet another Blue in Wilmslow

Ian/Chris - we’ll have to form a Wilmslow-based supporters network!

I think Bily will prove one of DM's better buys given time. A good goal return from midfield and an excellent left peg — both rare commoditiies.
