YADM this Sunday

So... with THREE more on the treatment table and Heitinga on a one-match ban, what side would you put out? My suggestion is:

Howard; Hibbert, Moyes, Stubbs, Baines; Pineaar, Cahill, Neill, Fellaini, Bilyaletdinov, Saha.

Bench: Nash, Coleman, Duffy, Baxter, Yakubu, Mustafi, Agard.

Only question I have is did Stubbsy have enough pace to cope with Defoe and has he now lost even that? On the other hand the experience of our two centre-halves will cope — difficult to run fast after the first two minutes when you have a dead leg.

What say you?

The team will be:

Howard; Hibbert, Neill, Duffy, Baines; Pineaar, Cahill, Rodwell, Fellaini, Bilyaletdinov, Jo

Moyes is pretty easy to predict.

Stubbs? If your gonna haul Stubbs out of retirement you might as well go the whole hog and play:-

Baines - Stubbs - Moyes - Hibbert.

Now thats a serious back line.

Can you imagine a central partnership of Hibbert and Duffy working against Spurs?

Keane, Dafoe & Crouch will think Christmas has come early.

Personally I think the only sensible option is:-

Baines - Hibbert - Neill - Coleman

Michael, not as silly as you might think.
Only difference being Holden as opposed to Stubbsy.

Heitinga is apparently suspended.

If I was Moyes I would be on the phone to Michael Ball. I think he’s still a free agent.

You do realise that Jack Rodwell has never played Centre Back? He has absolutely no experience in that position.

Imagine what Keane, Dafoe and Crouch would do to a first time Centre Back.

Dick Anderson.

I saw Rodwell play centre half against Northern Ireland a couple of seasons ago and he was magnificent.

It is his preferred position; furthermore, if Moyes is willing to throw him into the premier league in an alien position (centre mid) why not try him at centre half.

DIck Anderson - no no not at all i totally agree with your suggestion. I think my original prediction will be what we will get though, sadly! My team wasn’t one i would pick. Just what i think will be picked as Moyes is pretty easy to read. I would be very surprised if we get anything from the game. I can’t see anything but a heavy defeat on current form.

Rodwell (CB)
Baxter (RM)
Bily (LM)
Fellaini (DM)
Pienaar (AM)
Cahill (SS)
Saha (ST)

Rodwell may have played Centre Back at a youth level but he’s never played there in the Premiership.

Robbie Kean, Peter Crouch and Jermaine Dafoe are probably the best strike force in the Premiership.

Whoever we play against them is going to be in serious trouble.

Youngsters like Duffy and Rodwell should be protected from games like this. A teenage player will find it difficult to recover from a really bad roasting.

Lucas Neill on the other hand is an experienced pro on a massive wage.

Let Lucas Neill take the roasting I say. Neill’s the sort of player who won’t be worried by a roasting so long as he gets his wages.

Having all the defenders injured might mean we actually don’t play any defenders in midfield for once.

Dick: "Can you imagine a central partnership of Hibbert and Duffy working against Spurs?"

Why not? Duffy’s tall enough to trouble Crouch and Hibbert could deal with whichever nippy little one ’arry picks.

Or do I need to lay off the optimistic pills...

More seriously, Jack Rodwell has always been a centre half. He’s only played midfield since getting in the Everton first team. I’m fairly convinced Lucas Neill will start at centre back as well. Do we know that Yobo’s definitely unavailable?

Dick Anderson.

Fair enough. But my point is that Neill will have to be partnered by Hibbert, Duffy, Coleman or Rodwell at CB. I would go with Rodwell or Duffy but Moyes will go with Hibbert. Evertonians will not give anyone a roasting if they see potential and effort. These two lads would provide both in abundance.

Hopefully one of them will be back, and Neill should play alongside. Hibbert and Baines at full back then it wouldn’t be a bad team.

Midfield with Pienaar and Billy on the wings, Rodwell and Fellaini in the middle, and Cahill and Saha up front.

If Yobo or Distin’s injured, I’d personally play Duffy, as he is traditionally a centre half.

I’d play exactly the same team as Christopher McCullough but I’d swap Jo for Saha or Yakubu.

They both had a good rest on Wednesday so should be fit to start. Although Jo has showed flashes of quality this season, he just isn't good enough for the simple fact that he doesn't do enough, he doesn't commit himself, and he switches off all the time. It's as if his mind is somewhere else and not on the game

I'd definitely play Rodwell at centre-half even though he has got no experience cos don't forget how composed this guy is, he can handle a challenge and can be relied on. I think it would be a nightmare to play Hibbo and Duffy together (I wasn't even impressed with Duffy on Wednesday).

Dick Anderson - I saw Michael Ball last Saturday drinking in Allan Stubbs bar in Formby with a certain Mr Howard Kendall. It was 1 o’clock in the afternoon.

Howard was on the wine and Bally was drinking Becks. It was a shame really as I wanted them to be drinking sherry so I could say that I saw Kendall. Harvey’s and Ball.

Fantasy YADM? Who would have thought it possible?

Anyway, real YADM should come when the actual injury list is confirmed, but that can come very close to kick-off. A game on the edge.

Hibbert will play. Where?

451 - who will be 1 ???

Is it true what they say about Dixie?

We have to wait to see.

Unless its a brilliant ruse exploiting Harry Redknapp’s well-known obsession with Everton’s official website, Moyes is already signaling his plan to play Hibbert as center back. I’d imagine he’ll be joined there by either Neill or Rodwell. I would have said Neill, but I don’t know who would then fill right back. I do think height will be a factor in the decision. Hibbert is pretty short for a center back. It is essential that we attack. If we let them come at us, we are screwed.

I got it right last week, going for an incredible two in a row here. Bit difficult when we dont know who is 100% , but here goes:

Howard
Neill Yobo Hibbert Baines
Pienaar Rodwell Fellaini Bily
Cahill Saha.

If Yobo is out, Duffy in....
Think that will work!!!

Gosling, Distin, Jags, Yobo,

Anichebe, Jo.

Not a bad team that either...

Whatever team is picked MUST include Pienaar in centre midfield — he was exceptional against AEK and we must persevere with him there until Arteta is fit.

The defence will be whoever is fit!

It sounds like Yobo may well be available, if so my team would be:-

Howard

Hibbert
Yobo
Neil
Baines

Baxter
Fellaini
Pienaar
Bily

Cahill

Saha.

It will be Hibbert and Neill as centre halves. And Dick Anderson you obviously have forgotten that Anelka and Drogba play for the same club if you think the Spurs trio are better. I’m sorry but Keane is finished and Peter Crouch does not belong in the best of anything. Only my opinion mind you.

Rodwell did not look like a centre-half during pre season so I’d be loath to play him there. He was all over the place during those games. I’d be hoping one or both of Yobo & Distin make it, if not I’d play Lucas, Neill & Hibbert or Duffy if we have to before getting to Rodwell.

The team forecast in The Guardian today is -

Howard
Neill Hibbert Yobo Baines
Pienaar Rodwell Cahill Fellaini Bilyaletdinov
Saha

Still anyone’s guess, but Andy Hunter has his name on this one and he usually gets things right about us.

Spurs have been very attacking of late so we will have to hit them quickly on the counter, I would run with this:

Howard

Baines; Rodwell; Duffy; Neill

Hibbert (Just in front of back four to help out the youth)
Bilyaletdinov; Fellaini; Cahill; Pienaar
Saha

I’d like to see Duffy back in the squad. He looked nervous for his first few minutes of the AEK game but from then on he looked pretty good. Maybe he can settle in to the squad and play until Jags and/or Distin are back so Hibbo can play on the right.
