January transfers

Comments (29)

Not sure if we will have much (any) money, but Moyes has already suggested that he wants to bring in some fresh blood in January.

For me, our number one target should be Scott Parker. Intelligent footballer who can sit in front of the back four. He is the type of player we need in that he can be creative and dity. Argueably an international standard.

West Ham will need to sell players and I think it would be more than worth a cheeky offer.

Ok he fucked us over a few years back to go to Newcastle but a lot of water has gone under the bridge now.

Any takers?

Come on, us buy a midfielder - we are obviously going to buy another 2 full backs and 3 centre halves this January - those are the only players we ever seem to be linked with.

Any money we spend should be spent on the glaring deficiency in our team - creativity and PACE. However, we all know it wont.

As an aside why dont we sign Sol Campbell on a 6 month deal - I know he is getting on a bit now but he has to be better than playing people out of position - justy a thought, I am sure he is available as a free agent now.

Is it that time already?

Talk of ’cheeky bids’, ageing ’has beens’ and scraping the bottom of the barrel for another utility player?

I’d prefer if we didn’t bother...

Craig, Re Parker, several years ago he played at Goodison for Charlton and I thought he was the best opposition MF player I’d seen that season and was keen for us to sign him when he eventually went to the Barcodes. Since then I’m not sure he’s quite fulfilled his potential although is supposed to be playing well recently. Not sure he’d want to come "up North" again anyway.

We do not need wingers....as Moyes does not use them...We do need a creative central player though....as back up to Arteta....Youth I would suggest is the key to that one..

Jack Wilshere of Arsenal is looking to be loaned out.he’s pretty useful from what I’ve seen. What’s the general consensus ?

We were going to spend about 15 million in January but the late tackle by Gordon Brown now means we will have to keep the cash for a lump of pre-cast concrete.

This will play alongside our other equally efficient centre back.

Rob Hollis - great line. Very good.

By all accounts Parker's refound the form that got him into the England team. I’ve always rated him as a player but not sure as a bloke - personally I think his upturn in form is based on being back home in London, playing under Zola instead of the Loony Toons and knowing he’s got to pull his finger out to relight what's left of his career. Good luck to him but leave him where he is — his next move’ll be Spurs, don't you fear! I don't think he’s one for us.

I’m with Mike Elbey — can we please please please sign someone who doesn't look like they're running through quicksand. Young Coleman showed yesterday what a difference a little spring in the step can do.

Good shout on Wilshere he’s not bad and would be keen to make himself a name, if we could loan him. I think the cupboard is bare again, unless we sell of course, so loans only.

Moyes said in yesterdays press what we all knew anyway we wont be signing any players for cash in January, He left out the bit about us being skint and Bullshitter and his cronies had lied about backing the manager last summer.

So we’ll get a loan or 2. Probably only 1 knowing how slow Everton are and poor we are at transfers... We desperatly need a bit of bite in midfield and a pacey winger and a centre half. But we’ve needed our midfield problems solved for 4 years yet we haven’t done it so i dont expect loan deals to solve them.

Parker would be a great addition and just what we need; however, he can only play one position and would cost money so that rules him out.

We will not buy anyone in January. But... say we could, then spend every penny we’ve got on Niall McGinn of Celtic. He is Sean Wright-Phillips with more talent.

We are not buying anyone just sorting out a couple of loan deals going through now as we are skint.
Those where Elstones words at Cammell Lairds on Friday night and people still think we could raise £70M for pipe dream Kirkby, unbeliveable.

Moyes has already said the new player(s) shall be loan deals. A creative midfielder is what we need so would like to see Fernandes back as he is not in the Valencia side. He is a class player and knows the set-up. If we were to buy would love to have Saviola (Benfica) but we can dream! Parker, I rate but cannot see him moving.

Ciaran, we do need wingers or players comfortable with creating width. It works well hence the praise for Coleman’s performance. It shouldn’t be down to a young right back however to provide it. Getting the ball wide and putting crosses in the box is pretty basic stuff.
We do not have one natural wide player at the club!
And before people suggest Bily or Pienaar they are not natural wide players.

Pienaar, Bily & Arteta are all natural footballing central midfielders. Fellaini is very decent at passing. Add to those 4 Neville who Moyes sees as a midfielder, Rodwell, Heitinga & Cahill. That's 8! I really don’t think we need anymore there.

I would however welcome back Fernandes with open arms. We should not have dithered there with the second loan deal and bought him outright.

I wouldnt want to see Fernandes back. He flattered to decieve in his 1st spell producing the very rare moment of brilliance. A lot of the time he created problems for the team and would try to do too much.

The great bit of skill at Arsenal summed him up when he arsed about on the ball when he could have passed it simple, luckily stubbs went flying in and got the ball back then manny went and put on his exhibition, but the whole thing was unecessary.

His 2nd spell at the club was truly awful, he was just a liability especially the Man City game which was embarrising were he seemed to fein injury because he was having a mare of a game.

I can see Paul Scholes coming here for a nominal fee or as a part of the Rodwell deal.

Moyes had said there is no money to spend therefore except for loanees he will have to sell to spend and one of our biggest assets is Rodwell.

More of a worry is that Pienaar hasnt signed a new contract yet and has only eighteen months to run. Will Moyes cash in.

Personally I would like to see Adam Johnson here from Boro but you know as well as I do we will end up with Hutton from Spurs.

Can’t believe we’re heading towards the disappointment window already...

...but I’d absolutely take Scott Parker. One of top mids in the country and the type of player that would transform us immeasurably. He’s the midfielder we’ve needed for a very long time.

Lets face it, we have good players in just about every other position; they’re just injured. In our financial position I don’t see Moyes buying players for competition for places (ie a left back) when there is still a gaping hole in our midfield.

STOP! STOP RIGHT NOW!

Stop getting your hopes up. Stop thinking that the club is going to impress in a January transfer market. Stop thinking that Moyes wont dither on every target he has on his ’list’. Stop thinking that even if we talk to a potential signing, that he will sign. STOP.

We couldn’t sign karl naughton - a championship player, in the summer. He can’t even get on the bench at spurs.

No doubt we’ll get linked with alan Smith, Alan Hutton, Joey Barton, Steven Taylor and my all time favourite...Jason Koumas.

Then, if we are tremendously lucky, we’ll sign the ghanian version of Tony Hibbert for a half eaten apple and a box of roses, delivered one at a time provided that he plays 38 games in his first season.

I’m no mystic meg...but I can predict one thing for January...Everton will sign NO ONE. NOT ONE PLAYER.

We can’t afford the transfer fees, the player amortisations (i love that one!), agent fees or wages.

Stop getting your hopes up, stop believing the impossible because you’ll be left in a state of despair and disappointment.

A state which clearly, having read back my post... I’m already in...

No..I’m at the acceptance level... accepting that fact that we are laughing stock in the Premier League — getting out bid by the likes of Sunderland.

For all it’s worth, aside from what Elstone said about we won't be signing anyone this January, Graham Sharp answered, when asked about Pienaar, that he won't be signing a new contract either.

I truly hate the transfer window, all this hope which only ends in bitter disappointment.

Can't believe I am reading things like, ’cheeky bid’ names of has-been players, and my new favourite — "Let's go for him as he isn’t getting a game at STOKE"!! (Sorry Jon West)

I heard, from my mates sisters hairdresser, that we are selling Pienaar and Rodwell for £100m and buying Joey Barton, Robbie Savage, Moutinho, Naughton, Klodrup, Garcia, Defour, Forlan!?, Riquelme and Beckham. Failing that, we’ll sign Beattie, Tuncay, Warnock, McCarthy, Finnan and Scholes...

...or we wont sign anyone...

If we had money then I would be delighted to see Wayne Routledge come to us, he was sensational at Crystal Palace and - although he had a few years in the wilderness at Spurs similar to what Kyle Naughton has to look forward to - he’s back doing the business again. Adam Johnson’s is class and contract is almost up so hopefully would be cheap(er) than should be, and - I may get killed for suggesting an ex-Darksider - Paul Anderson of Forest is looking a revelation this season.

Of course we have no money so none of these will happen!
