Wilshere

Comments (21)

Word is that Wenger is looking to loan out Jack Wilshere for half the season. Surely this is a no-brainer for us. Three reasons why:

a) As a young player his wages would likely be small so represent little financial risk. Unless Wenger is asking for a fee, but I believe that is usually reserved for players likely to complete a permanent move.

b) We are obviously short of players. Especially players who can create. Bily looked exhausted on Saturday and Wilshere could provide cover for him and Pienaar. If he's as good as people make out, great. If he's not, little lost.

c) If he ever doesn't quite make the grade at Arsenal or gets bored of waiting in the wings, it might give us a jump on the competition to get him. Though we probably won't be able to afford him!

Would be great to see a few players come in January. My personal favourite would be Adam Johnson. Pace, penetration, creativity and goals. Yours for £5M according to NOTW. Suggest Bill has a garage sale and sees what he can raise...

Wenger will not loan Wilshere to a rival in his division - arguably, a positional rival.

It is infinitely more likely he’ll end up at a large Championship side, like Boro, Newcastle or WBA.

Lee, Everton are not positional rivals to Arsenal we are a mid-table club at the moment nothing more.

Moyes won't go for him anyway, he isn't a versatile defender

This could be an Interesting One!! - Jack has just moved in to my village with his Mum & Dad (I have seen his Dad walking the family pug).

A friend of mine actually grew up with Jack's Dad and it has been said in the past that there is a family link with Everton on his Mum's side.
It would be a good move as the Lad has got real talent, but somehow I can’t see it happening as the family are very close — I would think that if he goes anywhere it will be to a club like Watford. Mind you both my son and I might just tap him up if we see him...

Apparently Wenger has stated that he wants Wilshere to be playing in the PL and not the Championship. We are currently not positional rivals to Arsenal and perhaps Moyes has finally realised we need more creative players in the squad to cover for injuries.

He would be an excellent signing.

Balls to Jack Wilshire.

1. We shouldn’t waste time maturing their young players.

2. Jack Rodwell is better then Jack Wilshire anyway.

Not much point in that unless we get a buy option. We’ve given up too much ground in the league already to achieve a decent position and Wilshere’s not good enough to make the difference in winning a trophy!

Better off thinking long term if we make any signings in January.

Personally I think loan signings between clubs in the same league should be banned...

From an Everton viewpoint, I dislike the idea of getting a player that we will not have an option on... It puts us in a false position... and neither do I like the idea of being a development playschool for better teams. Talk about demeaning.

Everton is now a feeder to Arsenal? I dislike and disagree with the idea of giving playing time to another Premier League club’s player if we do not or cannot buy him.

’Feeder club’ is a bit strong. I take the point but let's not cut off our nose to spite the face. No room for snobbery with our injuries.

The fact is that particularly with Arteta unlikely to be fully functioning this season we have a lot of pressure on Peanut and (an already exhausted looking) Bily as our only creative outlets. Wilshere may be a chance to get a genuinely talented player, with little financial risk, to cover when needed.

Bollox to the idea of Moyes developing Wilshire so Arsenal get a better player in the long run.

Let Wishire make his mistakes at Arsenal. Let Wenger develop his own players.

Let Moyes develop Everton youngsters like Wallace, Baxter or Akpan.

Peter, word coming out of Finch Farm is that Moyes sees Wiltshire as right back. So there is still hope.

I think it’s a good shout... might help us with cover at the end of the season. But I think he’ll probably move to us to a less established Prem club... he wouldn’t be guaranteed first team football with us, where he would with teams like Hull and Portsmouth.

I think Moyes will pull something out of the bag, and loan a continental midfielder that we have never heard of... like Arteta, Pienaar and Fernandes, as well as hopefully Donovan.

Moyes is often quite good at January.

Wenger only loans players to clubs that like to play football as he sees no benefit in his young players learning bad habits... so that rules us out.

I'm glad actually because, as others have pointed out, it sends the wrong message to other clubs. Have some self-respect.

I’d be surprised if Wenger allowed it. But if he did, why not? Not sure what "positional rival means". Arsenal going for the league and we’re aspiring to medocrity. Someone been at the glue again.

The idea that we should not loan good players from better clubs to improve our own position, particularly given our uniquely difficult circumstances this season, is utter nonsense.

We did it with Fernandes. What if Iniesta, or Alonso, or Moutinho got out of favour and was interested in coming to us for a while. What kind of idiot spites himself on the basis that it would demean EFC? What rot. Be relegated or stay up and be demeaned? Tough one that.

As of right now, Wilshere is not better than any of our starting midfielders. He would offer us nothing too different either. If we are going to get a loan deal, I’d rather get a pacey wide man or a strong defensive midfielder. As for Adam Johnson he’d be an ideal signing; however, he costs money and we have not got any again.

We should only loan experienced players who could step right in to do a job in our first team squad. The only young players loaned in should be those with an option to buy at a fixed fee. Wilshere is neither and we should not takes this option — if the option exists... which I doubt.

I think there are much better possibilities about in doing deals with those clubs with oversized squads containing players who are not getting a game currently but need to be playing to have a chance at Word Cup places. Inter Milan have several ’game changing players’ like Queresma and Mancini who may be worth a look. Some of the Spanish clubs are in financial trouble and maybe willing to loan with a buy option to cut current wage bills.

Ciaran is right, I think loaning players between clubs in the same division should be banned. It raises all kinds of questions and ethics that are just wrong.

A possible solution would be that no loan should be allowed to go through without a fixed fee and option to buy. Only between clubs in the same division obviously.

No chance Wenger would loan us a promising, skilfull, star of the future, for Moyes to turn into a defensive utility player.

We have young guys too who are just as good if not better than Wilshere. Rodwell, Coleman, Gosling, Duffy, etc. Why would we develop a player for Arsenal when we can develop our own talent? Regardless of how much potential he has, he isn’t going to be a game changer this season so we really wouldn’t benefit from it at all. We wouldn’t get much, we wouldn’t lose much so quite frankly, I’m indifferent to it. I’d just be a little confused.

I agree with Dick Anderson, why should we develop Arsenal youngers when we’ve got the likes of Baxter chomping at the bit to get into our first team!!!

Surely its better for us as a club to have a bit more faith in our kids than become a feeder club for the ’sky four’?

Is playing Baxter more of a risk than taking Wilshere?
