Come On, You Kids!!!

Comments (90)

Should be at least interesting to see how they play tonight, and whether it's just a training/reserves runabout or if there is some fire and desire shown.

Who's on the bench? Let's make this the Matchday Mailbag thread; I'm closing off the other BATE related threads that are currently open...

definately really looking forward to the game tonight on channel 5, we are really relaint on the kids we bring through as we don’t have the same spending power of the other clubs.

I really hope Baxter is played in the middle i find it hard to beleive he is a winger as he doesn’t have the pace but he could be an excellnet play maker in the middle with his control and skill. Also most similar to a riquleme or a aimar, although i appreciate it is very ealry doors, but Moyes please play him in his best position!

This forshaw seems to be getting alot of positive press on the other links so he should be interesting plus it will be good to see agard stretch his legs up front.

Hopefully we will get off to a good start and non concede in the frist 25 minutes which will breed confidence through the team. I am sure some of the kids will really try and impress so hopefully we will get a rooney esque performnace like when he came on against areseanl and scroed that goal from one of the kids tonight!!!!!

roll on the next generation!

I can’t wait to see how the kids get on tonight. Unfortunately, as usual, I am unable to go to the match, and will probably suffer at the hands of the Digital Police here in the office.
I sincerely hope that each one of those boys put in his best effort and gets his reward.
One thing though - has the club done anything regarding free entry to the match for children? I think that would have been a great gesture if they haven’t already done so...

I’ll be watching, would love to think there’s some real talent coming through. As a slight aside, as he obviously can’t play tonight, John Ruddy is also getting some serious praise up in Scotland. I knew nothing at all about Bidwell and Forshaw until reading the official site. I remember us signing Garbutt and what an ’exciting’ prospect he was meant to be at left back- does this selection mean Bidwell’s considered to be ahead of him? (He’s only 2 months older).

Would like to see Agard and Baxter playing with the freedom to be cheeky and creative tonight as well.

Little festive joke for you all: I bumped into a man crying uncontrollably in in Liverpool City Centre yesterday. All he could go on about was how he hates this time of year, having to dress in a ridiculous red outfit and embarrassing himself infront of thousands of people. I said, "Look Mr Gerrard, you chose to play for Liverpool!"

From the BBC live text:

goodisondub on 606 "I’m concerned the Everton game won’t be over before the team’s bed time. Surely they should have kicked off at six?"

Hear, hear, goodisondub. A 2005 GMT kick-off time is not ideal on a school night.

good first half there for the kids.
I thought baxter was the pick playing centrally he looked the most creative and comfortable on the ball, we should try and get the ball to him more. Agard looks quick, with a little more composure he could have done better with a shot. Forshaw looks like he has potenial a couple of good crosses. Duffy composed at the back and colman looks classs. Worried Bidwell might be the new hibbert at left back but he is only 16 so i’ll give him a chance yet :-) Reminds me a bit of Julian Dicks the west ham player not my mate Julian’s dick that is.

Yak is showing the control of a rapist tonight. Akpan is showing the touch of a Yakubu. My interpretation of Osman’s game so far = he’s short of match fitness. A Marshian interpretation = he’s a crock of shit. Leave it at that.

Totally agree James. He was never the most ’energetic’ of players, but he had surprising balance, poise and a burst of pace to turn a man or get on the end of a chance. Doesn’t look to have it anymore. I’m keeping my fingers crossed as I don’t want to write him off to early.

I have to wonder about our medics though. I distinctly remember that Yak had been complaining of a sore heel not long before his achilies gave out. Then we have the more recent incidents with Yobo and Distin’s hamstring problems. Seemingly we push players and end up paying the price in the mid-long term.

Exactly Andy he seems to have lost those abilities completely. Totally toothless at present and as i said earlier he was a liability in a team of youth and reserve players. Very worrying. Lets just hope he recaptures a little of his former self.

He always was and always will be a one/two touch striker..

For some reasn he seems to think he can play football since he came back...especially from out wide..
