I wish him all the best.

He was a good servant... (well, he did put it some good games for us)

ps: Why are there so many football players finding peace with Islam? Anelka.. and recently Henry....

Dear James,
To answer your (fair) question when I really have no idea! It may be something to do with being a black guy in what is still predominantly in sport white man’s world. Cassius Clay famously did the same and Malcolm X's finger up at the whities who tended to be Christians. It’s a way to assert an identity or find one in a very high pressure hypermaterialistic confusing world.

The ’answers’ to life’s quandaries are all ’writtten" and you are all kitted out for this world and the next, whereas most other religions these days and philosophies give you room to think for yourself and question etc.

But in the end you have to ask Allah or maybe not! Anyway, all the best to Abel I quite liked the guy when he wore the sacred blue!

Merry Christmas to you and all.

Season of good will or what? Shite player just reminded me of Cameo (he of the plastic cod piece) who couldn’t wait to switch to the dark side, they thought he was shite too and got shut. Maybe he converted as it’s cheaper than the drugs he got banned for?

Cynical over similar sudden very popular miraculous conversions very common in the prison populous. When the likes of Cassius Clay and Cat Stevens converted it was a different world and they had very different reasons.

Abel Xavier has quit football....

a) No club wanted him?
b) The drugs were more appealing?
c) Because he must be almost 40!!!!!

My memory of Xavier is that he was the only player whom I can remember, that went to the dark side without much of a murmur from any blue.

His transfer was met with apathy as will his retirement.

He was part of a funny interview when Gazza was calling "Abel, Abel don’t go" through the bog window.

He had a great European Cup but then was banned for a while and was shite when he went to Boro.

As Liam said there wasn’t too many disgrunted Blues when we heard the news he was going to the Dark side, only to score on his debut....doh!

Thought he had retired years ago! Crap player, one of the worst in recent years, I would say actually.

Trust the Daily Mail to run a story on it. Gutterpress.

You may find some of his reasons for seeking the "peace" of Islam here: thereligionofpeace.com

Brian Hill, that’s a creepy, weird website.

Alex, the site simply logs the daily, generally unreported actions of the followers of the "religion of peace". It is not the site that is weird and creepy. What is truly weird and creepy is the simple fact that every act of Islamic murder is blamed on everything except Islam itself. Obviously this is not the place for this debate and I apologise to the mediator for my submission but the door was opened by the acceptance of the original contribution.

Brian Hill, Islamic Murder, what is that suposed to mean? One look at that website and you can tell its an anti-islamic website, aimed at demonising this particular religion. If you want the truth, go look for it yourself, don't just read and believe every crap that's out there. I could easily go and set up a website aimed at ridiculing whatever I want. Bloody ignorance!!!

Just one more thing Brian, in most cases, racism stems from ignorance and intolerance, its possible you knew that already!

Brian, I have many dislikes about Islam: opression of women, no freedom of speech, inhumane punishments etc. etc. In fact I dislike most religions, but websites like that are extreme, in bad taste, encourage hatred and distort the truth as much as the suicide bombers distort Islam. It's like saying Kopites are all murderers, Irish are all terrorists, Priests are all paedophiles etc. This also happens to be an Everton website. Merry Christmas (except those murdering scumbag muslims, of course).

El-ray, that is a pitifully inadequate response. Please read again my original submission and identify any hint of racism contained therein.

Well any one with who has two brain cells to to rub togther can see there is an undertone of prejudism, not to mention the generalisation of ’all’ the followers of this religion i.e. your words "generally unreported actions of the followers of the "religion of peace". It seems you are particularly fond of this website. You mention ’unreported action’ well do you know this action took place? where you there? after all it is unreporeted!!! Nowadays every action of Muslims is reported in the media, its funny how this website claims to have news that isnt in the main stream media, unless of course its pure made up bullshit! its a racist website with one purpose in mind and guess what?, you dont have to be a genius to figure it out! There are different forms of racism, one of them is called ’unconcious racism’, go and read about it mate.

I dont blame you Brian, these sort of websites were tailored for unsuspecting people with media-orientated minds, where they can make up any story they want, and simply put "unreported" in front of it, therefore, making moderators of such sites immune from from prosecution. This is a football website, and I apologies to to fellow toffees for straying from the subject.

El-ray, I’m sure you agree this has become very boring, but you still haven’t provided any evidence, even an opinion, as to why you consider me a racist. Unless you believe that Islam is only available to people whose skin has a certain melanin content? If you cannot give a sensible, coherent, response I shall give up on this thread.
