Just had my daily fix reading the site. In the spirit of Christmas may I take the opportunity to thank Micheal, Lyndon and Colm for running the site throughout the year. Whether we all agree with eachother or not, one thing is certain, we would do neither without your efforts.
Thanks guys and all the best for 2010

All the best to all blues from all over the World. I’ll be at the Stadium of Light tomorrow cheering on the blues — to anyone coming up the North East by car, leave with plenty of time to spare (very icy conditions).
And good luck to the men in blue for the second half of the season too!
A recurring theme I recall from Ed...
He makes some valid points, then some that are debatable, and probably, like most contributors on here, his own opinion.
I think we are where we are for a number of reasons, but since football was invented in 1992:
- Coverage in the printed media has gone crazy, in line with perceived interest in the game. Have to sell papers...
- The blanket TV coverage in UK needs no explanation, but outside the UK it's worse (or better, depending on your point of view) - some places show pretty much every game live. For some of us, the TV-season ticket is already here.
- The internet has spawned a plethora of fan sites — some with different MOs. ToffeeWeb is more user-driven compared to, say, WSAG (which I like) but which is largely written by the editor, and a couple of contributors.
- Internet also now allows watching streams of games, to differing degrees of quality.
- This has created an opportunity where exiled fans, and those who've never even been to the UK, let alone Goodison, can watch their beloved Blues - and debate them on the many fora available.
- We live in a world where people (wrongly in my view) expect to be able to air grievances to the man at the top. Myself and a couple of partners run event, music & media companies — can you imagine if every person who had a gripe about the cost of a ticket, or the queue for a beer, or bogs, emailed the MD / CEO each time? Having previously worked in a government entity, and tasked with doing a specific technical job, I spent so much time having to read / draft responses to correspondence from customers, or shareholders, the only time I could get my "work" done, was in the evenings or at weekends. I left.
I think a cursory look around other websites, including those of other clubs, would suggest that the quality of layout, and content, is variable to say the least.
The other thing the Internet has done, is give a voice to the Blogger. Again, some are a good read, occasionally.
