Team against Carlisle

Comments (11)

  • Vaughan and Donovan up front
  • And then a couple of experienced ones on the bench and the rest of the kids.
  • Carlisle have also gone 5 games unbeaten - including a 0-0 at Tranmere yesterday. However, 3 away defeats in 11 means it could be more difficult than we think. After Carlisle, 3 more wins and we are back at Wembley...

    No, no, no.

Your post contradicts itself, you say they could be more difficult than we think but you want to complacently play the kids instead of a full strength team. We don’t want an away replay.

Donovan’s not available (according to the programme against Burnley) and the Yak needs games as he’s clearly not match fit.

Pick our strongest team and try to win the FA cup, for me, this would include Coleman having his go at right back, something that should have happened against Burnley. I would also like to see Vaughan up front instead of Cahill, although I suspect he’s not considered fit enough to start, so I’d ask for a longer subs appearance.

Ditto. Play the strongest team. With Coleman in it!

Gents, I’m a touch confused about Colemanmania and I wonder if you could put me straight on something; if you was a football manager (not of the SEGA variety) and you had lost your 3 CB’s and hadn’t been able to field the same back 4 two games running, why would you make an unenforced chage at RB, or don’t you think stabilty is important in a team?

I wouldn’t say I’m a victim of ’Colemanmania’ and I’m under no illusions that he’s the next Cafu or anything, but he’s shown enough to be worth a go, he definitely likes to get forward, and home games against Burnley and Carlisle were/are an excellent opportunity to give him that chance and give the team another attacking dimension that, love him or loathe him, Hibbert simply doesn’t provide.

Donovan won't be playing in the cup game... So says Moyes in the Burnley program.

Don’t you remember Oldham from a few years ago (ironically Vaughan started that day!)?

One or two players is ok, such as Coleman and Vaughan deserve a start, otherwise play the strongest team and sub for youngsters if cruising.

Make no mistake some players will be rested, maybe not as much as the Bate game but certainly a fitness outing again for some players. The Cup is important but not as much as the Prem where we still need to collect points and with the Arsenal game coming up we need as strong a squad as possible. It is becoming commonplace for teams to field weakened sides, particularly against lower league teams. Included will be Vaughan, Osman, Neville and Yaks who are all fighting for match fitness and places, but one would think that Yaks would be fit enough by now?

Phil, with our shocking record against lower league sides over the last 15 years, the last thing we should be doing is taking them lightly and playing a weakened team.

Did Moyes do it against Macclesfield a year ago? No.

Play a strong side and bring our main players off if were comfortably ahead after 60 minutes ish.

Get a run of wins going... play the first team with the returning injured.

We need to play our strongest team cos winning a cup is our only chance of qualifying for Europe this season as we have absolutely no chance of finishing high enough in the league to get a European place.
