Thanks, Mike. Let's make this the Matchday Thread.... COYB!!!
Anybody got a link for the match?
Personally would have liked to have seen Coleman given a start but I think I might be waiting awhile!
That side picks itself really.
Our bench is horrific! Arguably, only Coleman would get into Carlisle’s side!
Team as expected, but I'm disappointed to not see Coleman get a start. We are at home and I think an attack-minded right back would have been far more suited than Hibbert.
I remain disappointed to see Cahill starting. With Pienaar, Felli and Neville, surely there as license to see Baxter or Agard play. Cahill has been out of form all season, what does he need to do to get dropped?
Typical Moyes selection, I expect us to win 3-0, but I only expect the subs to be used once it's 2-0 and 70-80 mins on the clock.
Let's all pray for a James Vaughan goal and him to finish the game healthier than he started it for once.
I’m glad the strongest possible team has been put out, seeing a team that has left one or two players out really gives the other team an extra boost at any level. I hate the 3rd round!
Fran, sort of disagree with you about Cahill. Yes, he’s been out of form, but a home tie against weaker opposition has to be seen as a chance to get him into some kind of form again.
Not a link about yet, nowt on iraqgoals, atdhe or myp2p. None of the overseas channels seem to care about the Cup!
It’s on France4, but I can’t find a link to that channel!?

go on vaughan my son 2 in last 2. Please stay fit
Is this the start of the Vaughan Renaissance? Short on strikers he may actually get his first run in the first team.
The odds are still stacked against him but lets hope
GET IN!
I SOOOOOOOOOOOO wish I watching this, I have been waiting to see Vaughan play in a decent run out for ages.. TYPICAL
Just radio by the looks of it
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/fa_cup/8435347.stm
2 goals in about 20 mins of football for Vaughany!!!
Iraqi, Magyar links not on for this match - drat
Fran, is that the next in the series after The Vaughan Ultimatum / Supremacy / Identity?
I’d love to see him have a good, injury-free run. He’s an exciting player.
Sorry, my fault, my old man always told me never to listen to Everton on the radio. COYB
I hate the 3rd round of the cup. It pisses me off. My stomachs bad enough cos of all the shite i’ve put in it over Christmas. I don’t need this.
just got the beeb up to find it 1-1, oh well here we go again!
Mark my words, if we lose this, it’s the end of Moyes. And justly so.

Keep calm Craig - Carlisle have nothing to lose they were always going to come and have a go, yes we should beat a league 1 team and we will. How long have you supported the blues? Was it ever going to be straight forward?
Mind you if they got the next goal....
I stand by what I say! "If" we lose this, Moyes should be sacked. Terrible league campaign thus far, hammerings in Europe against the only decent opposition we’ve met, and an exit from the domestic cup at the first hurdle - combined with the fact this is completely his own team. I’m not looking for a reaction as such, I’m just stating what I think - a loss here would cause major discontent.
I think we’ll go on to win it 3-1 though.
I just hate loving Everton!!!!!! why cant it be a simple game instead of the Everton-play-poo-struggle-and-snatch-a-late-win way?????
So then folks where are we all from? Im a cambs lad now living in chatteris near huntingdon/Peterboro’
I am from Wigan living near Brighton now.
Lee, I thought your words said. "It’s the end of Moyes" not SHOULD be.
Personally even if we lose today, I don’t think he’s going anywhere.
"Carlisle come forward again". I’m sick of hearing that.
Vancouver, Canada - up at 7am to read match thread
ex ESCLA member and was a season ticket holder til this season when i lost me job could manage the cost of the ticket just but not geting there and back
I’m watching my hometown team Barrow doing OK at Sunderland, one-nil down but having more possession. It’s a better feed than any I’ve ever seen of Everton!
That BBC link can’t be played here in the U.S. Anyone have any commentary links playable here?
Cheers
Originally the Wirral............now Victoria Canada.............
Hi Joseph you going to any of the winter olympics?
Canada? You must be mental.
Pienaar, Bilyaletinov and Neville fail to complete a nice looking build up as Neville doesn’t control. Carlisle break, Fellaini clumsily brings down Kavanagh.
Brisbane, Australia. It’s 1:43am, all I’m doing is reading your comments on the game, so keep them coming!

Moyes will never be sacked... never. Shame really
Born in Orrell, now just outside Vancouver, BC, in Langley. This is the first match in ages i’ve had to follow by text.
Originally Bootle, now Cape Town. How bad is this game that we are doing this?!!
Unless they add a footy component to Figure Skating I think I’ll give it a miss (too busy following EFC’s cup run?)
Fellaini is on his last warning after that Kavanagh foul. Half time approaching. Free-kick Everton after a foul on Vaughan, just inside Carlisle half. Fellaini nods down for Cahill on the edge of the box, who can’t turn quickly enough and Carlisle clear.
diouf off for blackburn, some things never change, big Sam will be spitting mad!!!!
Fellaini has been booked and has had a ’last chance’ talk from the ref. Do you replace him, or risk keeping him on?
I’m in the states, listeninig to it on the radio via the Everton TV webiste.
Simon
I’m in Rougham, just outside of Swaffham.
35 years in Vancouver and only twice have I seen someone sporting an EFC jersey
New York, got Soccer Saturday online, following these comments and watching boro on fox
Two minutes of added time. Pericard earns a throw in deep inside Everton territory. Keogh crosses, blocked by Fellaini amidst screams of handball. Ball eventually cleared but Carlisle ending the stronger. Cahill with a late challenge, and is warned.
I’m from eccles, salford - now living and working in Ukraine, am i crazy? You might think so, a salford boy with everton in his blood! My friends at school convinced me in 1978 that everton rocked, i’ve never disagreed with this opinion
Wirral, now in Hampshire. Sounds like we are holding on a bit....
Canny Farm.......... now in sunny Taiwan
Joseph..............Come to Victoria there’s a few round here..........
Harte finds Keogh with a pinpoint cross - desperate defending gets the danger away courtesy of Baines. Ball goes out for a goal-kick, and the referee blows for half time.
Everton 1 - 1 Carlisle - a chorus of boos from the Everton fans.
Thanks for the comms guys!
Since we are turning this into a tourismweb, Come to sunny Singapore.
Why no Donovan today? I really thought he’d at least be on the bench.
@ Joseph: in Vancouver since ’87 - seen two, maybe three EFC jerseys.
I’m in Perth, Western Australia. 11:49 pm over here and struggling after a busy New Year period - not as bad though as our eastern counterparts who are three hours ahead!
Right then now we got a bit of banter going and john has giving his reason for following the mighty blues i think i got one of the daftest reasons for supporting the blues
Dublin Ireland and im hiding my Everton jersey if we dont win this!!
Rob I’m in Melbourne, Victoria. It’s 2.50am and I’m wide awake reading play by plays. New Years has absolutely screwed my body clock.
James Vaughan made my nigh/morning and an Everton win would top it off.
yeah, Donovan was supposed to join today, wasn’t he?
Hi Sean - sorry to say but the 3 you saw were my ’66FA Cup replica, my ’86 jersey, and my ’08 kit/
donovan doesnt arrive until tomorrow i think, getting his last surf in today I bet
correction - apparently arrived this morning, watching from the stands.......would have been a bit early to throw him in and a bit unfair on the other boys i think
Davin - Happy New Year to you and Christine - think we’ll be watching the blues again in the US this summer?
Hopefully, by then, we will have improved!
1974 Ed Stewpot Stewart on the radio 1 sat. morning show always going on about the mighty blues, so when someone asks who u support? as a 4 year old i say EVERTON even though i live in the middle of Cambridgeshire!!!!
I’m from Southport but been with the sheep in Cornwall (Nr. Bodmin) since ’85

Donovan only arrived today so not chance of playing.
This game is all about the next goal - if it is us then we go on and win, no problem but if they score they will defend like mentalist and then who knows as we have nobody to change things from the bench!
Carson City, Nevada. Started following Everton while working in Warrington from 2000 -2002. Went to a few games with one of my co-workers and I’ve been a fan ever since. First time in a long time that I’ve not been able to get an internet video feed for a game.
think i could write a book sometimes on the daft things ive done over the years watching Everton
Donovan joins today, but not registered in time for this game, as the transfer window only opened today!
No Joseph, I was looking in the mirror when I saw those three shirts. No shit. Plus, an ’87 title shirt that I can just about squeeze into.
In Thailand, can’t watch, but like others said, all comments are appreciated as I huddle over toffeeweb. Hopefully our fitness and class will tell in the last 20 mins... hopefully... really don’t need a replay!
Hi Gerry! Thanks, Happy New Year to You as well! Hope to see them in the States again this summer. Bit of a tradition now. We also made it over to Lisbon in Oct and despite the result, was a brilliant trip. Let’s hope for a fired up 2nd half to this one.
Leyton - East London.
Have a season ticket, but can’t afford the petrol so my Dad (who lives in West Derby) goes.
Last game I went to was West Ham away.

ferking hell just heard that deluded fat spanish waiter jibbering on about how the shite are not really a 2 player team!!!! Wanker! Come on Reading!
Sean - good one. I’m grooming my 5 yr old daughter for the ’86 jersey (horrible kit...white rectabgular bib on the front)
Sean and Joseph...you realize there is an Everton Pub in Dunbar Vanouver? I’ve been to Vancouver like 10 times in 2010 and met like 10 Evertonians or so...
The psychology instructor had just finished a lecture on mental health and had proceeded to give an oral quiz to the class.
Speaking specifically about manic depression, the instructor asked, "How would you diagnose a patient who walks back and forth screaming at the top of his lungs one minute, then sits in a chair weeping uncontrollably the next?"
A young man in the rear of the room raised his hand and said, "An Everton Fan?"
Joseph, I was at Goodison for the first time in twenty-one years last spring and I got a ’66 shirt for half price at the about-to-be-closed mega store. The night before I came back someone gave me an ’86 replica shirt , telling me that he’d never seen us lose in it. I watched the Cup Final at Abruzzo on Commercial Drive and couldn’t decide which shirt to wear. I chose the ’86, obviously a mistake.
Glad to see fellow Canadians on Toffeeweb, I’m representing Ottawa, Canada.
60% possession and 4 attempts on target, not sure they were particularly threatening though.
Sounds a bit like the Burnley game, if we keep hold of the ball and keep pressing, then all we need is for on of them to get sent off and we’re sorted.
@ Matthew. Are you talking about the pub on Dunbar St in the West End, The Dover Arms? I
Second half underway, no changes.

Matthew - is it the Cheshire Cheee Inn?
Sean...Chesire Cheese...the owner, a really sound chap, is an Evertonian and opens for the bigger games. There were 10 of us for the season opener (the 1-6 thrashing).
1ST trip to goodison, 1986, we won the league at Norwich and the following week i travelled up on the Luton town bus with my then girlfriends lil’ sister who was a mad blue( cos of inch’s legs!) i was 16 she was 11 told me dad i was going shopping for the day with the girlfriend to cambridge. Got back to Luton at 9 pm and had to phone him to come pick us up cos we missed the last bus.... He wasn’t very happy about it!!!
Matthew - thanks for the info I’ll have to go and watch a match (every time I’m there they seem to be all Crystal Palace supporters!!!)
From Maghull to Sweden.
Try this:-

Some annoying survey to fill in but might work.
Joseph, the owner (Alan I think is his name) is a top bloke an lifelong Toffee. Give them a goal and see when they show a game again.
Boring Boring Boring. Getting battered off the mighty Carlisle.
Thanks, Simon. Never heard of the Cheshire Cheese. Mind you, i’m not downtown alot. I googled it and i’ll check it out one of these days.

Preston are winning 5-0 against Colchester.
Perhaps a good sacking of a clueless, uninspiring manager works every now again!
Thanks Matthew - I’ll have to give them a ring
Bily is a soft touch. Needs to grow a pair of bollocks.
Simon it was Earls Court.
I might add that I am married with kids.
Why do they insist on Baines taking all the free-kicks and corners? Why did we spend £10 million on a fuckin winger if he can’t cross the fuckin ball?
Cahill had one cleared off the line.
Jamie: Because he ain’t a winger? With regards to Baines, agree. Someone else should be taking the corner and free kicks.
Agree Baines is a top player but his crossing is shite 3 out of 10 max. Bily is massive as well, went to the Sunderland game on Boxing Day and was shocked at his stature, second tallest in the team behind the big Belgian.

Jamie, Bily is not a winger - never played there for any club or Russia. He is a central midfielder who can play in the hole as a second striker. I have no idea why Moyes is trying to turn him into a winger??
When Bily first joined, he took many of the corners and they were great curving deliveries. Now baines rockets them in often hit players before getting into the box...
Brian did you travel with ESCLA? about 15 years ago??
got a 7 game accumulator on, they are all winning except.........Everton, typical. broke the golden rule - NEVER BET ON EVERTON!
As it stands we’d be the only upset of the day. Come on lads, we neither need the embaressment and burden of an extra game with our small squad. Score another one Vaughny. COYB!
C’mon Everton FFS!!! This is shit!
Thank you Wilson and Christian. I thought he was a winger. When he first came he was whipping them in for fun. I’m sure he could put a half decent ball in. Why don’t we ever mix it up. God, i’m bored silly. Bored bored bored.

You can understand why he wouldn’t, Hibbert’s defensive tenacity and Coleman’s struggle against Benfica, this is why it was such a good chance to play Coleman against Burnley and Carlisle, a mark against Moyes I’d say.
