Why no Clattenburg?
Comments (25)
Graham Poll has come out and said Premier League needs more 'top flight' referees and that it's 'not healthy to referee a team 7 or 8 times a season'.
To my recollection we haven't had Mr Clattenburg officiate since that infamous game. By the law of averages we should have had him again by now.
Is this an admittance by the PL that he does have a bias towards the other lot? Has he reffed Liverpool since?
I don't even think he was reprimanded for that game, he just sat out the following week's fixtures.
I've got my lozenges ready to berate the tosser.

Not true as Evertonians are better than that but, sorry as I am, it was how I felt at the time!
Maybe the answer is to look abroad. Having watched a lot of Euro football over the last few years, the referees mostly just referee the game properly without all the histrionics you see in the PL. 95% of the time you're not talking about how the Ref has altered the game.
My particular favourite was the one who booked a player for time-wasting when the back 4 were just passing the ball amongst themselves with the ball in play!
And for those who don’t remember I will say one word... COLLINA!
To be fair to Collina, other than his abberation in the Villarreal game, the guy had a near perfect career.
I still maintain he is one of the best refs of the last 10-15 years.

I’m back in work and BORED!
Ed Note: Want some HTML training, Gerry!?!
As for Clattenberg, I never want to see that cheating incompetent waste of oxygen again!
Very little news, other than Bainesy and Nev spouting out the usual pre/post match crap.
I still would love to know what the FA wankers said to Clattenberg after that performance, if anything, and why they refused to take Moysie on any further after his excellent reposte to them.
It is interesting that the normally aloof FA have never given him another game at Goodison.
In 47 years of supporting the Blues, I can remember some incompetent refereeing though I can honestly say it affected both teams. The Clattenberg Derby, however, was the most blatant one-sided refereeing seen. I still cannot believe that there was not some sort of enqiry into it. This man should have been struck off.
On the other side of the coin, can you imagine the match and the atmosphere it would generate if the incompetents ever did give him another game at Goodison!
Also Twattenburk now has a lovely new hair do now, seeing as the little shit was nearly baldy — did the red boys have a whip round for him for his thatch?
"People talk about a penalty they could have had. But last season we lost here 3-0, two of their goals were fouls and nobody complained then. I always feel that in England, players should not be rewarded with penalties for diving. I felt both penalty decisions were right. And I also agree with the yellow card for Kuyt and not a red."
Of course, most of the REAL footballing world thought differently! And as for his comments about diving. Bambi? Say no more.
I still have a strong sense of disgust of that day.....and most other derby matches
The best bet at the time was that DM (apart from having a very good case) spoke to the official and the reply from Clattenburg (which must have been heard by others) would have been very embarassing for the FA should it be made public.
I would hazard that the ref who never knew a father is unlikely to visit GP again while Moyes is still in charge.
HTML????
Give me a break, Ed, I’m coming up for 60 years of age soon - old dogs, new tricks and all that!
Now with your HTML format, it seems like getting to the bottom of the list is the equivalent in speed of Everton "hoofball"!
Did Moysie invent that HTML then?
Hoofball Tactics, Moysie’s Lifesaver
I have no idea. But I did hear that back in ’63 he reffed a 5-a-side on a grassy knoll in Dallas...
Mick, is his rug shrinking in the snow yet?.
