Arsenal vs Everton

Comments (255)

Everton Line up as follows:

Everton: Howard, Neville, Baines, Heitinga, Neill, Osman, Fellaini, Cahill, Pienaar, Donovan, Saha.

Subs: Nash, Bilyaltedinov, Vaughan, Coleman, Duffy, Baxter, Mustafi

Debut for Donavan

Neville dropping rightback and Saha returning to replace Vaughan. Also BIlly dropped to the bench with Osman coming in.

I expect to see Coleman, Bilyaltedinov and Vaughan play some part in the 2nd Half.

Was expecting a good game... not so sure now seeing the line up... this would’ve been the sort of match to get Bily up to scratch.

No doubt Donovan will play off so Saha so that leaves cahill in centre midfield... how often do we see this formation fail... especially if Osman's plays the right wing.

Expecting the worst now...

It seems my fears about the formation did no transpire..

Everybody on the pitch being played in their most effective positions - so good work Davey..

A good debut so far from Donovan on the right...and Osman playing reasonably well in the middle..although still displaying his trademark of losing the ball needlessly..Can’t fault him for the OG though..

Arsebal stepped up a couple of gears after our goal playing some lovely stuff at times...

We’ll do well to hang on to the draw..

half time....

Reaonable display againsty a very talented team...

We need more control in the centre of the park...ossies doing ok but to be honest thats not good enough for such an important position..However as there’s no options he’ll just have to keep ploughing on...

As for Cahill - he’d get the umbrella around the nect from me....he’s doing a lot of running but there’s very little impact from it...Personally i’d put Billy on in that supporting role and see what he can do...because I think that’s where his destiny lies whenever Cahill finally gets the chop..

We need to go for it...because Arsenal lok dangerous and capable of walking it into the net at any stage..

So far, we started very well and hassled a lot. The only problem is the same we have all the time, when we score we stop the tempo and sit back a little bit. This allows the Arse to get back on top and get a lucky deflected goal.
They look dangerous and Louis may well rue the rushed shot with just the goalie to beat. Think we miss rodwell in the middle actually as we look a little lightweight. I am going for 3-1 arse im afraid as much as i would like our boys snatch a win here!!

Agree with Ciarán. I do think this is our Tims best persformance in a while however would like to see what Bily could do in the middle of park, his deft touches a nea passing would aid the attack greatly, however maybe he wont press the Arsenal midfield like Cahill is doing, while not creative he is stopping Arsenals creativity too.
I dont expect any changes until 70 mins or so, we will see Vaughan for Saha and Bily for Donovan. Only injuries will force any other subs.

I stick by my origanl prediction 3-2 to the blue boys

Moyes will keep it like this - pressurising play hopeful of a goal until the 75th minute and depending what the score is at the time :-
if we still are drawing he’ll put Vaughan on for Saha or Cahill to keep up the pressure
If we are behind he’ll put on Vaughan and Billy - for Saha/Cahill & Pinnear in order to gab a late goal.

Brilliant game of football; every player out there today for the Blues can hold his head up. We took the game to the Arsenal, for long periods of the game looked the better footballing side... ’better footballing side than Arsenal’ I never thought I’d write that.

The plus points; bags of possession, looked effective and slick going forward, closed everything down when not in possession, looked like real contenders for a top six spot. I like the look of Donovan, despite him being half ready re fitness

The minus points - loss of concentration at times at the back and no fucking luck re deflections - well, you can’t legislate for that

And, our injury list is diminishing quickly giving Moyes a nice headache re selection.

If, and it is a big ’if’, we play like that from now till the end of the season we’ll sour a few very big reputations... not least in Europe

Fantastic Everton - it’s days like this which make it all worth it.

FFS, what is it with some people? Osman played well today and, er, scored a goal, which I think is significant. And Cahill not only made the second but almost set up another in the second half - looks back to something like what we expect from him. Would the critics still have the knives out if we’d held on or if Vaughany had finished for 3-1 with a few minutes to go?

This XI played well against one of the genuine title challengers, who have been sensational at home this season. Give them some fucking credit for once.

I blame Tony Hibbert....
