Thank you, Royals

So, the 4th round tie v. Birmingham City is on Saturday 23 January KO 3pm after all.

We don't talk about Liverpool on here so I'll just pay a compliment to Reading. They were superb in every department apart from their finishing. A 5-1 scoreline wouldn't have flattered them.

The OS were quick off the mark. Two minutes after the final whistle the Saturday date was confirmed.

Having just watched The Royals do The Reds it confirmed the thoughts which I have had for some time. I compare our squad with our neighbours and wondered how of that lot would make a Merseyside Xl, indeed, Everton Xl.

Then I considered the amount each player cost. We have bought fewer players because of limited funds. We have spent less on the players which we have bought and yet we have the better squad!

I have been critical of Moyes (tactics, substitutions etc) but in the transfer market has anyone outdone him? He has pulled in profits on McFadden, Lescott (albeit unwillingly), amongst others.

So I tip my hat to David Moyes. Credit where it is due. The FSW does not come close to the number of transfer successes of Moyes. In fact, how many successful buys has he made? Not many... especially when one conciders how much he has spent on so many players, ass-trainers, coaches, physios plus reserve set-up.

We can go unbeaten until the end of the season apart from EL. I smell Wembley and 6th place, I genuinly believe that we have the better squad. It has been a while since I could say that!!! Oh yes. Maximum of four of them would I take and that is streatching it a bit.

"The OS were quick off the mark"

Fuck the OS. I don’t go there anymore. FFS they still don’t say anything about the Neill transfer!

Well beaten by a side nearly bottom of the championship, hope it doesn’t cost Rafa his job we need him to stay.

Lawro’s quote on the text commentary on BBC was along the lines of "Rafa will be luckiest man alive to keep his job" and the admittance that, without ladyboy and creasehead, they are a very average side with no leadership or drive. I’d love to see them without those two. The phone-in on the radio was hilarious, the final verdict on blame going to the board and ignoring the 100 players that the FSW has bought, the majority being utter shite.

They are poor, and even Gerrard and Torres are looking well out of form and uninterested. Reading though, played with real spirit and quality on the ball... they went to Anfield and dominated the match — unlucky with that deflected goal before half time.

I just can’t see them climbing back into the top 4, but who (other than us) would you like to see take 4th spot? The wise money has to be on City, but I’d rather Spurs or Villa.

I think very good things are around the corner for us now, and would be surprised if we can’t notch up 30+ points before the end of the season.

Best, and most apposite comment I’ve heard recently is "six years he’s been there and they’ve only got 2 good players"

Friends of Fagan, Nieces of Nessie and Daughters of Dalglish are holding a "Benitez Must Stay" march starting in Williamson Square at 15:00 Saturday...

Oh man, I’m always up for watching Liverpool lose, just didn’t think it would happen so gave Slumdog Millionaire a try at 9pm.

Unfortunately it tailed off towards the end unlike Reading, but probably just as beautiful to watch!

What a fine start to the day!

As for 4th, they’re only 5 points off I think. Their pact with the devil hasn’t run out just yet...

One thing I noticed from both games was the quality of delivery from reading set pieces. If we can bring that back into our game we will start to score a lot more from our set pieces.

Post match comment of the day from the wicked witch of the west Andy Townsend: ’Liverpool are wallowing in a sea of averageness’. Like music to the ears.

Just a thought: one Reading player really took the eye for me, the attacking midfielder, think his name was Jody McNuff, he went on one amazing run from the halfway line.

Watch this space....

I ws gutted about the RS game last night; why didn’t I break the habit of a lifetime and record it because I like to watch a DVD with a happy ending?

While we’re on the subject of the RS, I’d like to thank the FSW for nipping in and buying Riera in front of us, yet another in his long line of shite buys.

No it would be a disaster if he got the sack, they might bring somebody in who knows what they are doing, the longer he stays the better.

Even if they get in a new manager, what can they do with no money to spend until SG moves to Real Madrid? And / or Torres moves on as well.

It’s a shame really as I prefer it when they are also doing well and taking the long term view of developing local talent, building from within and becoming a force to be reckoned with as the so called big Clubs flounder in a sea of unserviceable debt soon to be called in.

Even better news. Gerrard out for two weeks, Big Nose out for a month and Ladyboy out for six weeks!! Looking forward to the Derby like never before now!

We’ll show then who’s a small club, the fucking wanker!

I’m going to miss the FSW and his shite excuses when he’s gone. Even after last night's exit from the FA Cup to a lowly Championship side** he tried blaming the result on bad refereeing. Laughable, absolutely laughable.

What’s it like to lose to a "small club" Rafa UFT.

** PS: I’m not belittling Reading when referring to them as "a lowly championship side". I think they were excellent last night and wish them all the best for the rest of the season (except if they meet us in the cup!).

I didn’t know the result until I got the paper this morning. What a start to the day!

I’ve just watched the goals on YouTube.

Is Stevie GBH claiming that one? Clearly an OG. Justice, however, was done.

So we are halfway through the transfer window and not much has happened, Donovan on loan, Lucas sold and thats it. Moyes wants to bring in some squad players in Jan. Look no furthur than Jobi Mcinuff, who tore the arse out of the redshite. Better not hold our breath as they will probably want more than the packet of polos and some wine gums up front with some everton mints after x number of games that the jokers at Everton will offer!!
