Can anyone explain to me what is with the Official Site?
I can understand them not wanting to announce the sale of Neill too quickly, even with it all over the official news channels like the BBC etc, but what is this 'Neill Shock at Switch' crap..?
FFS! Either Neill wanted to go — in which case it is not a shock — or the club wanted him to go — in which case it is hardly a positive comment to state on the site that Nuill was shocked. Any number of excuses for selling the player against his wishes could have been used "EFC thought that an 18 month contract was something they couldn't offer him at this stage," etc etc.
Now the club appear to be a bunch of mercenary idiots who manage their players badly. Well done, Official Site — no wonder Everton's media presence is bad.

People have suggested using Duffy, Hibbert or Neville but i would rather have an experienced partner for Johnny H. Distin has been woeful since Oct, as has Yobo so we could do with some cover. My only thought is that Moyes has a replacement lined up ASAP
One final thought: Will Neill play on Saturday against Citey, he doesnt become a Galatasaray player till after the fixture. We need him but if he does and gets injured than HE is proper fucked
’Build the better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your door. ’ Our media profile will follow results in the end. Why are there so many exRS pundits in the media? I guess they won more games than we did. And God on the field he was, but have you heard Ratty give expert summary?
EFC do ’media’ very badly. Least of our worries.
Where do you get this from, dear Rupert in Paris? I scan most newspapers over here and overall their coverage of Everton is positive and sympathetic.
Back in May 2009 they went into overdrive with articles that filled us all with pride.

My assessment is that Neill was surprised that Galatasaray made the approach with the terms they’ve obviously offered and he’s making the move "to take care of my family" [read, financially].
Seems like there’s a benefit here for both sides — Everton get a profit of £800k to £1m (depending on who you believe), Neill gets a bumper salary (which he’s always wanted anyway) plus a new challenge.
The only problem, of course, is if he isn’t replaced, for which there are plenty of precedents at Goodison in the January window.
