Loans R Us

Comments (22)

In debt, and it feels like there's no way out?... simply consolidate your transfer wish-list into one easily affordable loan.

It does sum up a lot of our transfer windows! What I was wondering, is if anyone knows the kind of deals we make when loaning a player? I can only guess, but I assume we pay the lions share of the player's wages while he's with us, and in most cases, have agreed a fee at the very start (if we wish to sign him on a perminent contract). I also assume there is some kind of initial 'good will' fee on most loans, and of course a few squid thrown at the odd agent.

Can anyone clarify what goes on financially with regard to loaning players?

So Jo & Neil have gone and with only Donovan coming the other way so far, should we expect any new players or will it be the club wheeling out the much used line that players coming back from injury will be like new signings?

The fans support can act like a extra player. thus a new signing.

To loan a player, Everton usually will have to pay a loan fee, perhaps £500k to £2m for a player for a whole season. Thereafter, we will have to pay at least a significant portion of the players wages.

Rumour has it, and it is somewhat confirmed by our requests to City, that Jo was signed without a loan fee or payment of any wages. We had to ask City to impose the recent fine against him. It shows Moyes’s disdain for the player that he let a "free" wageless player leave before the contract was up. I imagine that the reason Jo was "free" was that he was in someway linked to the "£22m" we "received" for Lescott. I wonder how much we actually did get for that transfer.

I can’t see any significant signings, but expect we’ll at least get cover for LB.

Thanks Steve, I guess it can vary, depending on whether the deal is considered more beneficial to the lender or borrower.

Looking forward to the Brum game tomorrow... it seems the new found confidence from the players is rubbing of on us fans.

Pretty much summed up by Steve Ferns. A loan fee of anything upto £5m in some cases. This is usually deducted from from the agreed transfer fee if the move is made permanent. For example Yobo’s loan fee was 1m plus another £4m = final transfer fee of £5m. Plus a proportion of the players wage usually between 50% to 100%.

Talking of loans, sorry this is off thread but I’ve got to say it: We MUST get Niall McGinn on loan. He’s not a regular at Parkhead but, believe me, he will be a superstar. Pace, two-footed, loads of tricks, a good crosser, and a down to earth attitude. If I could pick one player for Everton to get, it would be him.

I wonder what other PL clubs would offer for Mikel Arteta if we put him up for sale? Same for Phil Jagielka.

So lets cash in our chips and sell them. Then have a look at what we can purchase with the proceeds — two new signings which would apparently keep some fans happy. Suggestions Nick?

Any manager in the land would be delighted to have Arteta back after a year out. To the coach, he is like a new signing only better, because he’s already part of the club.

If EFC claims that the returning players are like new signings, they should simply be more honest and say there is no more money left. Moyes says this. If the club, BB or the OS use the ’like a new signing’ line, let’s nail them then.

Being a ’small club’, in terms of debt that is, I would be surprised if they don’t go along with the new financial honesty we are seeing.

Really Andy? I’ve seen a bit of him and he has talent but surely you’d prefer someone else to him especially in the short term as I don’t think he’s going to hit the ground running in the Premier League.

Shane, he really is that good. I’ve watched Celtic a lot in the last 25 years and I believe he’s the best since Charlie Nicholas. For any Evertonians who don’t get that. Well, in my view, for Charlie, read Alex Young.

Andy, sorry mate Alex Young and Charlie Nayclass are in two different leagues, I’ll take your word this boy is good but have you seen how much they are asking for McGeady?

Loan signings have been brilliant for Everton.Davey has used the system well and has picked up a string of excellent players-some of whom have eventually become permanent signings- whilst those who haven’t cut the mustard have been sent packing without complication.
What would you rather have him do? Sign every player that moves like Arry Boy does and bring the club to bankruptsy?

Some proper backing from the board would be useful Richard, I see we have reduced our numbers by 2 so far this window!! when will the cavalry be arriving over the hill from Bill ? I wont hold my breathe!!

Richard Jones: We haven’t reduced our numbers by two, but by one. Neill and Jo out, Donovan in, is a net loss of one player.

Has anyone seen this tenuous but exciting link with us for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar on a loaner for the rest of the campaign? Moyes masterstroke of the season if he pulls this one off :- )

Not just our transfer window. No-one else is splashing the cash Big Dunc, all loan loan loans across the January transfer window......Donovan, Zaki, James, Mujangi....with only Brum & the Mackems spending a whopping 5 mil between them on 2 players.

As for Huntelaar, Football365 have picked up on it too

Senderos has been confirmed (announced by Jeff S on Sky). Maybe this helps that Distin could cover left back for Baines if necessary. Lets get KJ Huntelaar.

A fairly coherent translation of the article from football international.
Klaas Jan Huntelaar is looking at getting more game time with one eye on the world cup. The Italian club would be willing to hire him to EFC for 6 months.
The Telegraph knows that negotiations between Milan and Everton are already underway about a temporary transfer.
Milan, where Huntelaar rarely plays don’t want to sell him permanently and see a loan deal as a good solution.
Everton, where former Ajaxer Heitinga is under contract is looking for a new striker after losing Jo due to a bust up with manager David Moyes.
Another Telegraph article also mentions that 6 clubs have contacted his agent about a possible move, Shaktar Donesk being the only one mentioned other than Everton although it’s said he left their enquiry unanswered as he doesn’t fancy the Ukraine, Also says he doesn’t want a return to his native Holland. Says he speaks German and English and can get by in Spanish and Italian and has a preference for these top 4 leagues. He is quoted as saying that he has now become second choice striker at Milan but is unsure if this is enough to get the game time required by the national coach to make selection for the WK.

As expected a loan signing - defensive cover in the shape of Senderos now confirmed. We certainly won’t be short of centre backs until the end of season, but still feel we’d lose a lot of balance if Bainsey gets injured. Both Senderos and Distin could play LB, but only at a last resort.

How much are our loan signings to do with the tie up with the Champ Manager duo? It’s interesting that we’re picking up foreign pre-contracts all of a sudden.
