Fernandes back on Moyes's radar?

Comments (16)

Having read DM's remark about having "one or two people I may yet bring in" and then Manny's comments: "I'm not playing as regularly as I intended at Valencia and I have a dream of being called to play at the World Cup with the national team. We will have to see what happens this week and if it is good for me and the club"...

My reaction was "I hope Moyes is aware of the situation" and "Come home, Manny, to where you are wanted and where you can hopefully fulfil your potential". However, I am sure fellow ToffeeWeb readers will have mixed views on the talented Portuguese. I await them with bated breath!

According to reports in yesterday’s Spanish sports journal, Fernandes is on his way to Sporting Lisbon — so we may well see him again... albeit in a green & white shirt!

Tenuous to say the least.... try’n look at Fernandes like you may look back on a long "dumped by" girlfriend... move on!

We have an abundance of players who can play the central midfield position and who Moyes would put into either of the two central midfield positions before Fernandes - Fellaini, Arteta, Osman, Rodwell, Pinnear

Thanks but no thanks. He stank the gaff out in his second spell.

We won’t see him in a green and white shirt, as he’s already played for Valencia in the Europa League and therefore ineligible to represent another team, Tony!

Get over it, seriously.

Yes, his performance against Arsenal was fantastic, his goal vs Man Utd was equally memorable. The rest of his performances in his first spell were ok, much better than the dross we were used to anyway.

Its now been how long? 3 seasons since we first got him, I think.

In his second spell he was dogmuck. As said above, we have Arteta, Fellaini, Rodwell, Bily, Ossie and Pienaar all capable of playing in the middle, all capable of creating chances.

Also, it's a very tenuous link.

We are obviously after a striker following Jo’s departure, and we will be after a quick winger I would imagine.

Huntelaar seems to be the main one were linked with, but I don't see that one happening.

If we signed anyone at the moment I would like it to be Victor Moses. Apparently we went for him in the summer. He has now been made available by the club's administrators. We haven’t been linked with him, I don’t expect us to get him, but I would hope the club see a player like him available and at least attempt to sign him.

I expect one loan/cheap permanent signing and a Donovan loan extension.

I wouldn’t say he was ’dog muck ’ in his second spell, fair enough he didn’t start it so well but by the end he was taking set pieces and snapping out those passes again. Im ashamed to admit that I would always take him back. Not going to happen though.

Would take him back in a heartbeat. One of the best players to play for Everton under DM simple as.

Another good deal would be Victor Moses as mentioned by Fran above. Excellent player but interest is high so I doubt it would be possible but still worth being in with a shout!

Better than any of our existing MF including Arteta but unlikely to come back as I believe he is going home to Sporting Lisbon.

I expect us to get a striker in. MAybe Beckford or Moses but it seems like Huntelaar is staying put and IMO he was the second in "1 or 2 more faces" as always that means 1.

Would love to have him back but I think Pienaar's and Saha’s contracts are more important!

Valencia are willing to do a loan deal on condition that the club that takes him pays half his annual salary of €1.2M, ie €600k, according to A Bola, a Portuguese website.

It amazes me how blinded some of the fans have become. Dogmuck?! Osman? Rodwell better than him? Not a chance.

This boy has something special and could provide at least a temporary problem to our creativity until Arteta is back to his form of last season, even then he would add significantly to the squad. If we have the chance to re-sign Manny then we should open it with welcome arms.

I do agree that, at the beginning of his second spell, his form was poor, but he was struggling with injuries. When he claimed he was over these problems, he transformed into a quite amazing player, providing many chances (Osman v Derby; Johnson v Spurs; assists against Newcastle...) and it baffles me as to why we didn’t sign him for the reported 6 million pounds. I for one would love to see Manuel Fernandes on Everton's books once again.

Ah well, we can all relax now, as it has been reported that he’s on his way to Mourinho’s Inter on a loan deal.
