Another winger??

Comments (10)

It is reported that Blackburn Rovers are in a battle with Everton FC for Barcelona midfielder Jeffren Suarez. The Daily Mail claims Sam Allardyce and David Moyes are both keen on the Spanish winger.

22-year-old Jeffren is a Spain youth international, despite his Venezuelan background, and is out of contract at the Catalan club this summer. In 2006, at the age of 18, he made his first-team debut for the La Liga side in the Copa del Rey.

Anybody know any more about him or this story?

Sorry, I don’t know anything about this guy — but your title ’Another winger’ is a bit mis-leading!

We actually don’t have any natural wingers — Arteta, Pienaar and Billy all are central midfielders who can play on the wing. We could do with some natural width. BUT I don’t think it’s a priority.

Does this guy have another name because he doesn’t appear in the Barcelona squad, as listed in AS (Spanish sports journal)?

On another matter, it also appears that Fernandes is leaving Valencia for Inter Milan, not Sporting Lisbon.

Sorry, my mistake: he’s known in Catalunya as JEFFREN!

He’s a typical Barca midfield player: small, nippy, very skilful. Seen him pre-season at Wembley, where he was excellent against Spurs and an Arabian team. Scores goals too but let's face it, how likely to come here is he?

He was scouted in World Soccer magazine recently as one of Barca’s future stars and, judging by some of the YouTube clips recently, he’s fast and skilful, a true winger.

Would of course love to see this type of player at Everton but I’m not holding out much hope on this one being true.

Lynne, I meant another winger we were associated with.

IMHO we are desperate for a pacy winger to help the RHS and keep opposing teams pinned back. The difference has been noticeable when Donovan has played there.

Glen, thanks for the link. He looks good on YouTube but there again I suppose everybody does.

As the Norwegian fullback stated, who was here last week, he wont be joining us because we have no money but may if he is still on the market join us for free in the summer when he is out of contract.

The Lucas Neill money has not gone into the kitty and it appears any incoming funds are used to pay debts. We are linked to every Tom Dick and Manuel in the days leading up to the transfer deadline and if any one comes in it will be loanees.

If the Norwegian was good enough we would've come up with the cash. Sounds like he’s a little pissed that he didn’t make the grade and has put the blame onto us.

What is the difference between being broke and being broke? All the time, I hear or read about clubs having no money and big debts. But they still manage to complete one transfer after another. Why are Everton (besides Portsmouth) the only team taking this "broke-thing" seriously? When Man Utd or Liverpool say they are broke, they always seem to have some "hidden" millions to buy players.

I see Spurs have now signed Guudjonson (however its spelled!) from under the noses of West Ham. They seem to have a nasty habit of watchcing other clubs track down players and then sneaking in at the last minute. Obviously they did it to us last year but it also seems when they do it, the players concerned end up on the bench, at best. You'd think the players would take notice, obviously not!
