I still stand by the yak, he’s gotta get one today. The assist was quality, the penalty was poor but the other one came to his feet very, very fast.

On the penalty call - yeah, that was a clumsy tackle, so technically it’s a penalty, but I think that the situation should be taken into account. In this case, the ball was heading out of play and Yakubu was not exactly about to score. I don’t think that should be a penalty.

On tv, people are riding Yakubu. I’m always quick to criticize lazy players but today, the penalty aside, I think that he looks ok. I’m always amused by how hard he hits the ball with seemingly minimal effort and nearly no back lift.

Replace Anichebe and Neville with Coleman and Donovan and we can score five or six. Their left hand side is non-existent, unfortunately so, is our right.

First touch from Yak is abysmal - keeps screwing the second desparate recovery touch up too.
Heitinga - boy, does that man go in HARD, but fair. 100% effort every match.
Arteta - say no more - class.
Pienaar great too, good to see him back with Bainsey, well supported by Arteta

Yak had a horrible injury that takes a long return to fitness. His general demeanour words against him is this return to 100%. The lad can score in buckets when he hits form. Next year will be key.

I thought we completely bossed that first half. Yak could have had a couple, but I felt the penalty miss was justice to be honest, Yak was headed nowhere. Our let down is wayward finishing. Not sure the exact count of chances we have had, but it feels we could be three up here. Hulls equaliser was a wonder goal, and an excellent strike. Cant really blame any player for that. The only blame lies at those not testing the keeper here, we should be well ahead by now. That said though, I feel confident we will finish these off second half. Hull have to go for it in the position they are in. That will suit us. Heitinga has been outstanding, he really brings a smile to my face when he plays. ANother masterstroke of a signing from Moyes.

Great performance lead by Arteta and Heitinga.... Fella who? .. no.. Arteta played a blinder and with Johnny cleaning up had the license to dictate play.... with the passing range those 2 have and the movement off the ball we showed all game, we were just tearing pieces out of Hull.

So great to have Jags back, winning important tackles with no thought to his time out... and until Fella is back, Johnny must stick to DFM.

Apart from the 3 guys above I thought Baines. Pienaar and Neville stood out. Rodwell got more and more into it as the game went on. Yak was good, apart from the one thing he is meant to do best - stick it in the net... he should have had 3 and Everton 8 ..

Great win - great performance!
