Obinna
Comments (13)
Just watching the West Ham v Chelsea game on Match of the Day, and was surprised to see a former Everton target, Victor Obinna, showing up for and starring for West Ham.
I was wondering what was different from when we tried to get him last year, when the reason given for Obinna not being able to sign was a work permit declination, compared to this year when he's allowed to play in the Premier League. And, if a certain requirement was removed, why didn't Moyes come back him for him? He certainly looked useful.

Most important point here is "starring for West Ham." THAT's why Moyes didn't go back for him!
No idea why we didn't take him. We needed him last summer and still do now.
I watched the Hammers game and liked what i saw, as well.
Considering we couldn't get Donovan, surely Obinna would have been a good back up plan for the right side/forward role?

He's big & strong, lightning fast, and see,s to have an excellent right peg.
Obviously not having a dime doesn't help, but would have loved to see him as a deadline loan deal.
A friend who saw him in La Liga for Malaga last year (finished 17th) also said we were not missing out on much.
Regarding Gyan - a record of 1 goal every 3.5 games in an average French League doesn't ring £13m for me and it looks like a touch of the Diouf's or indeed the Amokachi's following an average World cup that saw him score 3 goals (2 of which were pens - and another one missed).
I'll reserve overall judgement on both these players until they are challenging for Player of the Year
Seriously though, I hope he can have a good run at Palace and come back to Goodison a better (and hopefully fitter) player. That hat-trick can only do him good. A couple of friends of mine are big Palace fans - I'll get them to keep an eye on him for me.
