Team Spirit ? Is it lost over money?
Comments (23)
Over last few seasons, we have always said what great team spirit the team has, and how the team works for each other.... and the the big green monster: MONEY.
Tim signs a new contract for around £40k per week; then Arteta comes in and holds out for £70k... Now your likes of Osman, Bily, Hibbert earn a lot less ? so are we getting a "them and us" in the dressing room and the team starts to divide? Maybe... just a thought.
Regarding our totally overpaid manager... but the problem is he has given us expectation which we have never had since the 80s.

I don't think money is a valid reason for the (lack of) performance this season.
Our problem is a very simple one - we don't put the ball in the net. The games I've seen have been good from a performance point of view, and all those I've not been to point to good performances barring goal scoring.
Yakubu couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo and nor can the rest of them it would seem. We don't concede many but we don't score any = no points = bottom of the league. It's very straightforward.
The same goes for the rest of the clowns, they are on money beyond our wildest dreams, unimaginable money for showing no commitment or passion, I'll show passion and commitment for one week's wages of Arteta paid to me over the next two years. It is incredible amounts of money. Now if all footballers where on a basic wage of say £5k per week, still a truly amazing salary, with a win bonus of £50k a week, do you think they would try harder, do you think their passion would increase, their hunger get stronger? Too right it would!
Money is destroying the game we love, a working class guy paying £500 for a season ticket contributes 0.00012% to Arteta's annual salary.
All football clubs have to come to there senses and stop this madness, before it's to late. This pre-season has seen hardly anyone spend any money, because it's all going in the players' back pockets.
Onwards and upwards with the insanity.
Does make you wonder why we do it really, does anyone know of a rehab clinic for football fans!
Greedy bastards, I'd be happy with the mansion and model girlfriend... yeah, fuck the fans, moaning gits.
However, money in the game has and, as we are not one of the bank-rolled teams, we need to re-evaluate our goals and ambitions. I remember some kopite shite saying you can't win anything with kids .....well you can't win anything without money!
I love seeing posts saying we should do this, top four this year, we have a fantastic squad, we can win a cup etc... c'mon, get real, face facts. We were a great club with an amazing history, we are now a mid table side with amazing history, with very little to shout about for 15+ years unless we get bank-rolled and, to be honest, I couldn't care if they are Arab, Greek, Mexican, or Dutch, we will slip further away from the rest, that's the facts.
The only rehab clinic for fans is called a pub.
Swallow copios amounts of chosen medicine, usually in the form of a large glass with a frothy head, moan like fuck to anyone within earshot and then stagger home chunnering to self like a schizophrenic with an inner ear problem.
When home throw a couple of well aimed boots in the cats direction and retire to bed.
Hope this helps.
Now there's your incentive.
The Premier League, short-sighted greed.
And for me, the ludicrous amounts players are paid is just part of the problem.
Personally I'd love to see the whole rotten fucking mess implode.
Sky, Chelsea, The 'Premier' League, Murdoch, Man City, £150,000 a week to fellers who need 6 touches to get the ball under control, Sir Alex and Rafa, Harry Redknapp...
The whole thing makes me spew.
We all got mugged.
We all fell for it.
One big fucking con.
If the 15 or 16 teams who have NO chance of winning the title (like us) had any nuts, they'd threaten to fuck off and form their own league.
I'd love to see that.
Love to see one chairman say "How can a League be fair if a couple of teams can outspend most of the others by half a billion? I have spoken to my fellow chairmen and we are in agreement..."
But they won't, because they're like those lab rats that get a little pellet each time they do something right.
"Here's you Sky money, now shut the fuck up and back on your wheel".
Do we REALLY have no bargaining power?
See how the top four would like it having to play each other every week?
Super Sunday wouldn't be so super that's for sure.
Pro Rata maybe, but players want it all upfront and like sheep, we give them it. Artetea ( I am picking on him, sorry) has just been given a new £20 million pound contract for what is in real terms failure, we have won nothing.
I would love performance related pay, as they would all be struggling to pay the mortgage at the moment, maybe one less Bentley in the drive.
I really worry about the game, in real terms Everton have never had so much money, but we supposedly have none, maybe stand firm against the players, and stop paying them so much money, ok we may loose some in the process, but they are mercenaries and do not want to play for the shirt, look at the past, and the people who would die for the club, against these highly overpaid fairies who now disrespect our pitch.
Arteta in a week probably earns the same as Dixie Dean in his career, I know which one was better value.
I remeber Mick Lyons and Terry Darracott for example, but we invested and replaced them with Mike Pejic and Colin Todd then beat Liverpool for the first time in 7 years.
The best little spaniard we know is now copping for some awful stick here. I could have more respect for some of the negative opions if i'd read them before, say after winning at Man City or stuffing Utd 3-1, but strangely i didn't.
This side has beaten some bloody good sides and will do again.
Yes were are in the middle of a premiership con where the rich get richer, which makes it all the more amazing our improvement as a team.
I've total confidence in the players and Manager.
Sorry Toffeewebbers, rant over.
The FANS HOLD ALL THE POWER.
You just don't realise it.
If fans across the country stopped attending games in droves they would force a change. Without fans the game is worthless and doesn't work as a spectacle. If you want to facillitate change then the only way is to vote with your feet.
But it will not happen.
We as a family gave up with Sky Sports a few years ago, in fact it was free on Sunday and we still did not watch it. Would I like it, yes, am I going to pay £61 a month for it, NO, like everything connected with football, it's a fan rip off.
Football is the current fad, but when it bursts, and it will, the REAL fans, who turn up on a cold wet night in December may not be there, priced out of the working mans game by prawn sandwich munchers, who will move onto the next fad.
Dark days for football, unless someone sees the light and turns it on.
Take a bow, completely spot on.
When the meeja goes on about Jamie fucking twatface Redknapps suit then we nkow dam well all is lost.
We should let sky take their little three or four teams and piss off into Europe. We'd be best rid of them and England could do what it does best and thats produce our teams with our lads who dont get paid the Earth and, I'll wager we would have a much better England side for it.
But dont you just know they would have to come back crawling in the end. Why because fans would soon get bored shitless of European games with 500 passes before the halfway line.
Sadly, that's why your plan would never work.
Still, I'm sure if it wasn't for travelling fans they'd have games every day of the week like in baseball etc.
That's exactly what i was alluding too.
That's what is truly unique about the Premiership product. No other place on earth plays football like a boxing match, taking turns at hoofing the ball, taking turns at shooting and crossing the ball, taking turns at counter attacking at 140mph.
The European style football has become so advanced in ball possession I'm surprise the 24 sec shot clock is not introduced. Fucking bored shitless sitting through them 'games'. Spain could literally score 1 goal and pass for 89+ minutes.
The Premiership will therefore always have it's viewer fans. It's entertainment, not winning football.
Which is also why England will never win the World Cup.
