Not a spark of imagination or commitment

Quite simply the most awful awful ninety minutes from Everton that I can remember in forty years. Not one player wanted to win or even tried. No one put in a shift, they should all refund their wages and distribute them to the supporters unfortunate enough to witness what must go down as the most pathetic and uninspiring team in memory.
This season just gets worse and worse and worse. What were they thinking? What were they doing? No-one showed the slightest sense of urgency there was no skill, imagination and not a vestige of passion. Absolutely nothing, and all this against a very ordinary side. How did David Moyes prepare them to be so totally and completely inept?
It's impossible to take a single positive from this match. Season over... and, if they carry on like this, Championship football next year. It's impossible to overstate how truly bad they were, totally bereft of ideas and not a spark of imagination or commitment.
Hang your heads in shame players and if this is the best you can do then go all of you go. At the start of this season some of us thought they were good enough to challenge for the title... what a joke! You cannot be more wrong about a football team than that, they are an absolute disgrace to Everton Football Club and to their profession.

We just seem so directionless and... I don't know, tepid? There's no-one driving the team on, no 'backs to the wall' stuff. I just want this season to be over. Even if we have a massive clear out in the summer with loads of players going then I really wouldn't care ? if they haven't performed throughout the course of an entire season, then what's the point trying to keep them?
No fight, no guts and nowhere near any fucking glory.
Players turning up late on match day, no desire, no fight, no idea.
Just yet another, I couldnt give a shit stroll in the goodison park.
A shame on the club and everything it stands for.
Quite simply a fucking disgrace.
Reading were excellent to a man (and manager), but we made it so painfully straight forward for them.
Our style of play is so limited; there is no imagination, no flair, no pace, no skill, no desire, no urgency. How can a squad of supposedly advanced footballing ability serve up something so utterly pathetic?
I have been pro-Moyes throughout his tenure. When we have been poor on previous occasions I have always felt that wholesale changes were not the answer. But tonight was unacceptable, and there is no longer sufficient reason for Moyes to remain. And a clearout of some of the playing staff - Anichebe, Beckford (don't be fooled by his brace of scuffs at the weekend), Saha and Bilyaletdinov certainly - is a necessity. And if anyone still thinks Rodwell is worth £15 million plus (just because he can switch play when no opposition player is marking him - as that's pretty much the only thing it seems that he can actually do) then offload him immediately...
I agree with post 4 ? Rodwell goes side-ways (actually backwards) far too often. £15 million ? we will be lucky but we should take it given any offer close.
Finally, is it worth expending any energy on tapping the keyboard to describe Anichebe? Well here's eight letters: he's shite.
I don't think anyone other than Baines, maybe Coleman is "untouchable".... any of them that we could get a decent price for I'd sell! Buy young hungry players and start over!
I always felt LD added that bit of natural arrogance to the squad last season. Likely he's not coming back to Goodison. But, more than anything, we need the fellow with the same attitude.
We currently have a squad where "EFC punches above its weight" is quite enough to satisfy them. Our results against the top sides recently prove that as much as our limp-dick performance today does.
This is the Everton Way ? Groundhog Day. It's always "After the Lord Mayor's Parade" with us and it's time for a change.
Thanks for all you've done for us, Mr Moyes... but it's time to go.
Did you even go?
Are you just trying to wind everyone up, you clown, FFS?
That was UTTER gash that last night and everyone on here makes valid points ? DISGRACE doesn't even begin to describe it, lad.
Just confirmed to me that I'll not be renewing my ticket next year, coz we're goin' nowhere fast and if none of the players are arsed then why the fuck should I be.....?! Twats.
I just wonder how many more of these performances we'll witness in the last 10 games? I mean which players are really going to be motivated to go out there and get 3 points for the team to achieve our final target for the season ? survival?
We're better of playing six-aside.
And Davey is supposedly a defending expert...
The players aren't good enough and the couldn't be arsed attitude ran through the team last night but Moyes sometimes just seems devoid of any tactical acumen at all.
To take both your wide men off and bring on two strikers with no wide players left to feed them boggles the mind.
Our tactics suited Reading down to the ground and credit to them for how they set up. It's really difficult to get through the middle against a well set out team and this is where we needed our width.
Baines again was our only real creative outlet as Coleman went off there were absolutely no options down the right in the second half.
Our centre midfield has no pace or drive and i'm starting to agree with some posters, what does Rodwell actually do that earns him this ridiculous tag of being a £20 million player? With Fellaini out for the season he's got a run of games now to try and show us what he's all about.
To touch on a couple of other points, regarding Moyes's comments about Osman and Hibbert having jobs for life, quite simply absurd to tell them no matter how shit you can play you're guaranteed a job.
As for Anichebe, yes he's garbage there's nothing he can do about that, he has a level of skill and that's what he's got, but for Moyes to be selecting him for the team on a regular basis make is a poor indictment on his capacity to assess a player's ability.
Well I'm sure the Reading players are at their training ground this morning as fesh as daisies because they had to do fuck all last night to defend their lead. In fact statues could have defended against us last night because all we'd have done was pass it sideways whilst Arteta would have hit the first of them from free kicks and corners.
A truly monumental shambles of a club from top to bottom... players, management staff, marketing staff and board all completely sub-standard for a Premier League outfit.
In nine years, we haven't won a thing; in nine years, we haven't looked like winning a thing... so why are we keeping this manager?
Gary @ 19 is spot on ? we are a badly run club. Everton are a great club with a fantastic history and fantastically passionate and loyal supporters, so what on earth is going on? A major change is required now.
We know that without investment we are not going to be able to compete for the title or in Europe but, having said that, if we cannot beat teams like Reading and it wasn't a one-off, then something is definitely wrong.
Moyes must have known that Reading would hope for a goal and then defend but it didn't appear that way as usual no plan B! Very frustrating!
