The real insult is that money that should have been given to Pienaar was used to give a nice contract to Anichebe ? what does it say about his management skills when one of your two creative players are let go without any replacement?

The RS game apart, and first half against Man Utd, that last night was the usual stodgy performance lacking in craft, guile and quality that we have produced all season, that tells me (but obviously not Moyes) that we are a very average side in need of 4 or 5 first team players at least.

For the "we have no money" brigade, Reading had not 1 but 2 strikers both better than Anichebe, who Moyes sees as our future... so it shouldn't be that hard to find players with basic footballing skills that lots of are players lack.

Yet on the other hand we have to carve out goals either with Baines's precise executions of free-kicks, or through Coleman's run or decent deliveries into the box for Cahill to head in. Why can't teams give us cheap goals to score? As soon as Birmingham went one-nil up, I knew we wouldn't win.

Rodwell seems to be playing very much within himself, through confidence or tactics it?s debatable; however he is still a young player making his way in the game and will have ups and downs, make mistakes and form will fluctuate. But he has way more than he?s showing, he?s got talent to burn and when he eventually leave s(apologies but he will in the next 2 years max), he will show it.

Saha seems to be dropping deeper and sometimes wider, searching for possession; in my opinion, the age and injuries have stacked up and he?s lost the ability to turn defenders so can?t get in behind anymore really. When he plays as the lead striker with Cahill off him, we just don?t trouble teams, at all. When Beckford plays, he plays on the shoulder of defenders, Saha therefore drops off. Let?s be honest, Saha is on the finish; we may get another useful season as a squad player, but he is essentially living off reputation.

The squad is completely unbalanced and we need a big rethink on the balance of the midfield and the strikers at the club. If we even want to think about consistent European qualification, starting with the finishing 5th/6th and building it up, playing twice a week, Ossie is a genuine, honest squad player. That?s where we were progressing to 18 months ago, however through a combination of lack of dollar and Moyes having possibly his worst spell in charge for about 6 years (he?s got little right for months), we've blown it and we are where we are, midtable.

Ossie is the creative hub till season end!!! All keyed up?! Let?s just get this season done and get as many points as we can, it?s all about next season already.

We got a poor result last night, pretty understandable given Arteta's injury and the loss of Fellaini and Pienaar, and Bily's strange attitude when given a chance but Osman put in more than a shift and we WOULD miss him if he gets injured.

And what's more, whenever I am at the match, I hear nothing but positive comments about Ossie from those around me.

I agree with the virtues you and Doddy have listed and would have him as a squad player pushing for Europe all day. However, I think he is symptomatic of our limitations as a team and a club, which means a very similar but more talented and equally hard working player who jumped ship was playing Champions League against AC Milan last night. And that's the frustration which Ossie, wrongly, bears the brunt of.

Our squad is the most threadbare of every team in the Premier League apart from maybe Blackpool. We are playing utility systems where its make do and mend. Players doing jobs out of position and a bench which is really weak. I still reckon we are not out of the woods and 42 points are needed for comparative safety.

Felli out for season, Arteta maybe the same, Cahill out until the end of this month at least... these are facts not pessimism.

As for the game, best forgotten like many this season.

Being positive will not win any team football matches: quality players with a little guile, craft and vision may get the job done but, given these are words Moyes has little understanding of, it's unlikely we will ever see these qualities from a Everton team managed by Moyes.

For me, it's quite simple: if we do not keep clean sheets (which we rarely do), we will not win many games, this is how it's always been under Moyes and it's how it will stay, imo.

Did you expect us to beat Birmingham at Goodison? We don't have a divine right to beat anybody but it should take more than the very basic tactic of getting men behind the ball for teams like Birmingham, Wolves, Wigan, West Brom, West Ham, Bolton and Newcastle to get a result at Goodison.

Moyes talks of Europe and the top 6 which is insulting, he is obviously blinded by shite and deluded which is a big worry. His comments regarding Osman, who is a fine footballer but lacks the strength and pace to ever be top top quality, and Hibbert, who gives his all but is a Championship player, should concern anybody and everybody who wants to see the club challenging for honours and Champions League places. Think mid-table then don't ever expect to go beyond it.

Someone had mentioned that we simply couldn't breakdown Birmingham's five across the middle. Well DM gets £65k a week and surely he has a TV, he could even watch MotD and see how Brum play and know what he needs to do to play against a team playing 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 or whatever variation of each, this is bread and butter management ? not rocket science, surely?

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of Anichebe who seems content to come on, contribute less than zero, pick up his pay and pretend he's a professional footballer in the most competitive league on the planet. If anyone offers to take him off our hands, we should bite off their arm at the elbow.

Whilst you're there, tell them history starts before 1990. Chelsea were more famous for having a greyhound track around the pitch than playing football until recently.
