Are we going to just stand by and let this happen? Rodwell, a future England captain, off to Man Utd, à la Rooney???
Well I for one am not interested in all the bullshit of how the money from this transfer will save the club, and how we can spend it wisely... On whom? And why let our cream leave for another club???
Where's the future for Everton? ? Should we constantly let our best kids leave???
Don't be fooled by Kenwright and his oppos making money off the fans' backs... yeah, the average gate paying true supporter who pays his/her hard earned money to watch exciting young and up-and-coming stars ply their trade at Goodison Park...
I'll say again, forget the cash from his sale... we will only go backwards ? EVERYONE can see he is going to be a star of the future ? why not with us???

Even though Rodwell is still young, I haven't seen anything to warrant a price tag of £25m.
Smaller clubs will always lose players like Rodwell to teams like United. We are a small team in comparison to United!
Transfers is the nature of the game. Everton should look at it another way, in terms of how the current team can be improved with that type of capital. However, if the manager doesn't get the money then that is another story!
Just be ready for Rodwell to get the usual stitch-up job from Kenwright's chums in the media, ie, the likes of Dave Prentice, when the deal goes through. Jack will be attacked from all sides for his "greed" and "disloyalty" and will get a barracking on his return.
Again selling our best young prospect just about sums up where we are right now as a club under BK's clueless leadership.
Yes, it is our future, it's also the present and recent past.
Bill's building a team for the future. In the Championship that is.
Expect to see Rodwell, Felli, Jonny, Jags, Bily & Bainsey shipped out to pay the bills, the only question is: How much will the manager (whoever that is) get?
If Kenwright had the decency to sell up and get out, we would not only keep Rodwell (and Fellaini, Baines et al) but actually invest in new players ? now there's a positive thought.....
There are players as good as Rodwell in the Championship ? remember Reading, anyone? Rodwell played in that game, Reading midfield players were better! Take the money before they realise!
£25 million for Rodwell would be a great deal as we are only selling potential. Like Jeffers.... Look what happened to him!!
We'll see at least one player leave at the end of the season (and that's on top of those already on loan) with the usual media slander job done on them to get the sheep who fall for it blaming the player and not BK and his mercurial business brain. So yes we can't afford not to sell him whilst BK and cronies are still here.
I don't go for the pessimistic we'll sell and not reinvest. The last few seasons show that is exactly what we do: sell to buy.
And I reckon one of Fellaini or Rodwell will go, the money paying for a replacement plus a striker.
Kenwright's legacy will be having sold Rooney and Rodwell, two failed ground moves, and winning one less trophy than Peter Johnson. He's given up on EFC and until he is out of our club, one way of the other, we will just be a feeder club to the likes of United. Who will be next, Ross Barkley?
I can't believe some Evertonions have given up on us ever becoming a big club again. Well, enjoy sitting in a three quarters full Goodison. But I won't be there until Agent Kenwright has gone.
Hate to say this, but I still don't understand the Citeh reference.
I confidently expect that Wes Brown will be our next captain and you can all look forward to Pepe being in our midfield in the near future.
Although Rodwell hasn't stepped up his game this season and seems injury prone, it would be nice to keep him for longer as the position he's in is not one usually mastered until a player is a few years older.
Rodwell is supposed to be the next bright light coming through the ranks in English football, according to the likes of Sky Sports and journalists, but this season, out of all the likes of Rodwell, Wilshere, Gibbs, Henderson, Carroll and Kyle Walker, I think, Rodwell is the only one who as been over looked by Capello all season, even though Capello said he would look to blood youth from now on.
IF we could get £25M for him in the summer and then sell the likes of Yobo, Yak, Vaughan and maybe even Heitinga and Bily, then we could make up over £40M plus and if we could give Moyes at least £30M of it for players and wages and then use the rest to service debts then I think a lot of people will be happy with that in the summer.
After two seasons of indifference and shite, we need to freshen things up and with us being in a bad financial state, we need to ship players out in order to bring in money for our own improvements. Rodwell is the one that will bring in big bucks, and tbh, he's only a squad player at best when everyone's fully fit so why not sell this summer for silly money?
Because, let's face it, he will go eventually, and IMO he's no use to us right now warming the bench most weeks like he will be when everyone's fit, so why not sell him and use the money wisely to improve us and give us more of a chance of challenging for Europe next season.
And when Barkley recovers from his leg break, we could bring him along and let him take over Rodwell's mantle of being the next big potential coming through the ranks and breaking in to the 1st team squad.
Kopites would never accept a lying egotistical horrible twat like Kenwright. But at EFC, apathy reins, so we get the club we all deserve. A nothing club with only our great history left. Kenwright is slowly killing EFC.
Elegant player with potential ? yes; Indispensible future Everton legend ? merely perhaps...
People talk about Spurs now, but I clearly remember the time they had to sell Berbatov, Carrick, Keane etc to bigger clubs. It is simply the way football has always been. If we sell Rodwell, or if we sell Felliani then it allows change. Everything is cyclical, and hopefully in the not too distant future it may be that there is some kind of investment and we will be on a better financial footing.
What is clear is that any money we receive has to be reinvested into the squad. Then we might unearth another Felliani, Baines, Piennar or Arteta and it starts again. Selling players need not be a failing, rather that the club has succeeded.
In terms of United players, I really rate Gibson and think that he would be attainable. Great delivery from set pieces and has a goal in him too. Trappotoni wants him to move, and although he said he wouldn't be interested in a move to a 'smaller' team, I reckon Everton could be attractive enough for him to consider. He could fourish being a first team regular.
And to the bloke who thinks Moyes will get £30m to spend if we sell everyone, are you high? Have you not been watching the slow inexplicable decline of this great club? The only way that will ever happen is if Kenwright the smarmy incompetent liar is run out of dodge. Kenwright you're fired!
Plus, we can always buy him back two years later for about £7 million.
Fellaini's no hype, he is bloody quality. We were short on personnel and had him filling in up front too long.
But he is a class CM. If he goes this summer, we should keep hold of Rodwell. We can't sell both.

On Bill losing Kings Dock, I remember hearing we'd lost it, I could not feckin believe it. That was a far bigger loss than Rooney. I live away, and don't remember it being down to BK not relinquishing control. That would be unforgiveable.

Oh, as for Rodwell, I fear he will be another Jermaine Jenas. Alright, but not a world beater.

Of the two, I'd have hoped Fellaini went as Rodwell is on a longer contract ? even though I rate Fellaini as the better player.
Because you can already see Fellaini will be sold next summer after refusing to sign a new deal ? if he's not also sold this summer.
Going back to Rodwell, he's a good passer of a ball but to crablike; watch when a move breaks down, he's slow at getting back. Maybe he will be a good centre-half but we will never see him there at Goodison. I still reserve jugdement as how great he's going to be, just like all the crap about Rooney: good player but not the great player (world class) he was touted as. So I say cash in same with every other player at the club ? the only one I would be sad to go would be Baines.
£25m for Rodwell would be excellent money for a player that isn't exactly setting the world on fire.
As for him being a future England captain, I would lay off the strong skunk if I were you mate ? it's obviously interfering with your judgement.
Although there is no doubt Rodwell has the potential to be world class, I can't help thinking he is gonna be the type of player that is plagued with injuries for too much of his career.
There are other people we should sell before Rodwell, eg, Vaughan, Yobo, Heitinga, Bily, Beckford, Yak, Victor. These are the players we should sell.
It's OK blaming Rodwell for side ways passes but even Arteta struggled when in the centre because none of our forwards move. They are like statues.
He earns around £20k a week. If we get £25M for him, after paying off some of the debt to keep the bank happy, we may be left with £15M to buy say 3 new players. We will then have £20k a week to pay them.
What players earn £7k a week these days? Championship players?
Unless Bill leaves, we will be in the Championship for the start of the 2012-13 season. Happy days, at least we might be in with a chance of winning something. Then again...
We all know how these structured deals work. We're fuckin good at them now. A bit now, a bit then, a pat on the back and then some ageing Utd players thrown in. How can we complain? We're just Everton after all. What do we expect?
For me, regardless of the players we might be able to purchase, it still leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I hate this raising talent (you can argue about how much "talent" he posseses if you like) and then farming them off to Man U and Citeh and so on, like Rooney and Lescott. It just burns.
It may be benificial in the short term, and depending on whether he reaches his claimed potential or not, might even be better in the long term, I just hate losing these guys to the fat cats.

You're presuming (I think) that a new ground would give us 60,000+ gates and extra revenue from dozens of corporate suites and boxes. But how will we fill the ground (with our support from a deprived area) if we have a crap team?
And as for corporates... fancy watching City or Utd battling for the League or plucky, struggling litlle Everton v Wigan ? doesn't wash for me, I'm afraid; build a successful team first ? people will come.
As for people thinking Rodwell is shit, quite a few other managers would take him ? they cannot all be wrong. Very few 19-year-olds... sorry ? he's now 20 ? would look good in our midfield, there's no-one to fucking pass to, no movement up front. Saha got 4 goals against Blackpool; he could've had a few against Brum but took the wrong option.
It's never pleasant to see youngsters sold on after breaking through but there is nothing I have seen from Rodwell that makes him worth that kinda money!
It would be bad business and stupid to not take it. However, it makes me uncomfortable thinking how Black Bill will swallow up the money.
No player is worth £25M to Everton FC, it's only when you get to the top that it's worth spending that much on a player because the margins between teams are smaller. We could replace his effect on our team for £5M and start to build a sustainable future for Everton FC.
Only by clearing the debt will we be able to genuinely compete instead of poking round the lower divisions for bargain loans, etc ? which is frankly an embarrassment for our great club.
Do you really trust the current board to actually do this? To turn things around and start making progress???

I'm not presuming anything. I'm saying our chances of becoming a big (money) club again depend on having either the right stadium or a sugar-daddy or both. We need one of those just to have a chance.

What comes first? Chicken or egg? good team, or support. Having just the opportunity to have money will make getting a top team possible. Without it, things look bleak... partly, as you say, because we've not got a rich fanbase.

Ok, we bought Gueye, Silva and Mucha for about £1.5 million, and sold no-one. Released Nash and sent Yobo out on loan.
In busier pre-seasons, our buy-sell policy has tended to be net £0-2 million purchases.
On that basis I would expect sales to fund purchases, as they always seem to. One of the biggest was three years ago. We spent some £15-17 million on Pienaar and Fellaini, received £16 million for McFadden and Johnson.
There is a pattern.
I'm hoping that the banks are happy with Bellefield money and savings on wages (Pienaar, Yak, and Vaughan). We'll see.
