Seems we are being linked with some fairly deent names in today's press and internet gossip coulmns ? Djalo, Defour & N'Zogbia? I know gossip is not worth the paper on cyberspace it is written on but it's the first of the above 3 players I'd be most excited to see.
Seen him play about 5 times now. He can play right wing left wing or up front - fast and excellent goal scoring record. A random but interesting quote from Spurs Danny Rose when talking about Portuguese players says: ?They had some real stars out there and Yannick Djalo is off to Arsenal or Everton or so I heard".
Reports in Belgium say its between Everton and Spartak Moscow that Defour will choose between while a few sources are saying Moyes will enter the running for Nzogbia who is definitely leaving Wigan. I'd be happy with anyone of those 3 as an improvement to what we have but do hope there is some truth in the Djalo rumours.
And, yes I know Everton have no money before you tell me so, but maybe Moyes has already decided who to sell and the strength of these stories are based upon forthcoming sales(s)?

Don't you just hate this time of year. No footy and just endless speculation. Moyes should have £5M banked already (Pienaar and Vaughan), let's hope he can get rid of Yobo and Yakubu quick then.

Other teams have already landed some players and as usual it seems to take an age to get anything off the floor at Goodison.....we certainly are a club of ditherers and constantly seem to missout when competing with other clubs for signatures.
Ive noticed that our signings are not competed for eg; Bily and Heitinga so as soon as i see that any other club are linked with a prospective addition I give up !!

Late signings mean no extra wages to pay over the summer.Bill and Davey have always tended to be prudent at this stage of the summer.
I kow this is a slightly unrelated artilcle, but I can?t understand why Everton are prepared to run the risk of Fenerbache waking away from the Yobo deal by holding out for 5 to 6 million. What did we pay for him something like 4 mill 7 odd years ago? What?s wrong with a valuation of 25% less than we paid for given his age, ability and miles on the clock in terms of games? Put it this way if you bought a car brand new from the showroom would you expect it to appreciate in value? It just seems another example of Kenwright being unreasonable and unrealistic to the detriment of the manager who won?t be able to get funds in quickly enough before all his transfer targets vanish.
Yeah I like Djalo, still young and a bit raw but he's pacy, skilful and looks to run at people. He, or someone like him, is exactly what we've needed for a long time in wide positions. Moyes tried once to buy a player like that, and it seems his Van Der Meyde experience has put him off ever doing it again.
N'Zogbia would also be a good signing, but I think his reputation and the fact that he's already successful in the Premier League mean he'd cost a lot more, so if we've got the money, great, I'll have them both, but if we're as skint as we seem, I'd look for the cheaper option. Personally I'd sign them both and play them both if possible, but it would represent a significant change in philosophy from Moyes if he did that.
Defour I don't know so much about, but I'd like to see a Fellaini-Arteta axis in midfield given time to develop, so again, if money's limited, a central midfielder wouldn't be my priority.

It makes just as much sense to say he's a house and we bought him cheap, 'did him up' (he's got better and more experienced in his time with us) and we deserve to make a profit for this. The player is worth what someone is prepared to pay and I'm happy to try to get as much as possible rather than 'panic sell' at the first offer that came in.

Last season we struggled at home against the so-called little teams, West Brom, Newcastle etc etc, they came and parked the bus and to be honest we were clueless as how to break the down; my response is 4-3-3.
Now there's lots of rumours flying around about players being linked with the club... personally I'd love to see three: Demba Ba, N'Zogbia and Jarvis. This may sound like playing football manager... and to an extent it is; however, they are all realistic targets, with £5 millon banked from Peinaar and Vaughan and with Yobo and Yak on there way out and maybe getting rid of a few more dead wood, these three are well affordable.
All are young pacey players exactly what we need. My team for next season would be: Howard Coleman, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Arteta, Rodwell, Fellaini, N'Zogbia, Jarvis and Ba. Mouthwartering attacking frontline... and maybe when we are playing away, as Moyes is so cautious, could be: Howard, Neville, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Jarvis, Fellaini, Arteta, Cahill, N'Zogbia, Beckford, with a bench of Saha, Osman, Heating! Coleman, Garbutt, Ba and Geuye. There's my thoughts ? bring on next season.
To add to the Pienaar and Vaughan funds, sell Bily (no less than £6m), Rodwell (no less than £18m), Anichebe, Yobo and Yak and that will cover the N'Zogbia transfer as the max fee should be £11m and Donovan (if less than £5m) and surely we'd have enough money to go for Sturridge/Djalo left. Plus a loan to cover at left back and we'd have twice the squad we did this year, who can actually go forwards through the wingers rather than sideways and a top class young striker (less risky investment financially) rather than an injury prone top class striker who's getting on.
I'd stick with Neville at RB for one more year because I'm sure he's a good influence on the young players and experience is invaluable.

Nick, I'm sorry but even though Yobo has fell out with Moyes and has been known to make the odd clanger, he is still a very good player and it's no coincidence that Fenerbache have just won the league with him at the heart of the defence. Surely, if anything this should increase his valuation and he's also recently captained Nigeria to a drubbing of Argentina.
We should get his agent to look for other clubs, because I'm sure someone would be willing to pay more around the 5 million mark for a player of his quality in today's climate of Jones' and Henderson's!

Deffo Tony. I just can't understand why people keep bringing it up, as if its burning a hole in BK's pocket.
I think the pot will be in the region of £10 M-always provided sales can be agreed for the Two Ys.Otherwise,it`s going to be half of that and a search for free transfers.The whole of football is beginning to feel the draught-not before time either!

The speculation will continue all Summer long and many players will be linked to Everton but unless we can sell some for decent money then the best we can expect is loan deals for lesser known "stars". Seems like many big investors are not interested in buying into Everton but many prefer to enquire after "smaller" clubs on the cheap.
Sometimes I feel that the Everton hierachy are quite happy at Everton's status as long as they function as a viable financial business hence the lack of real urgency about possible incoming investment. Chances are they will not get the kind of money they would like for some of the "stars" they could sell and may keep them around for another season which would be disappointing for the fans who would like to see better results. Each ambitious club signs YOUNG players with lots of potential...DM has said that he wants to lower the average age of our squad so we MUST keep the younger players and add to them by gradually off loading those players with more miles on the clock...eg; Yobo, Yak and one or two other fringe squad members like Heitinga and Bily who have both been very disappointing and not worth the money spent on them.

Trevor, Moyes looks at every player as a ' Utility ' player, even if they can't play in other positions. I mean, Rodwell on the right - wing.
l Mike, the car analogy was a roundabout way of saying his peak years are behind him. Ok he might have done well for Fenebache this season but since when has the Turkish league been a power house of European football? Don?t forget he was more or less second choice as soon as we got Jags and Lescott so that in itself suggests he had hit a plateau. Fans moan on this site regarding the alleged money we turned down from West Ham for Yakuba and they will be moaning when Yobo comes back into the fold drawing a high wage and contributing little when we screw this deal up as well.

We can't even get Demba Ba we haven't offered enough. The shite want N'Zogbia too, we will sign Jay Bothroyd and thats all, exciting stuff thank you Kenwrong and the board for another great summer and season ahead.

Sorry Andrew disagree about all 4 of those players you mention except maybe Carew if Saha is going to be a crock for most games again. Reo-Coker is just another average guy like Osman lets just go with Gueye.

Ross Barkley will be like a new signing, he was back in training at the end of last season , and i was told by someone who coaches at finch farm that he is shit hot and should be playing for the first team next season.
Its those kind of names and players we should be competing for to strengthen and trying to improve every season.

How the fuck can Sunderland, Newcastle and a host of other Premier League clubs compete for these players when in the same period they have even suffered relegation.

What really sickens me is seeing other clubs doing something to freshen up their squads and we do NOTHING !! Our players seemingly have jobs for life and can play if they want to....where is the competition ???

Brian Waring - under normal circumstances I would agree totally that the £5M is banked to slightly reduce the overdraft.
However I have heard a few whispers from people in the game, that Moyes has money available this summer.

Nick, If we couldn't afford to even bring in some loan signings in Jan, and even had to send players out to save money, then forgive me for being sceptical about cash for Moyes this time around.

This reminds me of when I was a kid looking at the Littlewoods catalogue - dreaming - if only. (not the lingerie models - that was much later, tee hee).
If we had Djalo and N'Zogbia then we could survive with the Yak and King Louis up front along with Beckford and the Greek lad. We would not need to be spending millions on a striker when we would surely be able to get ten goals each from the above 3.
The place we need reinforcements apart from the wings is probably attacking midfield.. Osman is the man there at the moment but Adam scores plenty from this position and bring a range of shooting we dont have.

I see Rodwell has been dropped from the England U21 starting line up. Pearce must be starting to see what everyone else sees.
Trevor, no I havent read all your other posts on here and without wanting to sound rude, why would I have ? I just "read into" your commment that you felt Moyes should leave, it would appear from what you say that this is not what you were saying and I was wrong, apologies.

I believe that DM's hands are tied and he basically has to toe the party line and cover for the boards financial inadequacies......I have always believed that if a player loses form he should be dropped and play in the reserves until he improves....now he is allowed to sit on the bench or continue to play....its exactly the same when a player comes back from injury....very few play reserve games to become match fit but are allowed to come on for 15 minute cameo's (on full pay)...... I admire Nevilles leadership qualities but I am certain that if he were a Man Utd player he would be retiring with his brother.

I see Pearce didn't pick Rodwell, and then chose to pick Macienne and that seems to be a royal balls-up. Rodwell then comes on in the second half and low-and-behold the midfield seems to perform with much more efficiency and less headless-chicken running.
I don't get this development of Rodwell is over-rated shit. He's 20, had 2 season that have been inter-ruped by injury and has been played in every position but his own due to the necessity to play the best-little-spaniard we know. Fact is, he is gonna be a very good player. He may not be the second coming of Jesus Christ Our Lord. He may not become a world player of the year. But he will become a very good player, the sort we should try and keep at this club. He will certainly be better than anything we can buy.
Next season we should have Fellaini and Rodwell as the starting central midfield. Then have Arteta, Osman and Cahill compete for the extra central midfield role (we're always gonna play 4-5-1 or some development of this).

Can't see N'Zogbia happening even if he was on pairity with Arteta. He looks the person who needs to be alpha dog at a club, takes all free kicks, corners, penalties. Won't happen plus we couldn't afford the transfer. Shame though he could be a bit useful for us.
Having read all the dreamers on here I thought I would say something equally as possible.
Why don't we sell Vic for £50m, Duffy for £50m and Saha for £100m. Then we could clear all of the clubs debt, trick Barca into selling us Messi for £20 and have loads of money left for a party.

The one thing that annoys me the most:
We won't splash out for new players other than a part of the money we bring in from sales. Now if that meant that we would reduce the loans significantly, I wouldn't be happy but I could see that it is for the good in the long run. But in one year time, we probably will have even higher debts! I hardly see a way out of this other than an invester buying the club.

Saw this one in the Sunday Times's possible transfer list amongst all the top prem clubs: 'Dale Jennings (Tranmere to Bayern Munich)'. I know some fans have mentioned him on this site as one for the future and have once seen him myself but if he is actually on Bayern Munich's radar I hope he on ours.

Saha is a problem. Yes he is a class act but not getting any younger. Everton are paying him 52 weeks wages but is that justified if we only get 20 games from him (some not even 90 mins). If we knew he would get 12-15 prem.goals in that time then he would be worth paying. The flipside is letting hime go to some club who could pay a reasonable sum for an injury prone forward and the wages could be used on a replacement who may not be out every other match. We have several others also who could be worth letting go now as new blood is needed to improve this squad.

Rodwell at his age has a chance in the future of playing for the England full side if he can get back to what he was before the last seasons hiccup, Mancienne's best chance of ever playing for the full England team was because he was at Chelsea and nothing else he hasn't even got that going for him now.

Fenerbache aren't willing to meet our £4mil valuation and are looking nearer to £3mil; petty in all honesty, since Yobo has been a revelation over there and scored in the game that won them the league.
Yak looks to be off to Leicester; he is a greedy so and so though and trouble is getting him to lower his current £35k a week wages.
Would love to see us sign N'zogbia. Djalo is unproven and a big gamble and Defour is a more central player and we've got more than enough of them.
