Transfer Trash Talk #4

Seems we are being linked with some fairly deent names in today's press and internet gossip coulmns ? Djalo, Defour & N'Zogbia? I know gossip is not worth the paper on cyberspace it is written on but it's the first of the above 3 players I'd be most excited to see.
Seen him play about 5 times now. He can play right wing left wing or up front - fast and excellent goal scoring record. A random but interesting quote from Spurs Danny Rose when talking about Portuguese players says: ?They had some real stars out there and Yannick Djalo is off to Arsenal or Everton or so I heard".
Reports in Belgium say its between Everton and Spartak Moscow that Defour will choose between while a few sources are saying Moyes will enter the running for Nzogbia who is definitely leaving Wigan. I'd be happy with anyone of those 3 as an improvement to what we have but do hope there is some truth in the Djalo rumours.
And, yes I know Everton have no money before you tell me so, but maybe Moyes has already decided who to sell and the strength of these stories are based upon forthcoming sales(s)?

I saw a stat the other day, a couple of summers ago we were linked with something like 130 players and signed just 4. We've been linked with nearly 30 already this Summer apparently. May be time to go away and come back in August!
Ive noticed that our signings are not competed for eg; Bily and Heitinga so as soon as i see that any other club are linked with a prospective addition I give up !!
Whats the betting that our team are abroad and nothing is done while DM is away !!!!!!!!!!!!
N'Zogbia would also be a good signing, but I think his reputation and the fact that he's already successful in the Premier League mean he'd cost a lot more, so if we've got the money, great, I'll have them both, but if we're as skint as we seem, I'd look for the cheaper option. Personally I'd sign them both and play them both if possible, but it would represent a significant change in philosophy from Moyes if he did that.
Defour I don't know so much about, but I'd like to see a Fellaini-Arteta axis in midfield given time to develop, so again, if money's limited, a central midfielder wouldn't be my priority.
Nick, players aren't cars. Your metaphor is pointless. It makes just as much sense to say he's a house and we bought him cheap, 'did him up' (he's got better and more experienced in his time with us) and we deserve to make a profit for this. The player is worth what someone is prepared to pay and I'm happy to try to get as much as possible rather than 'panic sell' at the first offer that came in.
Now there's lots of rumours flying around about players being linked with the club... personally I'd love to see three: Demba Ba, N'Zogbia and Jarvis. This may sound like playing football manager... and to an extent it is; however, they are all realistic targets, with £5 millon banked from Peinaar and Vaughan and with Yobo and Yak on there way out and maybe getting rid of a few more dead wood, these three are well affordable.
All are young pacey players exactly what we need. My team for next season would be: Howard Coleman, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Arteta, Rodwell, Fellaini, N'Zogbia, Jarvis and Ba. Mouthwartering attacking frontline... and maybe when we are playing away, as Moyes is so cautious, could be: Howard, Neville, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Jarvis, Fellaini, Arteta, Cahill, N'Zogbia, Beckford, with a bench of Saha, Osman, Heating! Coleman, Garbutt, Ba and Geuye. There's my thoughts ? bring on next season.
I'd stick with Neville at RB for one more year because I'm sure he's a good influence on the young players and experience is invaluable.
We should get his agent to look for other clubs, because I'm sure someone would be willing to pay more around the 5 million mark for a player of his quality in today's climate of Jones' and Henderson's!
I really think we should sell Billy and Heitinga. I'm sure if Moyes can get in the region of £12-14m for the pair of them he can use it better this time round
Boyata on loan anyone? Not sure i see the point...
Sometimes I feel that the Everton hierachy are quite happy at Everton's status as long as they function as a viable financial business hence the lack of real urgency about possible incoming investment. Chances are they will not get the kind of money they would like for some of the "stars" they could sell and may keep them around for another season which would be disappointing for the fans who would like to see better results. By the way who did bid for Mikail-Smith?
?There was talk of a swap with [Gary] Cahill at Bolton, but Dedryck does not want to go there,? Bienvenu Boyata said in an article in the Daily Mail.
?Everton are showing interest in him as well, and they are very much an option for him.?
We could offer immediate first team places to N'Zogbia and a decent proven striker and we would not miss any of the ones I have mentioned.
We also need a good left back cover player for Baines...perhaps someone who could play in more than one position.....a decent utility player.
BUT we should move quickly to secure the players that are wanted and not stand idly by waiting for the crumbs....we are EVERTON FFS.
If the deal doesn't go through I'd bring him back and involve him, but then I'd have tried to play Yakubu back into fitness after the signs he showed in the home derby. Although it can be boring in the summer, I have respect for Moyes' (slightly forced) policy of maintaining stability, and I think its part of the reason we out-perform teams around us who spend more on transfers and wages. In a league of mercenaries we are much more of a team than many others, who often seem to be a collection of individuals.
Having said this, it seems Moyes' mind is made up to get shot of Yakubu and Yobo, although he should make more of an effort not to make it so obvious, the art of negotiation is important. Maybe a few statements about how he's looking forward to getting them back and bolstering the squad might convince the tight-arsed potential buyers to stump up. The worst case scenario is we have two quality, proven Premier League and international players in key positions in addition to the squad we've just finished seventh with.
Why not try and get Seb Larsson if he's not going to Sunderland, there's Reo-Coker (i'm not a fan but he'd strengthen the squad) and Carew, he'd do a job when called upon, maybe a nice foil for Beckford??!! Bothroyd is also on there!! Gamble City i know but what the hey, we're skint!!
I'm tired of always trying to conjure up/discuss/re-discuss/agree/disagree/become depressed by reasons for why we have no money.......WE HAVE NO MONEY........we just have to be satisified with free transfers for the forseeable future.
Andrew (24). Yes, Seb Larsson would be a great addition. I think he used to play for Mrs Doubtfire (Steve Bruce) though, so will probably as you say end up at Sunderland.
Now getting rid of the Vaughan, Yak & Yobo alone frees up 100k a week & for me Heitinga & Billy can go too (another 100k a week) and Fee?s of between 20-25m
Winger (N'Zogbia) 10m (65k) & Striker (Djalo) 10-15m (65k) & loans, Boyata (35k) Wellbeck (35k)
Then you have to look at the likes of Saha (50k), should we allow him to go?, will we get 20 plus games out of him? & dare I say it Arteta (75k) if the Arse are replacing Fabregas, Defour maybe his replacement to ensure Fellaini signs a new contract.
This is not even mentioning the gutter press who are tipping Rodwell & Baines to leave. No way can Baines be allowed to go anywhere he just can?t be replaced & Rodwell is still only on basic wages so hanging on another season would be prudent as next year I think he?ll really kick on.
Heres another 3.....WE...ARE..SKINT
Heres another 3....WE...WILL..SELL
Heres another 3....I..LOVE...EVERTON
Obviously i dont expect four and five big names every year but two or three of the kind of players mentioned should not be out of range.
We have had fairly consistent high league positions over a period with European football being achieved, so once again we have to ask? How the fuck can Sunderland, Newcastle and a host of other Premier League clubs compete for these players when in the same period they have even suffered relegation.
So a new defender, midfielder and striker due for pre-season....I can't wait.
Its no wonder players like Howard, Cahill, Hibbo and Neville speak glowingly of our set up....they know that their jobs are safe....I want to see more genuine competition for places otherwise the more ambitious younger players will want to leave...I have NEVER blamed Rooney for leaving...he had ambition and unfortunately our beloved EVERTON does not under the present regime.
DM has taken this squad as far as he can !!!!!!! A new manager would want funds.
However I have heard a few whispers from people in the game, that Moyes has money available this summer.
Watch this space.
I kow this is a slightly unrelated artilcle, but I can?t understand why Everton are prepared to run the risk of Fenerbache waking away from the Yobo deal by holding out for 5 to 6 million.
-----------------------------
They only offered £2m. I would expect us to get more than that. If not from Fen, the someone else. If it is just £3.5m, then we'll have done the right thing.
Must admit, don't know Djalo, but if it's true he plays up front and wing - as does N'Zogbia - this would seem to be what Moyes is looking for. It would be the typical Moyes plan, got no money, so look for utility players.
I reckon we need £20m for two strikers and a winger.
If we could choose, then we'd just lose Yak, yobo,Vaughan, Pienaar (maybe I'm being optimistic that his fee will go to squad building), and Bily. That would come to about maybe £17m. Perhaps, more out than in means wage savings to account for the £3m overpsend? Touch optimistic on my part again??
The place we need reinforcements apart from the wings is probably attacking midfield.. Osman is the man there at the moment but Adam scores plenty from this position and bring a range of shooting we dont have.
I would suggest selling Yobo and Bily for a combined £ 10 mill and brining the 2 wingers in.
Adam would have to be funded from the sale of Jagielka with Jonny slotting in at the back..
What remains is whether or not he will have a transfer budget available to use.
I also said that if he did leave a new manager would want a budget to work with.
I sincerely hope that DM does not leave but he must be very frustrated when he sees other clubs being active in the transfer market while he remains the old mother Hubbard of the division.
I have already said that competition for places should be a must in every ambitious side and without it complacency sets in.
I also wholeheartedly agree with you that we need competition in all places or complacency sets in, this is also something Moyes has said on numerous occasions in the past
I see Pearce didn't pick Rodwell, and then chose to pick Macienne and that seems to be a royal balls-up. Rodwell then comes on in the second half and low-and-behold the midfield seems to perform with much more efficiency and less headless-chicken running.
I don't get this development of Rodwell is over-rated shit. He's 20, had 2 season that have been inter-ruped by injury and has been played in every position but his own due to the necessity to play the best-little-spaniard we know. Fact is, he is gonna be a very good player. He may not be the second coming of Jesus Christ Our Lord. He may not become a world player of the year. But he will become a very good player, the sort we should try and keep at this club. He will certainly be better than anything we can buy.
Next season we should have Fellaini and Rodwell as the starting central midfield. Then have Arteta, Osman and Cahill compete for the extra central midfield role (we're always gonna play 4-5-1 or some development of this).
The fact that that idiot 'god knows why he's got a job, he wasn't even a good football player' psycho Pearce didn't pick him yet chose to pick an average centre back who hardly played for wolves last season ahead of him say's more about him than it does about Rodwell.
Why don't we sell Vic for £50m, Duffy for £50m and Saha for £100m. Then we could clear all of the clubs debt, trick Barca into selling us Messi for £20 and have loads of money left for a party.
We won't splash out for new players other than a part of the money we bring in from sales. Now if that meant that we would reduce the loans significantly, I wouldn't be happy but I could see that it is for the good in the long run. But in one year time, we probably will have even higher debts! I hardly see a way out of this other than an invester buying the club.
Saha is a problem. Yes he is a class act but not getting any younger. Everton are paying him 52 weeks wages but is that justified if we only get 20 games from him (some not even 90 mins). If we knew he would get 12-15 prem.goals in that time then he would be worth paying. The flipside is letting hime go to some club who could pay a reasonable sum for an injury prone forward and the wages could be used on a replacement who may not be out every other match. We have several others also who could be worth letting go now as new blood is needed to improve this squad.
Another Pearce classic "Muamba has just produced the best holding midfield players role that i have ever seen in a England jersey".
I dont think Rodwells a world beater but offers much more than Mancienne.
Rodwell at his age has a chance in the future of playing for the England full side if he can get back to what he was before the last seasons hiccup, Mancienne's best chance of ever playing for the full England team was because he was at Chelsea and nothing else he hasn't even got that going for him now.

Fenerbache aren't willing to meet our £4mil valuation and are looking nearer to £3mil; petty in all honesty, since Yobo has been a revelation over there and scored in the game that won them the league.
Yak looks to be off to Leicester; he is a greedy so and so though and trouble is getting him to lower his current £35k a week wages.
Would love to see us sign N'zogbia. Djalo is unproven and a big gamble and Defour is a more central player and we've got more than enough of them.
