The rumours will not go away. My mates who are Villa fans are convinced not only that he is the right man to bring glory days back to their club, but staggeringly that a deal has in fact been done. With the managerial ins and outs today, anything is possible.
One pal, who called the Darren Bent signing before it happened, reckons Lerner has a real hard on for Moyes and has been speaking to him since June 4th and this despite the bookies making McLeish odds on favourite for the hotseat at Villa park.
Personnally I honestly couldn't understand it if DM left us for that lot, money to spend or not. I would see that more of a failure on his part that he hasn't delivered in 10 years at the club, rather than excuses to lack of resources. Perhaps its all just rumour mill garbage, but there is no denying Moyes' increasingly disinterested and resignated look on his face in the last few seasons.
So who do we get in to freshen things up and keep us moving forward? I think we need a new strategy, perhaps a foreign coach. Ranieri? Either way I foresee a major change ahead at Goodison...

Don't thnk Moyse will go, only because ther will be more expectations at Villa, due to there actually being a transfer budget. Learner splashed out 26 million on one player alone, he will have expectations for the next manager. Moyse will be for-ever comfortable at Everton due to the chairman having no expectaions only survival, due to thee being no transfer budget. I also think (IMO) that Moyes has become institutionalised at Everton.

Ranieri spent a fair bit, and that season you talk about was with Abramovichs money (it was the first season of Abramovichs reign) he royally screwed up that semi final against the mighty Monaco!!!!

I think it might be a good time for Moyes to go, it would be a gamble as to who we get next, and what he could do with this squad of players,
but we all know what we are going to get from Moyes with this squad of players,
negative tactics, what we have(a point), we try to keep' terrible performances against the clubs below us, home and away
then hey presto 7th/8th place finishes.
Think it would be interesting to see what O'neill could do with this squad of players, think he would be more offensive than Moyes.

Looked on a Villa forum yesterday and out of 550 votes he had around 50% with "others" maxed out at 10% - he is the fans fave though some dissenting voices don't rate him.
Be amazed if he went, but I'm amazed Martinez stayed and Mcleish left Brum.

SInce his father died and Lerner took over the NFL's Cleveland Browns in 2002 "the Browns are a combined 33-63, with 10 of those wins coming in Derek Anderson's "miracle" season of 2007". Just heard Phil Babb on Talksport, discussing the Villa job. First why they are struggling getting someone, "we hear that not much/nowt of a budget will be available".

The bottom line is that they are having difficulty securing a new manager because they have no or very little money to spend. Which is always why they wanted Moyes in the first place, having observed him working with no money for us. Why in the name of Dixie would he want to go there ?

If it happens I would hate to see Hughes even considered given his actions around the Lescott payout. It's not the fact that they bought him (twice over), but his complete lack of respect for not only Moyes but Everton, a club who paid him in the twilight of his playing career.

My mate works for the gas board and yesterday he told me that his brothers next doors neighbours wife as a cousin who apparantley was out walking her dog when she got talking to another dog walker who also as a cousin the cousin works as a house maid and she over heard the owners talking about a girl who is a hairdresser she was cutting a clients hair and got into the usual petty talk and it was the client who mentioned about Moyes going to Villa.....so it must be true because the client as a cousin who....................

I would think that he would be giving it serious consideration, and at this moment pushing Kenwright to commit funds to rebuild Everton.
If he does go, it says more about our chairmans failure to attract investment after ten years.
Moyes is loyal to Everton, but the realisation that Kenwright just cant deliver would force any manager with a fierce ambition to walk away.

James, no problem with your assessment of Hughes, I'm not overly keen on him either but Di Matteo is quite frankly not Premiership quality as a manaager whilst Hughes can do a job for a mid table side.

One guy I know is a friend of one of their scouts & all tell the same story..Di Matteo was apparently aloof, unapproachable & not at all liked around the club. Apparently he lost the ddressing room & the club suits were rumoured to question his committment & work ethic.
This is all heresay & rumour but comes from those around the club, who would know.

Additionally to my previous note (#52), if Moyes was to go then I would like to see Alex McLeish considered for the vacancy at our place.

Been confirmed this morning Moyes is going nowhere. This 'rumour' seemed to have been started on some messageboards, and as it is silly season (and with the advent of Twitter), stories run.

The one thing clear about this managerial roundabout is how shite the options are - I'm a Martinez fan myself but the Hughes, Benitez, Mcleish, Mcclaren deadwood leave me cold.
