Hmm, Andy Reid, LM......
.....Nah, what was I thinking....
So a bunch of players-most nearly 40, that are not wanted by Stoke, Birmingham and West Ham should come to Everton? I would have though if half the Birmingham team were that good, they wouldn't have gone down. This really is how low expectations have become at Everton isn't it.
1.0 Aliadiere
2.0 Giles Barnes
3.0 Jay Bothroyd
Bring him over cause am really worried about the left side since Peanuts left
A forward, midfielder and defender all with a few more seasons in them to boost squad number and even have potential re-sale value.
James #16 - Spector, seriously the guy is an embarrasment. Ask any West Ham fan and they will tell you his nickname is Jonny "2 touch" the second touch being a tackle....
I reckon he'd be worth a punt on a short term or pay as you play deal.
I expect all these players listed to have a splintered backside unless they are prepared to play for Allardyce or Mclaren at Forest and drop a league or two.
Maybe add Carney and Kamara onto that list and we may have the makings of a squad.
Shouldn't David Vaughan be on this list too?
The doubt with Carew would be his hunger and commitment seemed to have dropped but his experience could help Beckford, but Saha would probably have to go.
Dyer always had ability but we already have Saha keeping the physio company and can't afford another.
Kamara can play wide midfield and has something are midfield lacked badly last season pace he doesn't have much else mind but neither do the likes of Walcott.
Andy Reid always seemed to do ok against us and has good footballing skills but lacks a yard of pace for the Prem imo.
Seb Larson is one i would take but fear its a big wage he is after that he has not done enough at Birmingham to earn elsewhere. Upson is another who would have the cheek to be looking for big wages until he realises he's shit and may end up without a club.
Boothroyd maybe one Moyes considers? There are lots of questions Boothroyd has yet to answer with not having played at Prem level the biggest. Beckford had youth on his side Boothroyd does not.
Lee Jamieson@10 Yes i know the original question wasn't about these players signing for us but ime just looking for any possible reasons we could be interested in signing any of them.
Reo Coker i expect will be looking for a move down South plus we are not short in that area so no need to consider him imo.
The rest come under journeymen and pensioners, thats not to say all the players listed are not the same.
Putting it another way it would be a shock if last seasons top six signed any of them.
We have enough deadwood at Everton already, why add to it? These are journeymen, nearly-men or never-will-be-men.
As for people critisising Bily, he has more skill and ability in his toe than any other Everton player!
But I must agree with James McGrady comm 3.
Seb Larsson is the only one that interests
me.
That said, I would take reo-Coker and larsson as COVER.
As for on that list well with the exception of Larsson and maybe Campbell, Pires and Gudjohnsen TEN YEARS AGO I wouldn't touch any with a barge pole.
The point I was trying to say is most are nearly 40, and not wanted by their shite clubs, why would we want them?? To keep you happy if I had to choose any it would be Larsson, and thats at a push.
Someone at EFC should be pulling their tripe out to get rid of Bily, Yobo (matter of time) the Yak and possibly Big Vic, let alone selling the usual big name player that we have to just to stay afloat.
I think if we get rid of the 4 above then we could bring in 2 players. a freebee and a 4mill type player..
if we sell the big name player then probably N'Zogbia if he hasnt already found a club, might be an option...
There's a couple of 26/27 year olds, and the rest are 29+ and most of those are more like 32+.
Dad's Army springs to mind.
Joe and now Trevor, you certainly are sounding more like a clown now. You say you read the post, and then go on to say why would Everton want them. Again, at what point did he ask you to choose them for Everton. You then say if you had to choose one you'd choose Larsson. Well, you weren't asked to choose one. Fuck me, how far did you make it in school. Again, reading comprehension. Read what is written, figure out what is being asked or what is the main point of the author's writing, and then write your response. So I'll narrow it down for you again. He asked which players out of all of those free agents would you pick as the best to make up an entire football team. Not sign up for Everton, again, not asking which would you sign for Everton. Just to have fun, pick a starting eleven from those players available on a free, since I think he meant eleven and not nine. That is all. Understand now?
Pires, Koumas, Reo Coker, Larsson
Samuel, Upson, Pantsil
Hahnemann
This has nothing to do with the blues - just a bit of "fun" - who would you have out of these players in your FREE AGENT XI - thanks Jeremy Benson.
Wish I had not bothered now!!!
Gardner as cover for Baines, also to allow Baines to play more advanced if need be in certain games.
Upson, as central defensive cover.
Easy.
Ps. We will sign NONE though!
He wasn't asking if Everton would sign any of these players. Wasn't asking where they would fit in with Everton. Try again.
I know what the original question was!!!!
I am saying that I would sign three of them! Or didn't you pick up on that? They would be useful additions.
Benny McCarthy would fit right in at Everton.
Seriously though, I'd take Bothroyd (admit it, he's worth a gamble) and Larssen. MAYBE Carew has a decent season left in him as well.
I did okay at school thank you.
Spector would fit in perfectly with us. Unlike West Ham's horseshit management, Moyes would get the best out of him. I'll except he's a squad player, but one who won't bitch and complain and give his all when called upon.
We don't need those types in the squad?
Because it's the fucking offseason and there's no football to talk about. Hardly the first thing to be posted on here to just pass the time. Or should we just have topic after topic entitled "who are we gonna buy" or "who are we gonna sell". Besides, don't ask me that question, ask the editors who decided to publish it. Wasn't my decision. I was just sick to death of people criticizing him for implying Everton should buy these players, when that's not at all what he was doing. As he said, something to pass the time. That's all it was. But I guess you can be the police for making sure that everything said on toffeeweb going forward is strictly related to Everton. It's gonna be a slow couple of months and very few page hits if that's the case though.
Blaming the West Ham management for Spector's complete and obvious lack of ability is laughable, I would rather see a youngster given game time. You can't polish a turd, James.
Because I am a fucking Evertonian!!.........if your not intrested then why read the post and then bother to write a comment????
I just thought this would be a bit of fun!
Thanks!

I'd bring McFadden back on a free. I'm making a different point to the article by the way.
Players are clearly expecting too much these days, some of which are getting their eye wiped.
OK most of them wouldn't necessarily be first choice, but quite a few are definitely worth a look at as good squad players.
Arsenal: Thomas Cruise, Roarie Deacon, Mark Randall
Aston Villa: Durrell Berry, John Carew, Ellis Deeney, Calum Flanagan, Harry Forrester, Arsenio Halfhuid, Isaiah Osbourne, Robert Pires, Nigel Reo-Coker, Moustapha Salifou

Blackburn Rovers: Jordan Bowen, Jason Brown, Zurab Khizanishvili, Benjani Mwaruwari, Michael Potts, Maceo Rigters
Blackpool: David Carney, Daniel Coid, Ishmel Demontagnac, Rob Edwards, Jason Euell, Marlon Harewood, Richard Kingson, Malaury Martin, Paul Rachubka, Andy Reid, Salaheddine Sbai
Bolton Wanderers: Tamir Cohen, Johan Elmander, Ricardo Gardner, Joey O'Brien, Jlloyd Samuel, Samuel Sheridan
Chelsea: Samuel Hutchinson, Carl Magnay, Danny Philliskirk, Jan Sebek, Michael Woods
Everton: Kieran Agard, Hope Akpan, Nathan Craig, Gerard Kinsella, Lee McArdle, Iain Turner

Liverpool: Jason Banton, Deale Chamberlain, Douglas Cooper, Sean Highdale, Steven Irwin, Nikola Saric
Manchester City: Javier Garrido, Scott Kay, James Poole, Shaleum Logan, Andrew Tutte, Javan Vidal, Patrick Vieira, James Wood
Manchester United: Conor Devlin, Owen Hargreaves, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, Edwin van der Sar
Newcastle United: Sol Campbell, Shefki Kuqi, Patrick McLaughlin

Tottenham Hotspur: Jonathan Woodgate
West Bromwich Albion: Giles Barnes, Marcus Haber, Dean Kiely, Abdoulaye Meite
West Ham United: Anthony Edgar, Holmar Eyjolfsson, Daniel Gabbidon, Lars Jacobsen, Filip Modelski, Jonathan Spector, Adam Street, Matthew Upson
Wigan Athletic: Steven Caldwell, Daniel De Ridder, Joseph Holt, Jason Koumas, Thomas Lambert, Thomas Oakes, Francis Pollitt, Abian Serrano Davila
Wolverhampton Wanderers: Adriano Basso, Jody Craddock, John Dunleavy, Marcus Hahnemann, David Jones, Nathan Rooney
There must be several other young players at the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona who they would be willing to loan out to gain experience. And before anybody dismisses this out of hand - I think it is worth mentioning that Barcelona's Reserve team finished 3rd in the Spanish 2nd Division!!
You don't have to pay £20M+ to sign a good player.
It's cringeworthy, last year the rags traced his lineage back to england FFS!!!
Michael, we've got the Russian McFadden these days!!
An American player is just the type to be managed by Moyes. Super fit, commited to the team and, yes, a non-groaner. You neglected to leave out the "and give his all when called upon" part; a Moyes staple.
I'll repeat, I don't see him as more than a squad player in soccer's toughest league. But he'd fit in and do well with us.
By the way, he was one of 8 players released by West Ham. The main reason was salary reduction by a relegated team.
At Everton, he'll be fine.
"By the way, he was one of 8 players released by West Ham. The main reason was salary reduction by a relegated team." Really James? So you are calling me a liar for something I never said I did anyway but you KNOW exactly what the main reason behind the release of 8 players was? These player's whose contracts were running into their final year in June 2010 before the season had even started??
Try harder.
He's crap mate. We have absolutely no need whatsoever for him. Squad man or not. His nationality has got nothing to do with it.
So:
Andrew (73) - Dude, have your doctor adjust your meds. You intially told me to ask "any" West Ham fan. You said that, not me. Then something about you and your neighbor. Am I making this up?
You said Spector's shit. I say he's good for EFC. Nothing more or less.
Stephen (74) - Learn more about American players' desire to play in the EPL first. Then talk to me about nationality's meaninglesness. Spector will fit in very well with EFC.
Brian (75) - In the spirit of your post: Fuck off.

The players I'd take would be Reo-Coker as cover. Larsson as a squad man and Upson on the off chance Heitinga is sold so we have experienced cover at the back, even then I'd be looking to give Duffy and Mustafi a go before him.
