You can see why they have been let go. Of the 34 players you list, 25 of them are aged 30 and over, 19 of them actually being over 30, and some in their late 30's.

Larrson and only as a squad player as we have plenty of midfielders already, the rest are gash, seeing Caldwell there reminded me of an old Scottish joke - "What do you call a woman with three fannies?" - "Mrs Caldwell" - her's, Stephen and Gary

The only ones I'd consider would be Larsson and possibly Giles Barnes if he could prove his fitness. All the others are either not good enough or past it.

Sign the American Spector. He'll play like a maniac when in and never bitch when he's on the bench. He'll be fit and ready always; perfect for EFC.

I would have Carney back at Everton as well, as cover for Baines. He's capable of playing on left wing as well. Can't do a worse job there than what Bily has shown us so far.

All depends on their wages and demands. If they don't have high wages or signing on fees then why not take Larsson, Boothroyd and Spector.

Surprised to seee Giles Barnes in there, but he's an attacking midfielder not a centre forward.

I expect all these players listed to have a splintered backside unless they are prepared to play for Allardyce or Mclaren at Forest and drop a league or two.

I reckon Hahnemann, Spector, Reo-Coker, Larsson and Bothroyd would be good additions to the squad. Especially as replacements for Mucha (if he leaves), Yobo and Yakubu as well as some extra cover instead of kids who obviously aren't ready yet.
Maybe add Carney and Kamara onto that list and we may have the makings of a squad.

Carew knows were the net is and is slightly different from the other strikers we have so could be worth a punt.

If we had absloutley no money and this was our only way of getting any new players the ones i would take from the list at a push would be, Giles Barnes (Moyes might be able to work his magic with him) Jay Bothroyd or Diomansy Kamara, Nigel Reo-Coker and depending on if we ended up selling Johnny which i dont think we will either Upson or Spector as cover. The only player i would certainly go for regardless of the money situation is Seb Larsson. The rest are either shite or way past it.

They're all a bit crap. Reo-Coker in, if any of our CMs are on their way out. Demba Ba is now free according to BBC website, he is definitely better than our strikers, but that means he could still be crap.

He might be older than God but Phillips is still quicker than Vic, fitter than King L and knows how to knock the ball in from 10 yards.
Unfortunately Trevor we are a Premier League club without a pot to piss in. So some prudent free transfers to prop the squad up is potentially good business, and one or two of those players are more than capable of doing a good job as PL benchwarmers that could keep a league cup run going too.

How is this a stupid article? It doesnt say anywhere that we should sign these players it is just pointing out that these are the players avaialble on a free and as we have no money would any of us fans take any of these players if its the only option available to us. Its just a question and something to think about if you dont like the article just ignore it! Maybe we are supposed to be an ambitous club but that doesnt mean we can hide from the fact that we have no money and if we are to improve on last season, need alot more cover than we have!
We had no money for transfers, wages or loan fees in Jan and we will not be bringing anyone in free or otherwise until someone is sold and or farmed out.
Someone at EFC should be pulling their tripe out to get rid of Bily, Yobo (matter of time) the Yak and possibly Big Vic, let alone selling the usual big name player that we have to just to stay afloat.

Or should we just have topic after topic entitled "who are we gonna buy" or "who are we gonna sell". Besides, don't ask me that question, ask the editors who decided to publish it. James #54 As my next door neighbour is a season ticket holder at West Ham I have seen a lot of Spector, you can hear the groans everytime he warms up, his name is read out, takes an hour to control the ball etc. Believe me it is not subtle. I dont actually need to canvass, the mighty West Ham, the team who finished bottom of the league have not retained his services as they clearly feel he is not good enough. Yet you believe on the basis that he will not moan when not playing (because he is not good enough to play for Everton) he should be paid by Everton. I'm sorry but what sort of logic is that?

There must be several other young players at the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona who they would be willing to loan out to gain experience. And before anybody dismisses this out of hand - I think it is worth mentioning that Barcelona's Reserve team finished 3rd in the Spanish 2nd Division!!

I have seen enough of this player to realise just how bad he is, how many times have you actually watched him try to play that does not involve a TV? The players I'd take would be Reo-Coker as cover. Larsson as a squad man and Upson on the off chance Heitinga is sold so we have experienced cover at the back, even then I'd be looking to give Duffy and Mustafi a go before him.
