Moyes inquires about Richardson

22/05/2012 | Comments (27)
Sky Sports "understands" that Everton have approached Sunderland about the possibility of signing Kieran Richardson.

The 27 year-old, a loan target of Arsenal in January and also interesting West Ham, is a versatile player and that could be fueling David Moyes's interest.

The former Manchester United player can play left back or left midfield and could therefore provide back-up for Leighton Baines.

The Echo's Greg O'Keefe tweeted, however, that northeast sources have rejected the story saying there is no truth in the reports that Everton have lodged an enquiry.

Meanwhile, the links between Everton and Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez persist with the Blues regarded as favourites to land him, although with a fee of £6.5m being bandied about, that may be unlikely.

FFS another who can play in more than one position but be shite in them all.

Instead of a winger who is also a defender, how about a winger that is also a winger.

Richardson is just one of hundreds of players being linked to a number of clubs and Everton are one of a few dozen clubs who will be linked to hundreds of players. Relax

Its what the journos do when there is no games to report.

I`m sure if there is a dazzling winger who is within our price range (free) and would choose us above all the other clubs and play for less wages than the rich clubs pay, Moyes will have him.

Perhaps you can point him in the right direction ?

Can probably put this one to bed! This from Greg O'Keeffe Echo's EFC reporter ‏@GregOK:

"Reliably informed that despite earlier Sky Sports report #EFC are NOT after Sunderland's Kieran Richardson."

A big no thanks. Shite player and is always injured! Would make Kilbane look good!

Agree with Paul Snodgrass is a great little player and would make a classic Moyes signing. Can play on either wing and can pick a pass.

Snodgrass is a good call; what about Jarvis from Wolves to be a winger for us?

Greg O'keefe has been assured that there is nothing in this on Twitter. And it is Robert Snodgrass isn't it?

Adam Johnston would be the perfect signing. He is a class act and would enhance the team. Signing Richardson would just be a waste of money. I agree lads Snodgrass is a good player but would only be a utility player (Alan Harper!). Anyhow Johnston for me Mr Moyes and top 4 here we come!

I think Snodgrass has found his level, a typical Moyes player in my opinion, however; tidy on ball without being too dynamic, no pace!

Richardson would be a decent signing ? not only does he offer cover for Baines, he has pace, delivery and a set-piece up his sleeve and can also play either side or through middle if required. If it's less than £1M, I'd say sign him.

What about Owen Hargreaves on a pay-as-you-play deal? If we can get 10-15 games out of him, a decent signing in my humble opinion.

Other Bosmans to consider surely would be Rodallega, Diame, Figueroa, Hoillet (tribunal), Cuellar and Gordon. All would offer something and healthy competition.

Gai Assulin has just been released by city. Moyes type of player in terms of being young, with potential, free, lacked chances at Barcelona and Man City.....he's also a winger apparently. Not sure if he tracks back for corners.

Assulin? Never heard of him. Is he any good? Is this Silva lad any good. Doesnt seem to have done much in the reserves.

Injury prone but i have always been impressed with his passing and his free kicks.

He could be good in the role hopefully to be vacated by Cahill.

We need class players like Adam Johnson not just bench fillers! How about Maxi from across the park?, controversial maybe but he is a goal threat and doesnt get much game time.

I've put Maxi's name up before Frank, thought he's looked one of Liverpool's better players this season even though he's hardly had a kick.

The reason why Maxi dosent play is because Kenny spent 36 million on Henderson and Downing so had to play them even though their shit.

Maxi?? seriously? 'We need class players like Adam Johnson, not just bench fillers'. Well, you can't get more of a bench warmer than him, he's crap and honestly, where do you see him fitting in? No thank you

What we need and what we can get are two different things.

Rather than mortgage the club further into debt - as if anyone with sense would lend us more - Moyes needs to use the available free transfers to bring in 2 or 3 players that are capable of making a difference.

Free transfers area ideal, loans less so, transfers for a fee I can only see happening if Moyes sells first.

Paul, they are good stats but in my opinion i just don't rate the guy. I do agree we've needed a right sided player for years but one with pace and trickery. Sadly Drenthe would have been the answer if he wasn't suck a dick!

Dave Wilson has it spot on. You just know everyone out there who is available at a bargain deal or loan will be linked to Everton so we best forget about the rumours until something positive actually happens.

Knowing Moyes, as we all do by now, he will keep his cards close to his chest ? if indeed he is planning any moves at all. His half-decent finish to the season will probably satisfy his ego that he had it right all along and the results before Xmas were just bad luck. He made 3 astute moves which saved the season: Pienaar, Gibson and Jelavic.

If Pienaar is around next season, perhaps the good things will happen from the start but I am not so sure: we have the right pieces to the puzzle yet.

Wayne #055 free transfers are not free. Last season when Barton went on a free to QPR, they paid £3.5m in agent and signing on fees, as well as an enhanced salary. Before you mention his off-field problems, these probably pushed down the fee they had to pay.

So for a player who is likely to "add to the squad" we are looking at about £5m before wages.

Alternatively there's McFadden.

Having let Forshaw and Hahnemann go, Moyes will have his usual hard on for another defender and third choice keeper before any other signings
