Young Rosenborg midfielder linked

Everton are vying with Celtic for Rosenborg midfield prospect Markus Henriksen according to reports.

Tribal Football cite a report in the Daily Mail that Everton have joined the race for the 19-year-old — The Times were also apparently linking him with a move to Goodison today as well and Google searches also bring up references to Henriksen and Everton on various Swedish sites.

Henriksen, who is also being tracked by Benfica, said of the speculation: “There has been interest from clubs in me since I was 15 so I am used to it!

“When it feels like the right time for me, I'll leave and it would need to be at a club where I can play first-team football.”

Meanewhile, London24 report that Rennes midfielder Tongo Doumbia, linked with Everton last week in that agent-shopping-his-client kind of way, is set to join West Bromwich Albion.

I hope you sign for Everton as we have quite a few young talented players coming through the system.

Would he get first team football with us?

He is promising, but I doubt first team football for us the first years.

His agent is the former leader of the Norwegian Everton fanclub, so I guess he would tip off Everton if he meant his player was good enough.

He is an exiting prospect. One of few, possibly the only player from the Norwegian top division I'd like to see in royal blue.

He's still very young, he broke into Rosenborg's starting eleven a couple of seasons ago and has never looked back.

He was wanted by Club Brugge in the January window, but chose to stay at Rosenborg.

As a player he reminds me to some degree of Paul Scholes, not bad considering his father was the Norwegian Richard Dunne.

The minute the words 'Daily Mail' appear, you can safely know it's a load of bollocks.

If the Daily Mail AND Tribal Football are saying it, it must be a done deal.

A young talented player is always a strength to the squad.

Looked him up on Wikipedia. A pretty tall, box-to-box (noted for endurance), central midfielder with an attacking bent. Full international and sized up previously by Celtic, Napoli and Villa, though has said he sees the Bundesliga as his eventual home. Turned down Club Brugge in January and turns 20 this month. Seems ambitious in the right ways - intends to captain both club and country and apparently will only consider options where he would be likely to be a regular starter.
On the one hand it looks like he may be able to come in at a decent level and develop further over time, on the other it is doubtful we would be playing him as a first choice if we retain everyone we have at the moment.

We need to find wingers, preferably with pace, not centre midfielders.

20-year old demanding 1st team play? I like his aggressive way of expressing ambition, but regular 1st team in the Prem? Maybe at one of the relegation-worried teams. But a requirement for 1st team regularity with us puts this in the non-starter category.

Like the quotes though. Comes across self-assured.
“There has been interest from clubs in me since I was 15 so I am used to it"!

Rascal.

Without doubt a top prospect, he just reminds of a more attacking Rodwell though, roughly the same size with a good work-rate and quite good technically.

This would be an unbeleivable coup, it's a shame it's more than likely just paper talk.

He would be a poor signing. We need wingers so this must be crap. Anyone thinking he would be a smart buy is way off.
