Although it seems that Martinez is the most likely (for which would just about OK for me) I thought I would throw up another combination. Pip with Mike Phelan (MP) as assistant.

Obviously MP has years of experience and success with the best and therefore could be ideal to educate Pip and bring him along. No one complains about the Man Utd style of football and I have to assume this ingrained into Mike Phelan's psyche. I certainly believe Pip in the long term will make a great manager but would be very worried if he took over at Everton without a quality experienced Assistant which surely Mike Phelan is.

I would also take Eric Steele if Chris Woods goes the other way as I think Steele has done a good job with De Gea.

If we're taking Phelan and Steele from Utd's back room, why don't we just grab Fergie as well? Apparently he's out of a job now! ;-)

Why would we take Utd's backroom staff?

The new manager coming in should choose his staff, not toffeeWebber's.

If we could pick the staff, who on here would fill each position do you think?

Tim: Good shout. We take all the Mancs cast-offs so why not their coaching staff?
Have to agree I`d take Phelan and Steele over Lumsden/Round and Woods any day.
I reckon Moyes is taking a risk by taking those no-marks to Man U. My Unt. mates are already forecasting doom! Pile your bread on Man City for the title !

I reckon Jimmy Lumsden must be the least known man on Everton`s staff. In 11 years with the Club,I cannot recall a single mention of him in any paper ot internet thread!
The record shows he was born in 1947 and played as an inside forward for Leeds Unt. and Southend, making only 15 League appearances in a 5 year career.
His coaching career was initiated with the Scottish FA `where he specialised in working with forwards. He worked closely with Moyes on the development of coaches north of the border before joining him at Preston`.
So after all these years of believing that ALL Davey`s coaches had a `defensive bias`,the truth is out.The man who deserves all the praise for the `development ` of the likse of Johnson,Saha and Jelavic is.......Jimmy Lumsden!
Now let`s see what he`ll do for Van Percy!!!

Couldn't care less who he takes.

Tonights rumour is Martinez or Weir.

Ross #985, I think those on here who could fill the staff positions are.

Richard Dodd, defensive coach for his solid defence of BK and DM all these years.

Jimmy Sondheim (spl) as midfield coach as he can spot talented midfielders (welcome back Royston).

Tony Marsh, attacking coach so we'll be scoring a hatfull each game.

Tim/Peter Jones/Barry as manager as he obviously has integrity and would not leave us for a better job.

Any 4 year old off the street as Marketing Manager to design a better crest than the new one we have.

I don't care about Man Utd, Phil Neville or David Moyes, for me they are history and have nothing to do with the club and that's the way I would prefer it to remain.

What makes Neville the right man for the job? Just because he has won trophies with Man Utd means nothing to me, my only concern is Everton FC and the fact that we need to get a decent manager in to continue with the good foundations that DM laid.

I also would not be happy with any of the backroom staff like Stubbs or Weir getting the job as they are not big enough names to attract the type of players that we need in order to push on from where we currently are.

Even though I was never David Moyes's biggest fan, I have to acknowledge that he has without doubt moved the club forward and raised the profile of our club, and for that I am thankful to him; however, I do not buy into the idea that we are doomed without him as I feel that, if BK can make the correct appointment for the job, then it could allow a more attack-minded continental coach to help us get to that "next level".

My first choice would have to be Pereira although I have to admit that I had never heard of him before he was linked to the Everton post; however, after researching this guy, I do like his approach to the game and his ideas on how the game should be played.

It does look like Martinez is the favourite for the post but I for one do not understand why? Under Steve Bruce and Paul Jewel, Wigan had higher league finishes and never got relegated so why would we want this guy in charge of a top 6 side when for me he is simply not good enough for us???
Pereira, Laudrup, Hiddink, Di Matteo are my choices for the job,and in that order.
