Disclaimer () Paul Kossoff 1 Posted 03/10/2025 at 15:17:38 Samuel, great article and so true, the officials in the Premier League are shocking, but apart from the odd one being not chosen for a game, or punished by being demoted to VAR, they get away with it. The idiots truly hold the future of certain teams in their hands. Considering they have so much help to get things right, how come they continue to get it wrong? Si Cooper 2 Posted 04/10/2025 at 01:02:06 A couple of points. I'm not sure why you have made an issue of promising attacking moves. There are plenty of situations that would merit a yellow (or red) card without that needing to be a significant factor for consideration.Secondly, a yellow card for taking a free kick before the whistle is blown is not necessarily ‘even more bizarre' (than getting booked for winning the ball), and is a valid option if the referee has issued a clear prohibition against it as they need to devote attention to proper distancing or whatever. It is, however, a sanction that is so rarely used that Dewsbury-Hall is the only player any of us has ever seen it used on. Also, I've yet to see it clarified that the ref had given clear instruction to wait for the whistle on that occasion (or issued a general warning that it should be assumed that the whistle needed to be blown first). The media has been all over these two very harsh decisions. Not sure we need a separate thread about it. Colin Glassar 3 Posted 04/10/2025 at 07:34:02 Players and managers moan and groan about refs and VAR on a nearly daily basis but don't do anything about it. Multi-millionaires scared of a £10 grand fine for “bringing the game into disrepute”? Give me a break.Until they agree to unite and really challenge these decisions, nothing will ever change. So put up or shut up.
