The Mail Bag
Money money money (or a lack of?)

Reading the article this morning about Steven Pienaar being wanted by Spurs, two things struck me:
First, is this now going to be a regular ploy between competing teams to try and unsettle a rival squad (a la Lescott, Milner and now Rodwell and Pienaar)? Allow the player to keep going through all of the pre-season then feed in rumours that you want to buy them to unsettle the squad? That's a pretty devious trend, methinks.
Secondly, West Ham say we'll offer you £6m for Yak then come back with a revised offer of £5m. Now they're talking about Spurs offering just £6m for Pienaar. Do they know something we don't? Do they suspect some sort of desperate agreement from us (if so, why?) or are these linked to the first point, trying to destabalise the player? For example, 'we'd love to have you play for us and give you tons of dosh if only Everton would be more reasonable' (whilst having no intention of a serious offer)?

It's very strange for the club not to push on with Pienaars contract negotiations which suggests to me he is a very saleable asset in the absense of any reasonable offers for Yak,Vaughan or Yobo.

This newspaper talk may or may not be true.
I do not know why people believe the press but they often do - with or without any evidence of their assertions; same in politics [the economic recession is because of government spendg - ugh???] same in football.
After the daft story run in the Mail this week about Rodwell ? did ya see it? Ancelotti: "Rodwell is a good player" = the clearest indication yet that Chelsea will bid for Rodwell.
Utter rubbish! And we actually buy this crap.
I'm amazed that this story runs on the same day that other newspapers are running the story about Pienaar stating that he wants to stay. I think the Mail just have an axe to grind with Everton this summer for some reason, maybe because they really don't want us crashing the top 4 in place of their beloved Liverpool.
These rags are always trying to undermine Everton and keep us down, the club needs to sign Pienaar up or be prepared for more of this till next January.
Speak for yourself Roberto!
I wouldn't even use it for toilet paper if I'd run out.
I certainly hope it is. If Joe's fallen down the pecking order,we at least need back-up.
I thought this was the Yobo thread - doh!
I'll put down the crack pipe..

Smart move. It's already covered with the stuff.
Just as a curiousity, what do you use when you "run out"?
A yak bid of £5m and a Peanuts bid of £6m does nothing to tempt anyone... no legs in this... no affect on players as they know such a shit offer is never going anywhere... lets agree this is tabloid crap and not worth discussing..

er, your're dicussing it. Get in! bit of an open goal that one...
