How Should We Approach The Huddersfield Game

Apart from trying to win it of course...
Is this a game to play both Rodwell and Fellaini in midfield for respective fitness and experience? Maybe also Gueye, Coleman, Vaughan and The Yak should be handed starts and told to play themselves into the thoughts of the manager for the weekend.
This is a strategy we have not been able to afford over the last number of years. Well, now we can.
Having said that, however ? it's a hard job being manager. One other argument is that Moyes should stick with what he feels his best team is and let them 'click.' That would mean sticking with the same spine of the team with one or two minor changes.
I personally would like to see Fellaini in the team to work on his fitness ? and I would also like to see Yakubu start... I want to see the hunger in his eyes. We don't have a more natural goalscorer at the club. But whether he still retains that ability is another matter.

Moyes will put his 'strongest' squad as Rodwell and Beckford will start. Gueye will play some parts and Heitinga will be back alongside Jags.

Would love to see Rodwell and Fellaini start, Heitinga in at CB with Gueye getting a game. Beckford needs an early goal in competition. Is Moyes holding back playing certain players until after the transfer window?? Just a thought.
i'm torn between fielding our best 11 to try and get (hopefully) some goals, fluidity and confidence into the team, experimenting with things like 442, Jags and Jonny as CB'S together, ahve a look at Mucha and Coleman playing right sided midfield.
in the end i'd go for

Guyeman, Rodwell, Felli, Pienaar/Bily
Yak and Beckford

After the reserves game against Chelsea I would like to Mucha start, it waould also be nice to Beckford play and score to boost his confidence.
My only concern is that if Moyes does play the people named above and we lose how many people will criricise him for throwing away the game by "playing Felli who is clearly not fit", "too many young inexperienced players" etc.

I agree Steve, sounds like he had a stormer. I'd really like to see Coleman start, but have to admit - Hibbo was probably our best player against Wolves.

If Beck was staying in Yak's shadow the chances are the ref would not see him.
Need a good result primarily, but perhaps experiment with something like Bily playing just behind Yak. I can see Yak holding he ball up really well for Bily to come on to and have a dig at goal.
Just another tactic - get your best player at holding the ball up combined with the player with the best shot from the edge of the box. Just a thought.

Duncan, how was Hibbert our man of the match? There were at least 10 occassions on Saturday where he got forward and as usual his shit crossing let the side down and stopped our attack. It's all very well praising his tackling but his positional play is so shite, he's always having to perform last ditch tackles. There were also 2 occassions where the Wolves winger skinned him.

Hibbert is our most consistent performer because he is consistently shit. You know you're always going to be guaranteed a performance where he gets stripped for pace and all his crosses end up going out of play. I get sick of the defence of Hibbert and I get sick of Moyes' loyalty to him. Coleman should start tomorrow, not because he is a world beater but just because he is our best right back.

Agree Alex whatever side we put out from our squad should be good enough to comfortably beat them,no fucking excuses.

Perfect chance to give Fellaini game time, would also be interested to see what Rodwell could do in a more advanced position. Gueye should be given a chance, and Coleman as I totally agree with Duncan's assesment of Hibbert.
I would really like to see where Vaughan's form is at currently, because we look pretty toothless at the moment, so having human battering ram, with bags of pace might bring something different, we may aswell use him on the rare occasion he's fit. He cant do much worse than the other two have done.

I believe he has to play Gueye, Coleman, Beckford, Heitinga, Feilaini and Rodwell for fitness and confidence issues! If Beckford can net, it will do him the world of good! And if Coleman plays well, he is gonna add weight to the shouts about him starting, as with Gueye and Rodwell! A convincing win would do us well and some individuals a world of good! So go strong Moyesie ? a trophy is a trophy!
I agree with Chris (34) that those players should all start. If Yakubu is fit though I'd play him as well as or instead of Beckford. I also think Mucha has to play in goal if signing him was to be worthwhile.

Yakubu took 'a whack' in training apparently so isn't available for Huddersfield.

Why haven't they been in contention because of the World Cup? They got knocked out in the group stage, Cahill, Heitinga, Pienaar, Mucha, Howard play just as much and some more than them two ... and they have been in every squad! Something must be going on with regards to them two!

I am really surprised that up to now Distin doesn't get a start off any of us ? he is the only left-footed centre-half at the club. Heitinga and Jagielka will not work. Moyes has got to play Jagielka and Distin as the centre-half pairing. Heitinga, if available, must start in any game we are serious about winning, therefore my team for the first 65 minutes would be:

I can't have the Yak (who would have been fed by this lot) so I would start Beckford.

This system could easily cope with injuries or suspensions as you would have lots of players to cover e.g. Saha or Yak upfront; Osman, Bily, Gueye for attacking three; Heitinga or Neville in the defensive two... and Distin, Yobo, Hibbert and Coleman to cover the back four. It works for Brazil?
