How Should We Approach The Huddersfield Game
Comments (42)
Apart from trying to win it of course...
Is this a game to play both Rodwell and Fellaini in midfield for respective fitness and experience? Maybe also Gueye, Coleman, Vaughan and The Yak should be handed starts and told to play themselves into the thoughts of the manager for the weekend.
This is a strategy we have not been able to afford over the last number of years. Well, now we can.
Having said that, however ? it's a hard job being manager. One other argument is that Moyes should stick with what he feels his best team is and let them 'click.' That would mean sticking with the same spine of the team with one or two minor changes.
I personally would like to see Fellaini in the team to work on his fitness ? and I would also like to see Yakubu start... I want to see the hunger in his eyes. We don't have a more natural goalscorer at the club. But whether he still retains that ability is another matter.

If we gonna win something, this is 'realistically' the one thing...
Moyes desperate to win... Huddersfield is in for a hard time....
in the end i'd go for
Mucha
Coleman, Jags, Johnny, Garbutt
Guyeman, Rodwell, Felli, Pienaar/Bily
Yak and Beckford
i'd have a strong bench though Arteta, Cahill, Howard, Saha, Distin, Neville and either Bily or Pienaar
Hopefully this would give us a blend and offer some flexibility to try new things throughout the 90 mins. We really could do with a comfortable win and good display to get things rolling
My only concern is that if Moyes does play the people named above and we lose how many people will criricise him for throwing away the game by "playing Felli who is clearly not fit", "too many young inexperienced players" etc.
Rodwell has to start, and I too would rather see Heitinga at the back again.
However, I would like J Mucha to get a try. If he's a class act let him have the premier ship experience. It would be good for Howard to have some real competition.
If he screwes up, Howie back in. Howie is mostly reliable and a solid keeper, Top 10 in the world he's not.
In front of the keeper:
Coleman/Hibbert Jagielka Heitinga Baines
Fellaini
Maguye/Bily Arteta Rodwell Pieenaar
Beck Saha/Yak
With Cahill as a supersub from 65-70 mins on.
Rest of the bench:
Saha/yakBily Neville, Howard Distin Hibbert
A fresh -cahill may some better to use when he's rested - and defenders not. As they call it in hockey. Power play.
wonder if the ref would realise?
Beck, Saha or Yak.
But I Would be happy to see the ref allow the 12 I mentioned.
Just another tactic - get your best player at holding the ball up combined with the player with the best shot from the edge of the box. Just a thought.
Did you actually watch the game because in the Park End where I sit, there were collective groans everytime he fucked up another cross and a lot of abuse was thrown his way in the second half. Hibbert is our most consistent performer because he is consistently shit. You know you're always going to be guaranteed a performance where he gets stripped for pace and all his crosses end up going out of play. I get sick of the defence of Hibbert and I get sick of Moyes' loyalty to him. Coleman should start tomorrow, not because he is a world beater but just because he is our best right back.
...and Yakubu would like to be able to look down and see his own cock and feet again.
Mucha
Coleman Johnny Jags Baines
Gueye Rodwell Arteta Bily
Silva Beckford
Should be more than enough for Huddersfield.
Mucha
Coleman - Jags - Heitinga - Baines
Gueye - Fellaini - Arteta - Rodwell - Pienaar
Beckford
However, I think Osman will start instead of Gueye and that'll be the team Moyes puts out. Start it strong, hopefully get a comfortable lead, allowing us to give Gueye a nice run out later on.
Subs - Howard, Hibbert, Mustafi, Saha, Cahill, Arteta, Heitinga
Mucha
Coleman, Jagielka, Heitinga, Baines
Rodwell, Fellaini
Bilyaletdinov, Arteta, Gueye
Vaughan
Subs:
Howard, Neville, Yobo, Pienaar, Cahill, Beckford, Yakubu
Osman will be in the starting eleven vs Huddersfield.
You may ask, why that should be? My answer is that despite week after week of Leon serving up shite Moyes sees something in him that is unseen by the baying horde.
Mucha
Coleman Jags Heitinga Baines
Rodders Fellaini
Anichebe Billy Gueye
Vaughan
Bit of power and pace for once.
Mucha
Coleman Jagielka Heitinga Baines
Gueye Rodwell Fellaini Pienaar
Beckford Saha
Mucha,
Coleman, Yobo, Heitinga, Baines/Neville
Bily/Ossie, Rodwell, Fellaini, Gueye,
Yak, Beckford/Vaughan
Mucha
Coleman Jags Heitinga Garbutt
Rodwell Fellaini
Gueye Bily Pienaar
Yakubu
I would really like to see where Vaughan's form is at currently, because we look pretty toothless at the moment, so having human battering ram, with bags of pace might bring something different, we may aswell use him on the rare occasion he's fit. He cant do much worse than the other two have done.
Our resi's should be able to rip them a new arse, never mind our first team.
Anyone who thinks that wednesdays team will have any bearing on the Villa team is singing from the land of the fairies.
Moyes will revert to type and play his chums.
Don't say you wer'nt warned.
If Moyes does this and makes full use of his subs, putting on the likes of Rodwell, Gueye etc i would be happy.
Unlike some, i feel that the poor start should not be responded to by wholesale changes as this only serves to unsettle the squad. Although i do find Moyes loyalty to Hibbert, Osman and Neville very frustrating considering the quality of our squad, surely all the players players need the confidence that they will have more than one or two games to prove their worth.
Coleman
Yobo
Heitinga
Bidwell
Bily
Fella
Rodwell
Gueye
Yak
Beckford
.
Hopefully some subs time for Baxter(is he on loan?), Vaughan and Silva?
Nothing like we WILL line up though
So I suppose my XI is:
Mucha
Coleman-Heitinga-(Anyofthem)-Baines
(Anichebe?/Bily)-Fellaini-Rodwell-Gueye
Yakubu - Beckford
'First choice' players on the bench, but also looking to give Vaughan a run.
Steve Round says the reason he and Yobo haven't featured so far is the World Cup and they're in contention from now on, Yobo is in the squad for Huddersfield.
And Paul (33), Baxter played for the reserves at Chelsea the other night, so isn't on loan.
Hibbert
Hibbert Weir Stubbs Hibbert
Osman Neville Osman Osman
Osman
Saha
Mulcha
Coleman, Jagielka, Distin, Baines
Heitinga, Fellani
Arteta, Rodwell, Pienaar
Beckford
I can't have the Yak (who would have been fed by this lot) so I would start Beckford.

Neville, Jags, Heitinga, Baines
Fellaini, Rodwell
Pienaar, Cahill, Arteta
Beckford
This system could easily cope with injuries or suspensions as you would have lots of players to cover e.g. Saha or Yak upfront; Osman, Bily, Gueye for attacking three; Heitinga or Neville in the defensive two... and Distin, Yobo, Hibbert and Coleman to cover the back four. It works for Brazil?
