Blues win on Cruise Control

31 March

A tired Everton roused themselves sufficiently to overpower a poor West Bromwich Albion and collect 3 more League points in the battle for sixth place. Pienaar returned along with Jagielka but Coleman (thigh), Rodwell (hamstring) and Drenthe (extended leave) were all absent again. Osman put the Blues in front with the benefit of a heavy deflection, credited to McAuley. Victor Anichebe made things a lot more comfortable with a good second goal barely 5 minutes after coming on for Tim Cahill.

Sunderland vs Everton

27 March

So here we are... A sixth match in 17 days sees Everton travel to the northeast for their biggest game of the season thus far, a do-or-die FA Cup quarter-final replay against Sunderland. Coleman is injured, Pienaar cup-tied and Drenthe is on compassionate leave, so Moyes will be short on options in wide areas as the Blues aim to extend their good record against the Black Cats and book passage to Wembley. KO is 8pm with live coverage on ITV 1.

Singing the Blues!!!

27 March

A rampant Everton steamrollered over the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light tonight to set up a date with Liverpool at Wembley next month. Building on an impressive start, Jelavic stroked home a superb opening goal after excellent work by Fellaini and Gueye's low cross. There should have been many more goals, Jelavic missing a sitter by firing wide with just Mignolet to beat, but one finally came in bizarre circumstances when substitute Vaughan mis-kicked Jelavic's shot into his own net! That sent the raucous traveling Blues contingent into rapture and back to Merseyside on a high.

Compassionate Leave for Drenthe

Why Tottenham should stay well away from David Moyes

26 March

Harry Redknapp will likely leave the club and stain his career with the England manager?s job ? and that could trigger a series of events which derails all the progress at White Hart Lane. If and when Redknapp leaves, the retention of the squad he has assembled is almost completely reliant on who Daniel Levy names as his successor. This is why mention of David Moyes should be a concern.

Pressure now on them, says Moyes

26 March

Sunderland produced a good performance to hold Everton at Goodison Park and take the FA Cup 6th Round tie back to the Stadium of Light. But David Moyes says Martin O'Neill's side are now the favourites to go through and meet Liverpool at Wembley in the semi-final.

Preparation was key, says Neville

Scintillating Second-Half Blues

24 March

A reasonably strong Everton side did the double over Brendan Rogers's men in fine style, despite a rather important impending FA Cup tie looming on Tuesday. Fit-again Gibson returned as Moyes rested Fellaini, Heitinga and Drenthe, who may be injured. After a controlled first half where Everton contained the Swansea well, Baines won and executed a superb text-book free-kick to put the Blues ahead. Everton really stepped up the style after that, Jelavic having three golden chances, and scoring on the third to give The Blues a rare two-goal lead, with Pienaar, the real star of the show, not even getting an assist!

Swansea City vs Everton

23 March

With the momentum of their good run of results since mid-January stalling, Everton face a tricky-looking trip to Swansea as they look to get back on track by doing the double over Brendan Rogers' men. Fit-again Gibson may return and Moyes might make other changes ahead of the all-important FA Cup quarter-final replay at Sunderland.

Young Keeper Roberts off on loan

23 March

Baxter on target again

22 March

Yet another Reserves game, just when they are not needed, with most of the first-team squad required to combat senior fixture congestion. Players like Vellios and Baxter, who are now well beyond the periphery of Moyes's vision, went through the motions and secured a point, Conor McAleny playing his last game before going to Scunthorpe on loan. Baxter scored early and Everton looked to be holding on for a win until the keeper Adam Davies gave away a late penalty.

Officials deny Everton a point

21 March

Everton recovered from a shaky start in which they struggled to contain Arsenal and conceded disappointingly from a corner, only to have an excellent goal, worthy of Wenger's Gunners themselves, incorrectly disallowed for offside on Drenthe. The Blues largely dictated the rest of the contest but couldn't find the killer final ball to break down an accomplished back line or force a real save from Szczesny.

Rodwell's injury problems

21 March

Jack Rodwell will undergo a series of tests on his nervous system as Everton hunt the cause of his persistent hamstring problems. A series of niggling hamstring injuries has restricted Rodwell to just two first-team games since making his full England debut against Sweden in November.

Everton vs Arsenal

20 March

Steven Pienaar is back again after being cup-tied for the Sunderland tie, but Darron Gibson won't be fit until Saturday at the earliest and both Seamus Coleman and Jack Rodwell will need further treatment on their recurring thigh and hamstring problems respectively. KO is 8pm.

Reserves draw with Wolves

19 March

At a time of first team fixture congestion, probably the last thing wanted is a slew of Reserves games, so it's not surprising that few of the teamsheet for today's game, their 5th game in a month, against Wolves have seen much first-team action (Duffy, Baxter, Vellios, McAleny), with regulars Barkley and Weir, McFadden and Mucha all missing. Everton led thanks to Lundstram's first-half strike but Wolves levelled after the break. Substitute Andy Thomas missed a late chance for the Blues.

Stymied Blues taken to unwanted replay

17 March

Everton must overcome Sunderland on their own turf if they're to reach Wembley after a full-blooded cup tie ended all-square. The visitors stole an early lead when a quick free-kick caught the Blues napping and Bardlsey lashed the ball in low through a crowd. But when Cahill diverted Jelavic's header home off a great Baines cross in the 23rd minute, it was game on. The frenetic pace inevitably flagged in the second half, though, and the Blues lacked the guile to win the tie on home ground despite dominating the second half.
