West Ham in contact regarding Schneiderlin bid

Updated Morgan Schneiderlin is the subject of interest from West Ham United who are either prepared to buy him outright or only want to take him on loan, depending on the source.

Sky Sports initially claimed that contact had been made between the two clubs over the possibility of doing a £20m deal before Wednesday's transfer deadline.

Schneiderlin, a capture from Manchester United for the same fee — a further £24m £4m is reportedly due based on appearances — a year ago, has been in and out of Everton's team this season as the side has struggled for results.

The BBC, meanwhile, reported that the Hammers' offer is to take him on loan for the remainder of the season which is unlikely to interest the Blues' hierarchy.

Now Sky are claiming that Everton have told the Hammers that Schneiderlin is too important a player and that he isn't available for transfer this month.

Sky's Jim White tweeted: "Seems no chance of @WestHamUtd getting Morgan Schneiderlin - @Everton say he's a quality player and isn't for sale."
