Napoli interest in Klaassen collapses

Paul Joyce of The Times has tweeted that the Serie A leaders are "showing interest" in the former Ajax captain who only joined Everton last summer for £24m.

And there is a suggestion in Italy from DiMarzio that a deal is close and that only the player's image rights need to be settled before he completes the switch.

Klaassen has yet to convince manager Sam Allardyce that he is capable of settling in the Premier League and has reportedly been offered to both Napoli and Inter Milan this month.

However, it now seems a move to Napoli is off, possibly due to issues with image rights, or him being cup-tied for the Europa League.

The £23.6m summer signing has been frozen out at Goodison and was urged by Sam Allardyce to find a loan move but Klaassen is now expected to remain at Everton until the end of the season.
