Updated Everton are hoping to fend off competition from the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Swansea City and West Ham United for the signature of Mali striker Moussa Marega, according to a report in Portugal.

A Bola claim that the 26-year-old is among the Blues' top targets for the upcoming transfer window.

Over the past two seasons, Marega has scored 20 goals in 33 league appearances for FC Porto, and another 13 in 25 games on loan for Vitoria Guimaraes, attracting the attention of scouts from some of Europe's bigger leagues.

Marega's agent has confirmed that Everton are among the clubs who have made contact with him with regard to his client.

"It is true that there are early contacts with several English clubs, among them Everton, but no decision has been made," Aziz Ben Aissa is quoted as saying by A Bola. "And it will only be with the natural knowledge and consent of FC Porto. Anything else that comes after this will be speculation."
